It's a decent camera BUT only in bright conditions. When it's dark, no matter what settings you'll use, picture sucks. I hope that next generation of Hero will have at least something similar to what we know as a "Night mode" on smartphones. And I see no reason to place the same processor in 10th gen. Hero 9 is my very first GoPro, so far I'm happy with it, just don't like the absence of Night mode as I mentioned before and I still can't get used to fast (if we compare it to smartphones) battery drain. But so far, yeah, I like it. P.S. Why it's impossible to simply drop the videos to Flash drive and watch them on TV? I mean the TV doesn't support the format of videos...?
Gopro is NOT the ONLY camera that is fit for ANY situation. It is missing a very important feature: Live Preview when recording is not supported. I like to use the Live Preview functionality on my phone to see what I'm recording. In the GoPro app, as soon as I start a recording, the live preview disappears and I get "Preview not available." Without this feature, Gopro 9 is useless in many of my recording situations.
I just purchased one and came to see the review here. I have to say I'm definitely looking forward to using this and making my own content very soon. Thank you very much for this video! 🙏👍💪

But i lost it while filming so i just ordered my 9 black. Excited as heck to start recording fishing videos in this super high quality

But for last 3 months the camera is shutting off,due to low battery warning,even when it has 25 to 35% battery life left.I use it for my mountain bike only in a steel mount cage.Then i put on a desk and not moving at all, and the battery goes to 0% and then shuts off.That's a weird thing that happens with my gp 9.

I have a 2009 Contour HD 1080p cam I mount on my bike helmet for mtn. biking footage. Its quality of video is laughable, compared to this Hero 9. We rode in some nice trails in San Felasco S.P. (FL) and the footage I played back was quite disappointing in every aspect. So, I already ordered the same bundle package he showed, it's a great deal! Can't wait to set it up and try it out.
this camera really deserve this money and i think i should buy it. I searched for cheap camera because in my country they are so expensive and i can’t find something better then Gopro

Hey Shane, thanks for watching! I would recommend those settings to be used with the GoPro in every situation. It's the best if you want great looking footage. :) Unfortunately, we do not sell LUTs. But you can definitely find some that work really well with GoPros :)
I have a hero 3 that stopped working about a year ago. I have a 5 black, a 7 silver and a 7 black. Each one has a stupid problem. I'm still buying a 9 black soon.
Thanks for this .... currently using my old Volkano action cam ... its frikken awesome and still works well but I need a case to use it underwater and it muffles the sound, so, was looking for a waterproof caseless cam... looked at the Akaso 7 but the internal mics are so bad ... you just sold me on the hero 9 ! the colors don't look great but they do look realistic, especially when you're sitting at your desk lol. also the regular wide view looks so much better than the extra wide. the color range is more too
Just bought the 9. First test was on an outdoor run using the chest plate mount. Picked up a ton of wind noise . How did you eliminate the amount of wind noise while you were skateboarding?
Did you adjust the wind noise settings on it? Also like in skydiving you're going to get a TON of wind noise, so like with most your skydiving videos, he probably edited the wind noise out. :)
Got mine for airsoft videos. Got the clear case, and a power bank for charging on my helm while i play. I didnt realize you have to open the battery compartment to charge it. Looks like i wont be charging while using. :/
Hero 8 user here. It's got 1080p @24fps @50 @100fps etc etc. And 2.7k ie 1440p and 4k For hero 9 it will be 1080p @30fps @60fps @100 and so on Also 2.7k res And 4k And 5k It also allows you to record on 4:3 aspect ratio.
At one point, it must have caused an issue. You cannot use a GoPro without something happening at least once. Try recording 4k 60fps. It will overheat. ANY review that doesn't point out these things is lucky. (Don't get me wrong, I love GoPro and have owned the 5,6,7,8 and now 9 (as well as Session) but they're FAR from perfect)
Hey Damian! Thanks for your comment. We reviewed our unit for about a month. In that period, we didn't face any overheating/shutting down issues. Yes, it does get quite hot when recording 4K 60FPS. But we didn't face any shutdown issues. But 100% agree with you, far from perfect.
So I’m too late Ik but these days I just want to record my life so yeah .. but I don’t have a laptop to edit I’ll edit in my phone / iPad so could this work with this camera??

Very informative. Thanks! How's the battery life on the 9? I have the 8 and am about to gift it to my father-in-law. The battery seemed to really die out quickly when I walked around a park randomly shooting. So it lost juice pretty quickly.

For longevity 9 is an upgrade to 8 because you can change the lens in case it scratches.
