They hit the nail on the head, any expression or concept can be considered art, it doesn’t matter if you like it or not. If something comes from the mind and is put out for the world to see, that’s art no matter the quality.

We all connect differently, and all have a different perspective or opinion. One does not cancel out the other.
I think it also depends on the emotional provocation regardless of content quality or proper tools. It helps to fulfill your vision to the full extent, but isn't necessary. And sometimes, the *rawness* you get without using them, gives a better outcome. But that is where my heart relates to art. "What is the *Real* art?"

Art is meant to elicit feeling, good or bad, love, sadness, fear etc. I am an artist- mostly a painter and sculptor. In college I created a piece that many didn't consider art and were offended. I sculpted a hand holding a gun with a mirror attached so that when the viewers looked in the mirror, it looked like they were pointing a gun to their heads. I had recently been raped. I reported it, but the school board didn't take it seriously and I wanted to kill myself when I found out he did it to someone else R.A.'s Wondering is very sililar to my story, I assure you this is my own. A few people's disdained did not take away the artistic nature of my sculpture, nor it's message. In fact, it validated my piece. I wanted people to know that they may be the only one tragedy away from their entire lives being shattered. The school board destroyed it. The following year almost every art student took their best pieces and shattered them.

@thaimperial9780 @thaimperial9780 Thanks, I appreciate that! I wish I could say that was the worst thing that's ever happened to me. As a child, I was neglected, beaten, starved, and molested. My own father tried to kill me and my mother (who was a drug addict), then he kidnapped me. Art was my coping mechanism, I don't hang any of my pieces in my house because they make me cry. I'm not as strong as you think I am, that strength has emerged fleetingly throughout my life. I lost the use of my hands 3 years ago, and with that, my identity. I don't know what's next for me, but I dream of pieces I want to create- so they will remain in my head for now. ✌️

artist here. this is what decides the value of art in the first place. if someone makes something and says that its valuable to them, then its art to them. if someone places artistic value onto something that wasnt originally intended to be artistic, that thing still has artistic value. when enough people like the same thing, it becomes valuable, categorized, packaged and paraded around. when someone says "thats not art" they are actually just saying "that has no artistic value to me." the first statement is something an idiot would say, but the second statement is valid enough if youre listening for it.

Art is a vague undefined term; so, anything can be art. It depends on a person.
ART is completely subjective. What is shit to someone could be gold to another.
I'm Native American and there's not a word in tribal languages that translates into art. I dance at pow wows, and made my regalia. I need to know how to draw, sew, and make various items for my outfit. But I don't consider myself an artist or what I make art, even though I'm artistic. I'm a grass dancer and what I do is a part of my culture, walking the red road.
Any type of “real/ good” Art offers only true values in one form or another and last but not the least, It offers you some sort of consolation which can be in form of happiness and joy or anything that a person truly wishes to see/feel within themselves.

A blood stain from a loved ones suicide can be art, or a diarrhea on a dogs face. Anything is art, but some of it sucks, and some of it’s awesome. But it can all be art, even mumble rap.
We can't decide if something is art or not; we can only try to understand it. When I say "we" decide, it's because "we" do it collectively, as a culture. And cultural definition of what is art changes as time goes on. Look at rap for instance: rap, which stems from a musical and poetic tradition, evolved into its own thing, independant of both, and now has an identity - formal, esthetic issues of its own.
This logic also applies in the future: we will become retrograde and not accept as art what the next generation deems as such. Mumble rap is not boom-bap, it's not hip-hop; it's its own phenomenon, and can only be interpreted as such. Something can never be "art" universally, it can only be "art" as determined by a social and historical setting and coming from a specific tradition.

I think art by nature is subjective to the viewer. Art to one is not art to another and that's just how it will always be and that's a good thing too because we don't need a gatekeeper on what's art and what isn't. Anything that we can find beauty in in some form is artistic. Could even consider nature and the entire universe art. I don't know who gets the credit as artist, whether God, Buddha, Allah, or insert deity of choice here, but it's absolutely a masterpiece to many.

So, even in hell (wars to make the few prosper while using the youth as cannon fodder) the spirit resides in the heart of corrupt nations battling other corrupt nations with the people they forcefully condition to mistake themselves to be nothing but proud bodies....rallying behind a flag and then reduce the 'others' as a disconnected body without a unified spirit.....hell. There is even a silver lining around all that...and thus it's all art...even the worst things the young innocent kids go through, eventually turns into timeless wisdom....So the insane worlds definition of 'art'....is so proud stilted ego nonsense and the reality is simple.
