This was hilarious lol Those XLR to 1/8th" and cigarette smell had me dying. I was genuinely surprised at how they sounded. Figured they would have just sounded completely distorted and blown out, but they did hold their own a bit. You summed it up best though. For the money, not a bad extra little tool in the tool box. Next you guys should tackle gtz toolz mics. Those are actually pretty good sounding for like $140. Got my "FET 47" for like $150 lol
@@in.der.welt.sein. I can confirm that mine didn’t smell like smoke and came in nicer boxes. Also feel quite a bit heftier. But as far as the internal components, could be. They sound good though so that’s good enough for me 👍
@@danthegeetarman they do sound good. I have the 103 and 87. The 103 is terrible on my voice and as drum overheads (too sibilant and harsh), but sounds great on acoustic instruments, electric guitar and bass.
Look up what an 'electret' microphone is, it's actually rather interesting. They have permanently embedded static. Common electrets have a FET preamplifier built in which requires external power. I use 6mm Panasonic items (which are highly regarded in audio monitoring, or something or rather?) and the like for radio communications. I typically bias them at around 2V with a series resistor, and they are more than sufficient for my audio bandwidth requirements. Electrets typically have a flat response, and aren't usually remarkable, there's not much to write home about on richness or flavour, and there's no real grunt to them. They do have good sensitivity, and I think a pretty good signal to noise ratio depending on the application. Directionality, most I would assume, are omni, with some claiming cardioid and even noise cancelling.
@@makebelievestudio too bad, I've heard good things about the sm57 clones and I'd love to try the mic IR that gives them a similar eq curve as a U87 haha
Just got the TLM103 knockoff from Temu today and I imagine that if you run it through some decent filter boxes, you can hardly tell the difference between it and the real Neumann....or at least I hope so. It sure LOOKS the part!!
Kinda reminds me of a pair of thermal jeans I got from Temu. They cost cheap, fit snug, and felt warm and toasty... but that cigarette odor took WEEKS to wash out!
That 87 was surprisingly good. I wonder if they are somewhat consistent in sound and quality between units.
I wouldn’t count on it
Great video rick! Its awesome to see someone bit the bullet and bought tried these out
Justin is wonderful!

Oh the whole thing is funny from the go! Okay we’ll try it!
The gtz mics are probably these same mics with a badge glued on and different packaging

I can't find these mics idk why 🤣
Could you send link to the u87 mic? 🔗

Amazing, lol. What was the story on the 57s? Just no signal?
DOA!
I need a link to the u87 🤣
The review I didn’t know I needed😅💯
The review you definitely needed
@@makebelievestudio absolutely

Bruh you definitely just shot the price up I bet. Lemme go check. Ahha love it. I’m gonna buy one for shits and giggles.
Hahahaha let us know how it works for you
@@makebelievestudio which would you recommend for vocals?? 👀👀👀
@@letsstartapeaceriot probably the 87
I'm imagining a sweatshop in Asia that looks like a 1980s Vegas casino floor saturating everything in cigarette smoke
hahahaha this is great
Does it have the Chinese hum noise? Lol
Not this one! But in return we got 3 dead 57s

the TLM was our least favorite (well, actually the sm57s cause they didn't work lolol) but the 87 was kinda cool for what it is!
Smells like cigs to give it more vintage vibe
Smokey mids
Smells like cigarettes and piss and sounds way better than 30 dollars should ever get you
Kinda reminds me of a pair of thermal jeans I got from Temu.

no they dont. i have used them for a couple sessions and artist didnt even know.
I just posted a temu tech review of a microphone today. Check it out if you like. It's not horrible
For $30 usd its a lot of bang for your buck
Honestly pretty impressed for 30 bucks
Don't know why you bothered you had a negative mindset to stat with
Cause it’s temu microphones Lolol!
