I still listen to The Swellers all the time! I wish they were more successful so we could keep getting new music. So many memories attached to this song, 2009, Fire Away, Everest, Got Social, man I hope they're all happy and doing well.
This song still makes me cry no matter how times I listen. I’ve buried an endless amount of memories of a couple women from my past that just bring me pain now, but this song has helped bring them to the surface in such a beautiful way. I sincerely can’t put into words how cathartic this all is. It honestly illicits so many emotions I can’t put into words how much it resonates with me. I love and miss this band so much
Found this band because of my guitar instructor showed me this song and said, "You wanna learn it?" I said "Freak yeah!" best song I ever learned and still love playing it!
Can totally say I'm now a fan of The Swellers. Meeting them after a gig was pretty sweet too :D My friend was pressured into buying a t-shirt, it was hilarious.
Just finding these guys now in 2024 😢 started following Nick’s pedal company and bought one of his pedals, found out he produced early Hot Mulligan, and traced it farther back to The Swellers. Wow. So good!!
I got to see them live a couple of years ago. they're so nice and can really put on a show. wish they were still a band. they're so awesome and needed to more credit than they desered.
Man I still love this fucking song. Being a ‘96 born kid, 23 now with a single mother who’s father passed away when they were 6, when he said “every day of ‘99”, I absolutely felt that. This song gets me nostalgic as fuck for those last years of the 90’s and all those years growing up into the 2000’s. Don’t think I’d be where I am without this song, it’ll always be playing in the back of my head.
I talked to Johnathan before, he's one of the coolest and most genuine people I've ever talked to. I miss The Swellers. They're way too underrated, and they could've transformed music if they stayed together. It's makes me sad that they stopped because their manager was bad at his job. RIP The Swellers, you were the best I ever had
a friend stumbled upon you guys while we were skyping last night around 3 in the morning... heard the first verse and chorus of this song and immediately went to itunes and downloaded this album. you guys are insanely good, and this song brings back wonderful memories... thank you.
Lately this song save me and give me a little sadness, that I had something good in my life. I saw a lot of great bands in my hometown, on the festivals. I’m so happy, that it was in my life. Guys, I hope you’ll never know the pain of parting with your wife and child.
Just saw them a last night in Dallas it was awesome had a pretty good convo with them. But the best part is that one of their friends went on stage and proposed to his girlfriend. She said yes and it was really touching I hope they have a long and happy Marriage
I know the band when you guys came to Singapore with Paramore many years back. Been listening to you all ever since and your songs accompanied me thruout my adulthood, its not easy 😔. Still not easy..
i just had to watch this, my teacher used to play bass for them when they were starting out, it's so weird to imagine him jamming out if he still stayed.
I remember seeing them play this live at Warped Tour, White River Amphitheater, WA. I stopped a few songs before this and I’m really happy I did. I would have regretted never getting to know this song.
Sitting @ the airport waiting for the plane to land and finally take me back home, thinking over and over about people i met. Things that I should've done or should've said to the special one's... Tomorrow i will put this song on @ 7:00 and it will bring me back into vacation mode. It's 2019 and the best i ever had is more than ever actual today.
the mood of this song goes from like YEAH THE SWELLERS AWESOME, to aww happy song, and then by the end its sad as fuck. especially once you realize how we can all relate to it.
The only way I can say this is I am heart broken I love this band unconditionally because they are so sweet and really talented. I feel privileged to have the honer to meet them. RIP The Swellers you will be missed.
The reference to 1994 tugs the hearstrings. Such a great year for punk rock. SO many good releases. These dudes softened up quite a bit, but they still know where they came from.
A guy from DPPG told me to look up this band and I am impressed. I hate that I'm impressed though cause from what I'm seeing here, they've broken up. Also, quick question: will I eventually unhear the lisp?
