- In this video I will restore old 19 century wardrobe that has faux wood painted on it. In this period the faux wood painting was a new thing and very popular finish. Doing it correctly requires knowledge about the materials and right techniques.

I was really concerned when you started painting with orange paint but I should have known that you know exactly what you are doing. Another beautiful outcome
I was going to comment the same exact thing about the orange paint. It looks amazing!!!!
@@angeltaraila6868 Same here! The end result is outstanding! AT Restoration = Craft plus History :)
Me three.
Same here!! It looks amazing
Today I learned that orange paint plus a bit of cardboard makes ebony wood! 😂 Joking aside, it was remarkable.
Your work always amazes me! Here, in the States, an old, beaten up piece such as this, would be sanded and finished with a colored chalk paint. Your artistry in creating a faux wood finish is what sets you apart. Lovely work!
You would be horrified at how much beautiful oak, walnut, cherry etc that I am asked to paint these days. Awful……. I now clear coat with shellac and then paint their pieces so that when the fashion changes they can recover that beauty more easily.
Lovely!
Watch Thomas Johnson Antique Furniture Restoration if you want to see an American who treats antique furniture properly. Putting a faux wood layer of paint on this is hardly different than rattle canning it, it's still covered in paint at the end of the day.
@@yarb2643 This is a piece of cheap pine furniture, and painting faux wood is exactly what they did with them when it was made. Love Thomas John:s videos by the way, watch them again and again.
I think you’re conflating “restoration” and “renovation”
This is the most interesting restoration I've ever seen. Fascinating technique with the paintbrush and torn cardboard. A real master at work!
Very cool. Lots of great tricks. Love your little belt sander. A lot of my viewers watch your videos.
I've seen many of your videos before but this one just stands out from all the rest. The way you managed to fully match the original paint was incredible and you make it look so easy. We are specialists in original painted furniture so this one really stands out to me. The paint is faux Rosewood and was used on pine in Eastern Europe in the 19th century to make it look like a more expensive piece than it really was. You have inspired me to make a couple of videos here and there!
Absolutely jaw-dropping. I still cannot believe I just watched this. 😱😱 You are no restorer my friend, you are an artist 👏👏👏👏
Nothing wrong with old school ways my friend. Your beautiful work here is proof of that. : )
ALWAY LOVE TO SEE YOUR WORK
Wonderful work. The cardboard “tool” for the faux finish is a great idea.
Cool technique for the faux bois
Everyone wake up AT Restoration posted 🎉🎉
It's a true pleasure watching a master work
So happy you’re safe and able to keep showing us your amazing craftsmanship. You are in a league of your own 🎨 🪵
Потрясающе! У вас золотые руки!
Very good faux finish technique!
I love watching you restore these pieces of furiture.
The painting and cardboard technique was amazing
I am literally blown away....that was an exquisite restoration.
And once again firewood becomes fine furniture! It's so entertaining to watch a master restore and rejuvenate classic furniture into basically works of art. Thanks again, as always, for sharing your awesome work with us. Be well, stay safe and God bless. Rev. D.
Amazing how you revive old furniture. Thanks again!
So beautiful and I am so happy to see you posting again. For me I would have watched the entire process from beginning to end and never been bored. This was by far too short a video. Love your work and can't wait for the next one!
Грамотная реставрация. Молодец.
Fab job replicating the faux wood grain finish with the trusty little scrap of cardboard. well done!
Wonderful restoration. That cupboard was originally built very well. It was originally probably an expensive piece of furniture. It is great to see it restored in such a professional and pleasing manner.
It’s mesmerizing how you transform these pieces. Love your work!
Excellent work! Looking at the original piece i assume it is some kind of softwood that had wood graining effect applied to it, in the same way modern furniture would make use of thin real wood veneers, or in the case of many manufacturers, printed images of real wood. That this traditional techniques has lasted so long is testimony to the quality of the original work. Your ability to match this after over 100 years is testimony to your own skill.
Although you have focussed more upon the new techniques this piece provided the opportunity for displaying, you have included sufficient material on your repairs and renewal of the damaged material prior to finishing to remind us how well versed in your profession you are. Not only do you do it well, you make it look easy. As a woodworking teacher of over 25 years experience I can vouch that none of what you have shown is as easy as you make it look.
I have enjoyed all your pervious videos and look forward to seeing what else you have to show us in the future. The calm music and lack of constant narration only makes your videos more watchable in my opinion. Proof it is not necessary to maintain a stream of (often) pointless babble just to remind us you are there, like the proverb about empty vessels making the most noise, which some content providers would do well to learn.
It looks easy because I cut the mistakes out :) I also tried different techniques with graining, but only one seemed right.
Craftsmanship and art, truly beautiful.
Jesuus, you are the best! Amazing!!!
Wow! Amazing paint technic!!!👍👍👍
Never have seen painting/staining/stiff paperboard scraping to create a simulated woodgrain technique in combination before. Believeable result is stunning.
That staining technique is fabulous. Great job!
This restoration is absolutely impressive! The attention to detail really brings the 19th-century wardrobe back to life. For anyone interested in vintage solid wood wardrobes, Chuck’s WoodBarn LLC offers some incredible handcrafted options that might pique your interest. Thanks for showcasing such an amazing transformation!
My grandfather was a carpenter and marquetry maker. He was born in 1905. He would be happy with the guys now. Thanks for keeping the knowledge.
The completed wardrobe is beautiful. Thanks for sharing the video with us. I admire your talent.
I didn't think this wardrobe looked as though it was worth saving, but after your magic touch it looks lovely. Please don't let us have to wait a month before your next video!

Замечательная работа.
Another great save!
I love your sense of humor!
So beautiful!
Wow. So Beautiful.
Absolutely 💯% perfect 🥰
The pieces you find to restore & bring back to what they were meant to be....... absolutely beautiful restoration
You are a fabulous artist wood worker. I watch you work these details and I am enthralled. I love how you recreate something old to something new but old still.
Beautifully done!
I have asked you this before, but it is quite notable in this video - that little finishing plane that you use on the patches and plugs you had to insert to repair this piece must be kept razor sharp! A plane that is even slightly dull will rip and mar the wood, something i know from experience. Asidefrom being the master of refinishing and repair, you are the master of tool maintenance. Thanks again.
Incredible. You are an artist.
Very impressive result. You are a magician! ❤️🇺🇦
Another masterful job. 👌😀
Very satisfying to watch!
Another great piece
Absolutely amazing!!!!!
MM77 Approved 👍🏼👍🏼

Fantastic! I was especially ticked by the teeny tiny green belt sander at 3:39 … I have never seen such a cute tool!
