Another great fly, Michael! It doesn’t always have to be overly complicated to catch well!

Gotta love yellow bucktail. I always thought this one was the "dark" before I learned it referred to the wing. Cool that you found the brass eyes at Whitetail FT Supplies. I think the owner of that company was an expert on deer hair, wrote a pamphlet on tying with it too.He may have passed away, and I remember he commented on a Davie McPhail video asking why Davie used that brand of thread. OK, just went to their website, Chris Helm was his name. If he's still around I don't know, the store has a new owner I guess. But I've watched 2 of their videos on the shop's youtube channel. Sorry, took the third cup of hi-test coffee to kick-start my brain 🧠🦿and more research 🔍 👀Anyway great video my friend, Edson's Tigers are pretty cool. Think I might have to get some looong herl to tie the Light. Thanks Michael & Ulla, great theme.

Thanks Joe. I agree: Edson's way of naming these was a bit confusing. I actually got my brass eyes years ago from a guy who had a small production going. When he stopped that side business he sold the rest to Whitetail. If you're still jacked up on cooffe check out the Edson Dark Tiger that came out today.
      Cheers, buddy :0)

Nice one Michael! A classic! IIRC, this is the second streamer fly pattern (first was a Mickey Finn) that I ever tied. Didn't have any brass eyes so I used jungle cock which, 60 years ago, was readily available. Because of this patterns' effectiveness I came to believe that a streamer flies worked better if they had eyes. Still believe that. Cheers!

Thanks Hank. Oh yeah Mickey Finn is a classic as well. Also one of the first flies i tied, and I have had a few in my box ever since. I'm agree on the importance of eyes on streamers. Cheers, Michael 🙂
