First time I saw Metallic was in Germany in 1987. I now bring my grandson to their shows.
Seen em > 30 times live. They're no energy like it. Truly epic shows.
There are sooooo many amazing Metallica songs that when people ask us what our favorite song is, we list at least 20. 😂
Their 3 best albums are Ride The Lightning (thrash metal), Master Of Puppets and the Black album (which is more commercialized, so slower and more predictable e.g. lacking time signature changes). Pretty much any song from any of those albums is great, although they have PLENTY of amazing songs on their other albums. If you want guidance just ask us. We will be here to help you down this deep rabbit hole.

edit: They just released a new song a couple weeks ago called Lux Aeterna. It’s pretty good! A new album and tour is coming. You should consider getting tickets before it’s too late to see them live anymore. Not cheap though.

I only say Fade to Black as my fav because of the solo, it never gets old i guess... just madness of a solo.

I was at this show and my god was it phenomenal. During this song the rain was hammering down, but where lesser men would have stopped and hidden, the Metallica gods continued. Sublime.
I've been a fan of Metallica since my high school days. Now, I'm in my mid 50's and the guys still bring it like they did when they were in their 20's. These guys keep me young.

They have a couple of live albums out I think you should check out. The first was called Live Shit: Binge and Purge. It was a 3 disc live album. Also, check out their album called S&M done in 1999. They did a live concert with a live symphony. AMAZING!!!

I love the way you took metal and understand it to the point of becoming a fan. I highly recommend Metallica's concert in Seattle 1989, that was an incredible concert, Metallica was at the peak of its power, the entire concert is great, but I recommend listening to Master of Puppets.

You should react to Fade to Black live in Lincoln, Nebraska and Wherever I May Roam live in Denver, Colorado.
Personal opinion, they sound better after the pandemic. That break must have done them good because they almost have the classic Metallica sound. And I'm a die hard fan... But when I heard songs from the small venues they played during the pandemic I was blown away. They played a couple surprise shows in small venues in 2021. Announced the show the same day and made it so that you could only purchase tickets in person. Freaking wild... Plus! During the actual lockdowns they started releasing old live concerts in full every Monday. There's so much to go through, welcome to the Metallica family my guy. 🤘🏽😎🤘🏽

Damn 2019. I had tickets for this tour but they cancelled it before hitting Australia. This is what we missed out on.
Please view anything from their Seattle 1989 show. Arguably the best show they’ve ever done.

If you EVER get a chance to see Metallica do yourself a huge favor and go see them. There’s aren’t man bands who sound better live than in studio. I had tickets to see them in the early 90s and the concert got canceled and they didn’t make it back to my town until 2019 and I finally got to see them and it was on my bucket list.
My daughter is 24 years old and is as big of a Metallica fan as I am. I swear she knows every lyric to every song they have lol

And there's no The. Its simply Enter Sandman. And theres a dvd or alternate version where it shows Metallica stopping performance to get the crowd to calm down. Said if they didn't theyd have to stop show for everyone's safety. Becauee the military was in fear of being overtaken. After Metallica pleaded with crowd to keep it peaceful both crowd and military. And to Both enjoy the music and Show. And it worked they all enjoyed rwst of show. And Military officials there thanked Metallica and said they greatly appreciated how they helped de escalate potentially disastrous situation.

wasted reaction imo! No music was meant to listen to being performed by bands in the twilight of their career! They sound terrible imo! Not the same energy as when they actually created the music which is the way they intended for it to be listened to. This one actually makes me sad that you had to experience it the first time like this. Again, imo, you should just skip any live performances with the super rare exception and listen to the original recording or the original music video unless its a second listening.
