YOU asked for this one, so we made it! Next week I will show you my ULTIMATE SPEED WORKOUT. This is the sprint session I did before every major World Championships + Olympic Games. Sub + notifications if you want to see that one!
I think since Nick is always talking about trying to be a all around athlete he should do a Murph challenge. 1 mile, 100 pull-ups, 200 pushups, 300 squats, and finish off with a mile. It was named after a fallen Navy Seal.
I wonder if nobody has tried to do that and the WR is actually only like a 7 min mile clockwise lol. I've only ever ran clockwise for warmup/cool down.
Jamison Michael did this haha trolled everyone by making it look like he was gonna do what Nick and these boys did here only to turn around and run it forward clockwise
Bit of a crazy idea for a race; A race where no one but the timer knows the number of laps. He rolls a dice before the race, and that + 1 is the number of laps. He only gives a warning on the last lap. Should be very interesting tactically.
I played laser tag with my step nephew at a park and probably ran a total of 200m backwards and my hips were sore for a couple of days. I can't even imagine doing a mile backwards, and with no breaks. I mean, I can imagine completing it once the adrenaline sets it, but I can't imagine how horrible it must be afterward if about 200m with breaks was this bad
@@cwetz226 it depends, a freshman running a 5:30 is pretty impressive, sophomore should be running 5:00-5:10 for the mile. junior and seniors should be running sub 5
I once walked 5k backwards and had to ran the last 800m, I did it for charity. The day itself it was completely fine the day after was worse you could say. Mostly my calves were dead.
5k backward sounds like a terrible idea, honestly. A mile is already long, but 5k seems like a great way to get injured. Glad nothing bad happened to you.
Videos are always so fun to watch and always so energetic! Perhaps a 200 on hands and legs mile? That would be interesting or even a 100 yard dash doing the crab walk? Just throwing out some more fun ideas. Keep them coming Nick!
Thank Nick!! I’m was literally dying in class. One question, when is another bundle going to be available for run gum? Waiting for another run gum deal!
I started to get into retro walking/running in the last 3 weeks and it's crazy how that video was uploaded around the exact same time as my interest of it arose.
Nick! I'm in the Marine Corps, I would like for us to have a calisthenic competition on base or it can be off base!! It'll be totally up to you!! I'm a huge fan! Keep up the hardwork!
I love this. Very cool idea. But when you do it again I would recommend helmets. We are not built to catch ourselves falling backward and protect our head, it could be lethal. Keep up with the great videos! :-)
Backwards miles are so fun! I did 8:27 in November or December...the trick is to pace yourself, which I definitely did NOT do :D I went out at 6:30 pace to start! I think I can get under 8 on my 2nd try, which is coming up in a few weeks :)
Hey Nick! I was just on a google meet for my cross country, and a local store was showing shoes. And there was an Olympic runner named Moise Joseph. I looked him up on google and saw a picture of him running in the olympics alongside YOU! I thought that was so cool, and asked him if he ran with you. He said that you were an amazing runner, and that you and him were good friends.
Another nice vid nick, thanks for these :) i know running is nick's life, but i would like to see nick race his camera/tech guy (forgot his name sorryyyy) in a wheelbarrow 100m race. Not sure how hands would like the track, but maybe do it on grass :) and of course i dont mean like Pushing others, while sitting in wheelbarrow, allthough that could be Fun too, im sure you get the idea :)
Hey I love your videos great content! Also I didn't liked running distance and sprinting before 2021 but now I do and I am challenging my self to be my best and to go where we all want 1st Also and did do it
Suggestion, do an acft (army combat fitness test) and see how you stack up against the army standard im very curious to see what your score would be. The way to conduct is is all over the internet.
Your invite should have a Nickathlon with a dealer's choice of mixed track and field events with whatever equipment you can get access to. maybe no pole vault

You should do an all out downhill mile. I’d like to see the times. Or you could do a backwards 4x400
We need to see a nick symmonds marathon
I think since Nick is always talking about trying to be a all around athlete he should do a Murph challenge. 1 mile, 100 pull-ups, 200 pushups, 300 squats, and finish off with a mile. It was named after a fallen Navy Seal.
Nick symmonds OLYMPICs
Hi nike
Nick: we’re running a backwards mile
Me an intellectual: runs clockwise on the track
We thought about it! For some reason that seemed extra hard for my brain lol
I’m not a competitive runner but I train regularly at a track and frequently run clockwise to switch things up for my feet and leg muscles.
@@nicksymmonds @ if you ever see this it would be so cool to get the video in reverse to see what it looked like !

Should‘ve played the footage backwards and just have a really cursed race 😂
Watching this in reverse should result in the best comeback race ever with a 8 man photo finish
Brooo someone needs to reverse this that would be sick
genius comment
Next : running a marathon on all fours
A buddy of mine recently did this! Bear crawled 26.2
@@nicksymmonds wait was it the New York marathon because I think I heard about it
@@nicksymmonds i cant even imagine doing that. Thats just so impressive
My shoulders hurt just thinking about that 😐
That seems like pure pain
The kids that are going into school and seeing us probably thought we were on drugs
HAHAHAH anyways nice run bro! Also may I know your 5k timing. I’m not here to compare I’m only 15 and my 5k time is really bad :(

@@jeremiahfictum5983 you'll be able to get that time down a bunch don't worry. I'm like 5:10 mile and 18:46 5k but I'm focused on 800m nowadays.
bro i got a nice 5k time at an 18:28 but when i ran that my mile time was 5:19( now at 5:07) i wish i could have your mile speed
This mile hurt so bad I couldn’t walk for 3 days after this
I cant even imagine, I have done some backwards running to train for soccer, it’s insane. Massive respect for you haha!
Thanks for joining us!!!
I've tried running backwards and the after math Isn't fun😂 some serious stretches should be done after this😂

This looks so fun but I would've fallen over and hurt myself😂😅
Run one lap forward, one lap backwards, one lap sidesteps facing in and one lap sidesteps facing out. Runner choses what order they do it in
It would be really Nice
My entire being is hurting thinking about that noo
Winner gets $100, everyone else gets a concussion 😭
LMAO! No runners were harmed in the making of this film!!
the official running quote
“ i’m having so much fun out here but i’m in a lot of pain”

I’m not much for participation awards, but everyone deserved one for this event.
Nick, I would love to see and all out 3k steeplechase versus subscribers!
Maybe this summer!!
Now time for a one legged mile. Lol. 🤣
I’m still waiting for that elimination marathon
Honestly looks like running a mile backwards might be good for mobility and some small muscle growth.
It actually is proven to be a good exercise for muscles in your legs you don’t use often and it should help your running
That is very impressive to do that for a whole mile!! Your an inspiration for all!
No one:
Nick: finger walk up Mount Everest
After watching this, I really want to see the backwards mile in the olympics now.
