Someone please tell the writers that someone doesn't need to be a rude condescending person to show that they are strong independent women. God I hate these type of main characters.
I figured she was rude and condescending moreso because she's a New Yorker which I fin entertaining. lol The small amount that I watched 39Daph play didn't seem too bad, maybe because the protags' personality isn't too far from hers.
These aren't characters that people aspire to be. When you meet people like the protagonist IRL they are similarly dislikeable. Why would you design a character to be this way!?

I agree so much. Loved the combat during the demo but from what I've seen from other people play, it reminds me way too much of Borderlands 3. You have these *annoying,* unlikable people in your ear constantly yammering at you with no way to shut them up. The world is dead, with boring NPCs. Decided I'm gonna wait for a steep discount to buy it.

This is how I feel when people tell me to watch a series that is supposed to get good after 1-2 seasons. Forspoken doesn't respect your time. They think you will sit through 10+ hours of shit to have some fun with the game and that's absurd. Ranton's review entertained me more than the game.

I was planning on playing it for a while, but if it takes 10-20 hours for the game to stop hand-holding you and for the gameplay to actually get good, I might give it a miss (or at least wait 'til it's heavily discounted)
Yeah it shouldn't take 10-20 hours for a game to become playable. I think it's fair giving it a 5/10 though and would have to also wait till it's heavily discounted to purchase if I even do that. I think though im going to skip it because I have watched some gameplay and I absolutely can't stand the dialogue from all characters it's super disinteresting.

Just because it took 10-20 hrs for it to get good for someone else doesn’t mean it will for you. You can finish the story in 10 hrs if you want, unlocking all combat abilities, if that’s the point things “get fun” for you
@@lolnoob5015 Yes agreed but, devils advocate combat and features that make the game what it is shouldn't be locked behind hours of cutscenes and tutorials. Like I love combat and games that reward you for the appropriate challenge such as the soulsborne games but, a majority of that content isn't locked behind cutscenes and tutorials.
@@sethwood1676 soulsborne games aren’t story based action rpgs. And they’re definitely not jrpgs.
RPG games don’t start you off with all your strongest abilities and sets. There’s a reason why the story in forspoken is shorter than most games. I.e. hogwarts legacy/assassins creed. The story essentially ends after you fourth major boss battle. And it’s at that point you have the complete set of your abilities to mix and match. But that’s all preference. Some people like fire abilities so the game gets fun for them right after the first boss battle, others like water magic some don’t mind earth magic.
Comparing this to an avatar game the alternative would be starting out as avatar a
Aang in an rpg, with all bending powers when it doesn’t make sense because you haven’t learnt them yet.

Watching this man review a game is an experience. As for the game, I saw a comment somewhere that Forspoken is like a tech demo that was then later stretched into a game. From what I see and hear about it. Makes sense to put it that way.

I'm going to be honest, Ranton is one of the only popular video game review/commentary youtubers I know who actually looks at the positive aspects of video games that the internet collectively deems bad or awful. Its a breath of fresh air when almost everything else is negativity.

The cuff probably was supposed to be like Grimoire Weiss from Nier, which is a awesome character and made the dialog fun. But if you do it wrong... you might as well remove from the game to improve the experience.

I can agree with people not liking the other aspects of the game. but when I see them calling the combat bad or trash, I just know they either didn't play it or they didn't get the hang out it lol. I don't even have the game, I cleared out the demo though, and even only having the two magics in the demo, it was fking amazing.

I really like the story of the villain character (spoilers if you care):
It having been created for revenge, being belittled and underestimated throughout the events of the game, being given a name it didn't want, traumatized by the death of the people who created it, and then in the end being shown mercy, being given the opportunity to choose its own name and by such its identity.... chefs kiss. I love that kind of narrative.
That said I'm not paying 70$ just cos i like one character lol

Honestly i just wait for ranton reviews cause its always accurate to what i would or not enjoy..

I did enjoy the game and absolutely loved the combat and traversal. But I have to say the really annoying thing about the chests, even the fucking puzzle box chests that guarantee a coin that is supposed to be a rare valuable currency, is that that rare valuable currency becomes useless after a very short time. There are three merchants in the main city, only two of them even take those coins, one sells cat toys and the other random upgrades you can put on cloaks. And both of them sell their stuff for extremely cheap prices. So once you've bought it all you would think theres no point to even collecting the coins anymore because nobody else takes them. The third merchant only takes these little dolls that you get from following some of the cats around the city, and again only two out of five of his items are unique, ones a cloak, another is I think a necklace or nail design and then the other three are just " rare " crafting items that you also will collect way too much of and will no longer have a use for later.
Here's the really wierd thing though. In the very last tanta land you go to, the one with an ugly green tint everywhere? Yeah there's actually ahouse with a secret merchant break zombie who for some reason is completely sentient and fine and can talk, even though every other person ever infected with the break dies or becomes a mindless beast. And he actually sells some pretty cool and useful stuff for the coins. And his shit is moderately expensive.
Problem is like ranton said there are no missions or other little quests anywhere near him and by the time you've found him or figured out he's even there? You've probably already finished the fucking game, like I had done. And at that point his cool items that actually could have been helpful are now useless.
Thank you Ranton for making me laugh and making the day just a bit better.

Sadly I cannot deal with the character I'm forced to play the whole way through. I'm sure I could eventually enjoy eating turds and enjoying the soft spots rather than the nuts but I don't care to force myself through it when I have loads of other games to enjoy right away.

You completely nailed this. I'm 15 hours into Forspoken and it's a different game! Man I've having a blast. I almost gave up at the 6 hour mark. Around 8 hours and suddenly it's transformers into a different game. Why the developers padded this game for 8 hours is just nuts. If they were to do an update and strip out the first 8 hours and let people start the game at Chapter 4..... whole different ballgame. It's a shame because after 8-10 hours, very fun game!

I just watched your review and I got to say you've convinced me to try this game...when it goes on sale lol.
How you felt about this game reminds me of the OG Nier back in 2010 in some ways, though the story and music were the highlights and not the gameplay like it is here. A significant portion of the game was just fetch quests that are slowly leading you to the main plot, which gets really good in the 2nd half.
That game wasn't particularly good overall, but was a highly memorable experience for those that stuck with it for the story.
I appreciate you taking the time to suffer through the game to give a solid and hilarious review of the actual pros and cons, instead of being all like "1/10, no heart, graphics bad".
