Super excited about this game I am getting my 6 year old and I the dominion boxset kruel boyz and Stormcast for our first armies. Love AoS.
Nice!
As an AoS player, while I am happy Old World is coming back to the Tabletop, I am also excited for this because I also want to see the other factions HOPEFULLY joining along as separate dlcs or additional content later on with my hopes
That's so magnanimous of you.
As a Fantasy fan, I wish AOS to be canceled and for its fans to be left wondering why GW would do that to them when not even a week before they were selling rulebooks and sets!!!
Never trusting GW again
wake me up when sylvaneth or seraphon are up.
@@lordcommandernox9197Please excuse us while we play our non-dead game
How spiteful. Glad you won't be returning to the Old World then, you sound like you'd throw a hissy fit if you lost.@@lordcommandernox9197
@@lordcommandernox9197 go be angry on total war platform or something
I have been hoping for something like this for ages, I feel like one of the reasons that people don't give AoS a chance is because it doesn't have enough good media outside of the tabletop while Fantasy and 40k chug on, I really hope this is finally kicks off the wave of online popularity AoS has deserved for so long now
I really like Age of Sigmar's setting and premise. While Battle Fantasy is a end time apocalypse setting, Age of Sigmar is a post-apocalypse setting. Reality got destroyed in the end time so all the gods tried to rebuild pocket realms based on their theme (dead world for dead gods, violent worlds for violent gods, etc...). It's essentially barely held realms fighting each other for resources. The stormcast eternal i like a lot. Their lore is that Sigmar was losing the faith in men who all mostly turned to chaos so he artificially created people based on hero's souls who still worshiped him. Everytime they die, their body gets reforged and essentially are immortal. However, there is a dark grim twist. Unbeknownst to all of them, each time they get reforged, a piece of their persona gets lost in the process. So a Stormcast eternal can still enjoy sunsets but will eventually stop finding joy but will for, some reason, still watch a sunset cause that's their habit. It's not their memories they lose but the emotions they felt from them that disappears. Eventually, they will become just mindless soldiers who forget why they even wanted to be heroes in the first place. It's quite tragic! When Nagash the god of death offered them a way to stop being immortal and actually die for good, lot of them willingly accept the gift to get out of this cycle of depression. Pretty grim stuff!
The lore for AOS was that GW wanted to have copyrighted race names, even though they stole their races from authors such as Tolkien.
It's not genius, original or creative, it was a corporate move that ruined the settingg. You look at the setting you can clearly tell where the seems are.
@@lordcommandernox9197 Mhmm, sure buddy.
@@expanddongerydoo34 Definitely not your buddy.
Old WH Fantasy is as stock-standard Tolkien clone as it gets. AoS is exceedingly more fun & original@@lordcommandernox9197
I think AOS did start up rough but at the time the setting seem to be branching out, look at FEC which dispite having an small model range, has some of the best lore in-game it only an matter of time really
The game also has a map builder for those curious.
Thanks for the info Cody! Another great tips video
Kinda reminds me of a mix between Halo Wars 2's Blitz mode and Dawn of War 2.
It’s funny you should say that, my wife loved hall wars and has been playing the hell out of realms of ruin as well.
it is quite like DOW2
Thanks for the video
I like this game. I have one main complaint though: units are moving way too slow
Big Guys in Big Armor sell so much money that they made a new Warhammer Fantasy setting where the good guys can have Big Guys in Big Armor too
Yes in order to make money and offer services a business must look at what sells best. Well done economic study has done you well!❤
From what I understand the stormcast don’t even sell that well. Slaves to Darkness is the best selling army currently.
@@kosm999iirc it's a toss up. The Sigmarines and Slaves have so many models each, which usually means people like both. Some day we'll get some Beastmen updates. Someday...😢
from what I heard age of sigmar models are selling worse than battletech now including demon models
@@memed4509Not to be _that_ guy, but what’s your source on that?
Great guide, shame you didn’t mention the map builder, can’t wait to see the community creativity with that feature, RoR has shaped up to be quite the incredible game and I hope many people discover the wonderful world of AoS through it.
Watch how quick someone makes a penis or swastika
Can't say I like how it forces you to be agressive in order to win with victory points. There should be an extermination victory rule that you can use instead.
there is! it's definitely a gamble though and requires t3 units to pull off without blowback
the upgrayedd reference seems like a deep cut in 2023, very nice.
I'll wait and see if the Lumineth and named characters crop up.
Be interesting to see if this game gets a DLC out before Thrones of Decay..!
but the most important question is up in the open, will the stormcast eternals become skaven allies you can play as?
Very nice dude. Definitely a good first look for since I basically forgot the game was releasing
Question: Does this game require an external launcher and account, or can you play it directly through Steam?
Also, is there EasyAntiCheat or something equally invasive? I seem to recall that Tencent was involved somehow, but I could be confusing things.
Are blood and gore an option, or does that not exist?
The demo was directly through Steam, the full game should be as well.
I hope for Fyreslayers in this game
If i were to guess who is coming next i think gloomspite gots or ironjawz(goblins or bigger arder orks) cities of simgar or karadron (alliance of good and sky dwarves) khorne and flesheater courtes(they are ghouls and loads of new stuff is on its way)
I personally want to see Sylvaneth.
I’d love to see slaves to darkness
I'm going to wait until they come out with more factions. It reminds me of the old Dawn of War. And honestly I know they only had four factions to begin with, but I think I'm going to go with a wait and see approach.
I love this game.
Maybe add Skaven/ maggot kind of Nurgle/ slaves to darkness as a faction. Any of those will be a definite buy for me
Gonna give atry seems very promising
I am not that much into AOS so i am wondering what happend to Karl Franz and the other humans? Are they still in this world as a faction?
They all got blown up in the End Times, some human factions do exist but they serve under Sigmar now.
The paint option is fucking cool
Very interesting Title. Am liking everything im seeing so far
Looks quite good but I think I wait until it's on sale
Are we gonna get updates on Rogue Trader or no because it’s 40k? Just wondering. Thank you for another great video Cody Bonds!
I find it odd yet i kinda welcome includinf a specific chaos gods army instead of either all 4 or just not any of them.
before you press play or buy?
So fantasy has total war and AOS has off-brand company of heroes?
Is it just randomly generated battles for the campaign mode? No story?
Is there a campaign for all five armies? As in a story or just random maps?
There's a dedicated story mode with a bunch of missions that has you jumping between factions, plus Conquest, which is kinda like a Roguelite game mode. Plenty of story fro those that want it, I bought early access and it's a blast!
There's 1hr 30min worth of cutscenes so ye.

About 55% of all railways are set to standard gauge. This means that the rails are 1,435 milimeters apart and accommodates trains with wheels spaced out 1,435mm. This gauge was contrived by Robert Stephenson, one of the most important pioneers of railway technology in the early 19th century and who helped various European countries set up railways set to Standard Gauge. The US also bought British locomotives and adopted Standard Gauge. There are some exceptions. Narrower gauge railways are cheaper to build and maintain and can take narrower corners more easily and wider gauges offer a smoother ride and accommodate larger trains.
For various odd reasons, the British Empire used wider gauges in Ireland (1,600 mm) and India (1,676 mm). The various colonies (latter states) of Australia adopted various gauges including Standard, Narrow and Irish Wide gauge, which caused a lot of problems that took a century to sort out. Spain, a latecomer to Railway Development adopted a gauge of 1,668 mm specifically so that if the French invaded they could not run their trains on Spanish Tracks. Though the Spanish Colony of Cuba both acquired railways before mainland Spain set to standard Gauge. The Russian Empire similarly adopted a Wide Gauge of 1,524 mm for the same reason, a move which a century latter would hinder the Nazis during their invasion of the Soviet Union. Japan during the Meiji Restoration would adopt a Narrow Gauge of 1,067 mm, but would use Standard Gauge for their High Speed Rail transport system.
I think Maglev might be a bit smoother.
Indeed, the transfer of railway gauge from russian to european gauge was one of the first defensive measure of new independent polish state. And it helped to stall the soviets a bit. Sadly Poland hadn't anticipated that autocratic socialists band together 😅
That's very interesting, especially about the military considerations of different guages
Waited for this to be cheap on G2A. Got the Ultimate edition for $1.42 and that’s about the price it’s worth after playing the Beta
The demo had real dow 3 vibes 😅
I want Seraphon added to the game. At that time, I’ll pick up the game and play it
This game was so close to exactly what I wanted. I would have loved to create custom hero’s and be able to change equipment of my men. I hate storm hammers. I would give my shield boys either a giant mace or power sword. Don’t change anything but the aesthetic.
Is it limited to multiplayer pvp outside of the campaign?
It has a rogue like skirmish mode. A series of skirmishes vs ai with different modifiers.
You can play Vs the Ai in the Single player section. You can also do Conquest mode which is a long Campaign function that is generated using a seed. You can also host custom games to play again Ai with a friend. There is also a map making tool.
Man I hope they put in ogor mawtribes I’ll buy the game in a second
so it is CoHammer?
I may call it age of shitmar even if its pretty cool stuff. The meme is to strong. I may not buy the game on release either but damn is this cool, i do want it but i am sadly poor and have to wait for sales. God does this ever remind you of dawn of war 2 and like the hyper fantasy has so many cool layers to it. It will be added i am sure of it but the forces of life the Sylvaneth and the Pirahna fish people would be very nice to see later down the line :D
It sounds a lot like DoW2, which I absolutely loved.
More like Dow 3
@@sheepfly After playing it; no its definitely DOW 2.
So this game is very similar to Dawn of War 2 correct???
So this is KIND of like DoW?
Alright I’m guessing not but am I the only one who realized this is basically dawn of war three but good
Blessed Sigma!
I want all this. But Turn based.
AoS Storm Ground (published by Focus Ent), you can still buy, no playable representative of Grand Alliance of Destruction though
The planet "Grrr?"
I don't know if I should be amused or angry.
BOTH😊
It's "Ghur" - the Magic Wind of Beasts from Fantasy.
@@nachoguy5 Ghur... what you said made me really angry... Ghur...
@@mguy5923 Hey tbf I never said it wasn't silly in Fantasy lol
Like the game mechanic. Probably closest game to DOW 2 in a while. Only complain unit movement is too slow
The Total War games really shone a massive spotlight on Fantasy. I for one really can't tolerate many other fantasy settings after jumping into Warhammer fantasy, that includes Age of Sigmar, there's just something about it that doesn't click with me the way Fantasy does/did. I do think Fantasy suffers from a bad case of being TOO bleak, but I feel like AoS suffers from almost the opposite case of so much chopping and changing and all different realms and gods that nothing really feels like it matters anymore. It's a very unique predicament that I wish they could've just addressed by brightening the Fantasy setting a little more rather than literally nuking it and swinging back in the opposite direction.
Someones gonna make a Dota out of this on Map editor for sure
So this is Dawn of war 1/2 mixed with Age of SIgmar....how have I not heard about this months ago?! lol
Dawn of war 2 meets fantasy
Wow, cool new RTT game.
But I will wait for another one in 40k or fantasy battles setting.
Man idk if I'll get over the new look for the orcs
That’s just the Kruleboyz, they’re new to the setting, I don’t really hate them, I kinda like that they adapted differently from the Ironjawz and bonesplitterz, I’m sure they’ll add some of the classic boyz later on.
@@charlesclark8387I want my Gloomspite Gitz!!!!!😅
I want nurgle or slaneesh, but i know slaneesh doesnt get games because censorship issues
They're in Total War. It could work
The game is rated PEGI 16, close to ESRB M.
It seems to be like dow aos edition
So this game is essentially the AoS version of Company of Heroes/Dawn of War? Interesting.
Meh, not super interested, let me know if they add Seraphon, might check it out then.
This reminds me so much of the DoW that killed the series...with the map set up of grab these points to build on generators, small squad cap, small maps, and capture point focus stuff but...eh maybe it will work better in this sort of setting.
DoWII was great, piss off. You may go enjoy your favourite DoW3 :P
To bad it uses Denuvo. No sale for Spyware.
Games Workshop has banned salling of its products in Russia.
Frontier has banned selling this game in Russia too. On Steam only. We can buy it in Epic Games store, and the regional price is adequate - 1/3 at the world rate.
Although I condemn politicss and double standards, I really love Warhammer Age of Sigmar!
so it's kinda a MOBA?
DoW2-like, and I've played CoH2, Iron Harvest and Ancestors Legacy to be familiar enough with such breed of RTS.
Hmm made for console., maybe its more fun on there cause it really sucks on pc. They took everything bad from Dawn of War 3 and made it slower.
I dunno, I bought this game, cannot win a damn skirmish against normal AI. Orruk vs Stormcast, and they just overwhelm me every time, their hero kills all my units alone, my hero meanwhile is almost worthless...
Drop the difficulty. I wasn’t kidding about that part. It’s brutal at first.
@@codybonds And I'd assume than that easy is not too easy?
@@codybonds Yeah lol... Medium I could not win, Easy, was too easy to win. That sucks XD
new noob's guide when??
this game sounds like it Win more type of game. You lose points you started down ward spiraling lose a unite cap building you will be out number.
as well your income can go in tailspin as well. basically i can see Meta going be build around destroying focusing you enemy down instead taking control points.
I haven't played against people yet so idk about metas there, but at least against Ai (even normal like I'm playing against) there is a lot of push and pull
I won a game last night with only 13 points left on my team's score. Our enemy had over 300 and we managed a strong cap and kept ahold of 4 points out of 5 (some maps have 3 victory points, some have 5) and it was incredibly close but rewarding.
No Skaven, no buy, simple as.
Noobsguide when ? :D
Soon™
Gives me Dawn of war 2 vibes
1st tip. Game is total krap!
No Skavens, no thank you...
Why does it look like a ported mobile game from 2018?
Looks like Dawn of War 2 (thats a good thing)
What is with warhammer games trying to make the game a MOBA but try to trick the rts fans. game looks fine but its definitely not filling the need the community has.
it's warhammer company of heroes, there, done.
Waaaaagh!!!
Was kinda hype until I saw the retreat button, like in Dawn of War 2. Not a fan of this mechanic
Then you must be a "Not One Step Back" kind of RTS player, you not fond of replenishing lost squadmates after an engagement .
@@royasturias1784 I like risks in RTS : if I have planned an attack poorly, I find it cheap to be able to just ultra run home, instead of having to fight my way back while suffering casualties. Basically what was DoW 1 and is AoE2.
This is just dawn of war 3 but fantasy
this video feels like sponsored content without trying to look obvious about it.
Exactly
LOL!! So someone makes a high quality video without being whiny or petulant and your first thought is 'conspiracy'? Dude, the TW community has done you wrong. Expect better.
Sir why are all your knights pink, cmon bruh
this is so sad lol everyone keeps comparing it to DoW. yeah the worst fucking one, DoW3. a game built ENTIRELY around the least fun meta of all time. sad.
If I have one complaint for this game its the combat looking cartoony, Warhammer of all flavours is and should always be a brutal affair, the impact of say, a giant demigod of a man with the power of sigmar and anime on his side should rend flesh and send lesser foes flying, but in this game its two sides playing animations at eachother
My big hate for AoS actually didn't come from the Sig-Marines at first, it was Nighthaunt, having a ghost for everyone. Take Old World, it doesn't matter if you were Bill the tailor or Ulthar the Orc Slayer, you both end up as zombies in the same unit. AoS has what I call "D&D syndrome" where like D&D you have like 15 flavours of zombie, regular zombie is a monster but a zombie of a drowned man is a different monster, a zombie of a man betrayed is also a new monster and somehow has a higher CR. That kind of thing took me out of the setting.
Basic Deadwalker Zombies are literally still a thing, the Nighthaunt are just Nagash weaponizing his afterlife punishments as weaponized convict-soldiers
@@CrusadiaIX I'm aware of the normal zombies are still around, it's not the zombies themselves, it's that in D&D it's silly to have one of every monster in the setting, it's actually very much a thing with Stormcasts to have just an overflow of everything. Then you get something insulting like the "Flesh Eater Courts" kitbashing the Crypt Horrors and pretending it's a new unit.
@@melkhiordarkfell4354 The fact you dropped that particular comment barely an hour before Flesheater Courts had their full range update announced with new heroes, cavalry, infantry and Ushoran himself is very funny.
Tip 1: dont
the art style feels way to clean for something with warhammer in the title I really don't like it
Really surprised an age of sigmar game came out due to how little it's liked by the fanbase.
What are you talking about?
But they've already made one flop AOS game, guess they needed to be certain?
I mean AoS is alright. We’re long past the days of people hating it.
I’m more mad because I wanted Khorne and not fuckin Tzeentch in this game
@@lordcommandernox9197Storm ground wasn’t really a flop, it was a good game, they just missed on the longevity of such a game

I wanted to love it, but it felt like a game of whack a mole 😔
Boring video.
Would be nice if you spoke upon when to upgrade to tier 2 and 3 and for which factions benefit at which times as well as match ups between the factions. This bare bones description of the mechanics could be learned by reading and playing the tutorial.
Warhammer fantasy and Warhammer 40k had an awful mutant incest baby and now we have Age of Sugma
So you want to play this game...don't
Cody Bonds, from funny dad to human advertisement. No thanks.
Worst launch ever
Explain the Mostly Positive reception from Steam subscribers alone
@@royasturias1784 Then what is your positive, beside I don't trust the others
Warhammer was always dumb but AoS is both dumb and simplistic. Lore being compartmentalised, with worlds, things and characters being "The X of Y" reduces the complexity of thought put into worldbuilding to something far less than the sum of its parts. Warhammer was messy and contradictory, nobody had power levels, things happened, characters lived and died just when it was needed - pulpy, fun fiction.
Couldn't care less about AOS.
Its fun to hate at least.
Both Dow 1 and 2 are so much better than this crap, i guess new games can only be better at graphics because in gameplay they are failing hard.
From someone have not even played it lol, i played both dow1 &dow2 till today, and this game have its own potential. Dont need everygame have to be like dow1. This game play exactly like dow2 with more effect and skill & economy control
AOS? HARD PASS,
Who care 😂
@@heobinhlovemeo exactly, who cares about AOS when WFB is getting a release soon. Hopefully not you
Ya who cares about the second most popular tabletop wargame. Clearly WFB, a game outsold by paint, is far more important and we should all ignore this!
@@MySuperPowerIsITouchGrass until WHFB sells more because you already built your AOS armies and obviously they can't sell them to you twice, so what better way to sell you more figures than nuking AOS?
@@MySuperPowerIsITouchGrass That is what GW did to WHFB fans, they took their setting from them because it was so popular everyone already had 1 or 2 armies, and that's why it wasn't selling.
