    I'm growing one of those as upright as I can get (just experimenting with it). I am twisting it around a stake and going high up (may got as far as 6 feet if doable) and then let it weep down. I have a Reyu Sen which I am growing that way and attempting Viridis that way too. My backyard is full of experiments for last 10-15 years, and many mistakes. Your video was helpful. Thanks.

    Should these green weeping maples be staked or no? And if so, for how long?

    I saw a green japanese maple of this kind which has even thinner leafs than yours and I really liked it. It’s specs were a little unusual that it says 15 ft tall and 8 ft wide but I will check tomorrow again. Basically it was like a tree structure instead of spread out ball which is interesting. I don’t know how it will look as tree, have seen anything like it? Thanks

    Can I grow a japanese maple in a pot in zone 4? What low temps can it withstand?
    Will it over-winter in a garage?

    What are plants you would recommend to plant around this japanese maple?

    Our plant died after 8 years. It was healthy before. Could a late freeze and snowfall in the northwest cause the tree to die?

      I use Plant tone or Holly tone on all of my shrubs and trees in the spring.

    I want to know do I have to graft my weeping maple that I'm propagating from a stem and growing in a pot ?

    • @JimPutnam
      @JimPutnam  6 років тому

      You don't have to, but root stocks that are used on the grafted trees are superior to the roots that your cutting will produce.

    Is Viridis different from ‘waterfall’ strain?

    • @JimPutnam
      @JimPutnam  6 років тому +1

      Waterfall is supposed to be an improved variety with fantastic orange fall foliage. I haven't seen it to know, but the description of both would be very similar.
