do i need to have outstanding acadmic grades, i got my bachelor degree with a low GPA of 2.7/4, and i contacted the professor interested in their program but they haven't answered me yet, do i have a chance or not ?
Hello there! Firstly I'll recommend that you go through the program requirements thoroughly and see if you are eligible (website: admissions.oist.jp/oist-research-internship-program-description) For sure good grades are a testament of one's academic prowess, but if you can convince the professors through your resume, statement of purpose and recommendation letter that you are good candidate, then maybe you have a chance at this opportnity. You have to make up for the less grades through other things like projects, research papers etc. I hope this answers your question.
I got my bachelor’s degree last year and for this year I started my master 1 that means that my transcript for the master is not yet available so how am I going to do to fill the transcript’s part ?
Hello there! In that case, you just need to upload the transcript from your bachelor's degree. In your CV, you'll anyway be mentioning the start month of your master's degree so they'll understand. In the OIST online application form, you'll be clearly mentioning the start and end dates of your degree, so don't worry.
Hello there! Kindly do not apply for project that show 'no availability'. If there are no openings then they won't be accepting students under that particular project.
Thank you for this video! I would like to apply for an Internship for 4 months, but I am flexible with the timing of that time period. Should I put in any time period and then say that I am flexible or should I put in the whole period where I could go to OIST and then say that I want to go for about 4 months later?
Hello there! So I logged into the OIST portal myself to check this thing... When you start your application, there is a section named "Duration of your visit". In that they have given certain "start" dates as a reference, so you need to select start dates only from that, but the "end" date can be flexible as long as it is less than 6 months. Also, in the end there is a question - "Are your requested dates flexible?" - YES/NO...you should select yes as it will give the faculty more flexibility as per their availability. I hope this answers your question.
Hello there! So for the recommendation letter the following detail has been mentioned on the website: "The application system will ask your recommenders directly for the letter(s), using the email contact details that you provide in the web application form. Please obtain the consent of your referee before submitting their details in the form. We do not accept any letters via email from applicants." So, what this means is that e.g. before you start filling out the application, you would talk to a professor from your college department (let's name him/her 'X') for a letter of reference for OIST. You'll tell him that OIST will contact you for the LOR. Now, when you start filling out the application, OIST will contact this 'professor X' directly for an LOR. You'll be notified through the system once OIST receives the LOR from 'professor X.' I hope this makes sense!
@@RayishaRana Appreciate your efforts. I've 3 follow up questions: 1. How to obtain letter of reference from my professor? Do I need to upload letter of reference while filling out the form? 2. How should my professor reply to OIST? A typed LOR over email or a scanned pdf attached to email? 3.Does OIST asks every applicant's professor for LOR in the first stage or is it something they ask after shortlisting few profiles
Hello there! When you start filling out the OIST application, there will be section where you'll have to mention the email ID of the referee...OIST will automatically contact the referee through the email provided and request an LOR from them. All that you need to do is to request a professor to be ready with an LOR for you and submit the same when they receive an email from OIST. (Ask your professor for an LOR template in PDF format and also to be prepared if they request a typed one.) I hope I answered your question.

My transcript is in French, so how can I do it in English?
Hello there!
You need to get your document translated professionally through a service centre, to keep the authenticity of the document intact.
And for my bachelor diploma I can submit it in French or I have to submit it in English ?
You can submit a single PDF file of your original degree and the translated degree. That will be better.
Thanks you for your help

2400 JPY as a daily allowance would be more than enough, but at least initially you should have some bit of money!
is it possible for the students of FSc pass to apply?
Hello Lisa!
Could you please tell me more about FSc... currently I don't have the right knowledge to comment on the same.
