Definition of a dead channel (cause a lot of people don't seem to understand) : A channel which has seen a massive reduction (90%+) of views and new subscribers since their peak with no genuine chance of recovery.

the drop in views also has to do with making less content, because of real life issues and general burnout, so it’s a bit disingenuous to say it’s because of disinterest. you should know UA-cam algorithm is hard, and moreso people forget quickly. So when they aren’t given the content as often as he was putting it out years prior, viewership will drop off naturally, as well as its display to other viewers outside subs

2+ Tough I’d say has one very important contribution to the AoS community: He was there when there was very few to truly appreciate the potential of the setting in those early days. Like a lonely gardener tending to an under-appreciated and barely living seedling, hoping it would one day bear fruit. His style and presentation radiated both a sense of patience and enthusiasm that I hadn’t really encountered in a lore channel, knowing the setting’s limitations but still giving it a chance. Without his videos, I probably wouldn’t have been interested at all.

@shlomogoldstein3373 its right behind 40k. Meaning its the second largest wargaming community which is massive.
40k just gets more fandom because its waaay older. It also has heaps of neckbeards and losers who only play pc games and wanna pretend they are part of the wargaming or hobby.
So you get a huge inflation of fans who are secondary fans who read free pdf, play cheap games and listen to free audio on UA-cam.

Not just for the sheer craziness of that sentence, but the fact that its not even noteworthy by AoS standards. In WFB, it took the literal end of the world to get anything like that happening. In AoS, something like that is just a foot note in another army's lore section. Absolutely hilarious!🤣🤣🤣

i dont want this though. i dont want AOS to turn into 40k but smaller scale. i liked fantasy where yes the gods fought but there was still general agreement on fighting certain people.
what i dislike about 40k is almost no one likes to team up or make agreements. there are exceptions, but thats the thing: exceptions. in fantasy pretty much every group outside chaos and the skaven/beastmen (and even then a few instances of agreements did exist). even the literal undead mummy faction was still sentient and could be reasoned with, even if settra was arrogant. it was much more like real life, in how while elves, dwarves, humans and their sub factions competed with eachother but still could agree on certain things. 40k just has everyone hate eachother

The fact that anyone with a pure heart and courage can become a storm cast no matter their occupation is what made them become better (to me) than the space marines, they're not just legendary warriors, they're the best of humanity in general, a baker who kept making food for the soldiers and the people to the very end and died after the defenses fell could become a storm cast, a noble lady who offered sanctuary to civilians can also become a storm cast, you don't have to be a great fighter or a fighter at all to become a storm cast, you just have to be a genuinely good person with the courage to do the right thing, i love it.

The Nachmund gauntlet is constantly in peril, but nothing changes. The Silent King returns, but nothing really changes galaxy-wide. Guilliman returns and brings the primaris....but nothing major changes.

    • @nate742
      @nate742 Рік тому +10

Indeed. It’s important for newcomers to realize that each grand alliance isn’t a cohesive or unified front, but rather loose coalitions that occasionally work together. Order might seem like obvious good guys, but each faction often butts heads with supposed Allies over fundamental disagreements. Chaos is always fighting amongst themselves as the Dark Gods play their Great Game. Destruction has constant battles of supremacy of who’s the biggest and baddest. Death might seem the most cohesive, where all answer to the will of Nagash, but even they are fractured by their differences

  • @thecoolerjon3506

What i like is the depth extends to other factions, not just the order "protagoninsts". I mean, chaos is in the midst of a civil war between archaon and belakor, the destuction factions and kragnos are being tricked by gobsprakk to further his own goals, and death, while basically united behind nagash, has proven to be a downright nightmarish opponent when they decide to fight.

Some Good places to start on AOS lore are obviously the Core Rulebook 3rd and the Soulbound RPG or online AOS lexicanum. My favorite novels I think are great starting places include:
Spear of Shadows: Great entry point into the world (my first novel :)
City of Secrets: First Witch hunter story of the setting. Its sequal is "The Silver Shard"
Gloomspite: You'll never laugh at a Grot ever again, or you might but you'll definitely respect them more
Soulwars: Ground level at the beginning of the Soul Wars
Nagash the Undying King: Backstory on chaos conquering the underworlds, fun.
Plague Garden and its Sequal Black Pyramid: Will likely make you like Stormcast.
Covens of Blood: Anthology book on Daughters of Khaine, some very good stuff in there.
Court of the Blind King: Idoneth Deepkin novel, basically a political thriller. And shows off Deepkin, there kinda like Dark Eldar, but not as big of assholes.
There are tons more novels these are just my personal favourites so far.
p.s. Yeah Majorkill I think you would kill it with AOS lore videos, I feel the setting has expanded enough to warrant regular videos. And as for 2+tough I wouldn't consider him dead yet, but I do agree his format is growing a little stale, other lore videos ( like HeyWoah for instance) can definitely make AOS lore videos with better success shows that just repeating basic information like out of a Textbook isn't really needed as much with so many more options on AOS lore now. However I still think 2+Tough can turn it around eventually but I think a change up to video style is needed.

You are blades, you are his shields, you are his vengeance. You are the finest, the strongest, the purest. In pain you were made, but in glory you will live. No purpose have you now but to bring terror to the enemy, to lay waste to his lands and to shatter his fortresses. We are sent now into the heart of nightmares. For ages uncounted this canker had festered across the face of the universe, extinguishing hope from the lands once claimed by our people. The war will be long. There will be suffering and there will be anguish, for we are set against the very legions of hell. But they know us not. They believe all contests to be over, and that nothing remains but plunder and petty cruelties. In secrecy we have been created, and our coming shall be to them as the ending of worlds. With our victory, the torment will cease. The slaughter will cease. We will cleanse these worlds with fire and consign these usurpers to the pits that spawned them forth. Let the years of shame be forgotten! The fallen shall be avenged, and the Dark Gods themselves shall feel our fury! Reconquest begins, my brothers! This night, we bring them war! I think AoS lore is really good at the moment
Dynasty of Monsters for an example is an excellent book even if you are not into warhammer so for a warhammer book it is pretty fucking good
Also i love morathi even tho she a bitch

Since you made Seth‘s video about warp entities that aren’t aligned with chaos. I’d like to propose a video idea of my own. About what remains of and references to ‘our’ era and earlier things from earth in the time of 40K. That’s something I’ve been interested in for a long time.
PS: Majorkill please tell me if you see this comment. So I know the idea is in your head.
