    Will small mouth bass eat this?

      @TroutFlies  3 роки тому +3

      yeah, but only if big carp are rolling all around you, taunting and shattering dreams.

    Great sculpin imitation. When I tied flies as a kid I showed them to my mom and if she said she would swat it I considered it a keeper.

    Nicely tied, and definitely a winner as shown!

      The only thing I really caught em on consistently this month!

    This is a great fly to get the attention of BIG trout. I purchase these from TroutFlies to support his effort and sharing. The flies fish great on my euro rig. I also tie a variant with a lot more wraps of lead wire that I use on a standard fly rod, still using the same jig hook. TroutFlies does a much better job of tying than me, but somehow mine seem to work. This pattern always brings bigger than usual trout to the net regardless of the time of day or season. The big bully browns just can't resist it. Highly recommended. Thanks TroutFlies!

      Thanks for the kind words Curt! Glad it's producing for you! Got a video coming out tomorrow on Strawberry... Guess which fly caught most of em?

    Are you fishing that sculpzilla on a traditional rig, euro rig or both?

    • @TroutFlies
      @TroutFlies  3 роки тому

      I fish it exclusively on the euro rig, but I will swing it it or strip on that rig too.

    This fly rips lip! I've only fished um 1 time since I ordered them from your website. In 2hrs I caught a couple bows on the Ogden jigging them through a small run! I'm anxious to try them on some of my favorite spots! Take care Bob✌

      Glad they moved some fish. People have been sending me pictures of fish they've caught on em. People catch bigger fish than I do lol.

    I tied up a similar fly to this, after seeing your video, and at Deer Creek Reservoir the Rainbows were all over it. Seven fish in an hour that I landed. I hooked into 10. They weren't interested at all in my nymphs, just the streamer.

    Do you use a euro rod set up or just tight line a regular set up.

      I use my Euro Setup. The reach is helpful for a vertical presentation.

    Bob, what brand hackle do you use for the red gills? Would a Metz soft hackle feather in red work? Love this pattern! Thanks!!

    • @TroutFlies
      @TroutFlies  2 роки тому +1

      Any red hackle feather or soft hackle will work. Guinea fowl, strung Chinese saddle hackle feathers, or hen will all work well. I personally use feathers from a whiting American rooster saddle pelt. That's more for cost effectiveness though.

    My most productive jig streamer is Curtis Fry's jig sculpin. I have a feeling yours will crush it!

    • @TroutFlies
      @TroutFlies  2 роки тому

      It's a killer. Curtis ties a good one too!

    I like when a tier explains not only their steps, but helpful tips as well. And action shots at the end is great too. Well done

    Looks terrific! Very big rib wire that 0.15, use it for anchor eh?

    • @TroutFlies
      @TroutFlies  2 роки тому +1

      Yep! I usually fish this on point and want it down quick. Also the .015 wire keeps the bigger beads in place better too!

    Just purchased and can't wait to get one on the water. When using a Euro setup do you typically fish this solo or do you add a second tagged fly?

    • @TroutFlies
      @TroutFlies  2 роки тому +1

      I pretty much always fish a double streamer rig. Usually paired with a small micro jig bugger or Lance Egan's Jig Streamer. I fish this on point though and it gets eaten 90-95% of the time so the double rig might not be so necessary.

      Also I have a tutorial that includes my rig and some other thoughts. ua-cam.com/video/1sDKq-P-8dY/v-deo.html
