Although I am not a certified welder, I have been welding cars and machinery for over 20 years. I can see that your welds are absolutely fine. (mine have never let me down either!) "Good enough to do the job" is something that a lot of UA-cam armchair commentators freak out over. Take no notice Andrew. For every idiot that complains, there's a 100 guys like me who enjoy your videos enormously. Keep on going and ignore the muppets!

Hey man, your welds hold. If they aren't text book I would say because you are not a professional welder. You are however very well rounded and definitely have much more skill than about 95% of people when it comes to construction, plumbing, electrical, excavation, heavy equipment operation and mechanics. I'd rather have all that knowledge and competency across a broad range than someone that is just certified in running beads all day. Keep up the great work. You are very inspiring.

Exactly. Andrew fixes his own equipment...so he is a self-made welder more than likely. I'd be willing to bet he could even teach pro welders a thing or two, even though he doesn't use all the same methods they do. Besides, sometimes you need fresh eyes on a problem--that way they are unbiased and can see new techniques that nobody else thought of. And his mistakes are his way of cementing his knowledge for life, as long as he learns from them, which he does. Keep it up Andrew, you are doing great.

I agree its not like your welding pipe line. A weld doesnt have to look good to hold plus your gonna have to cut it off when you replace the tooth again. Who cares what it looks like as long as it holds. I wouldnt waste my time explaining myself. You do a hell of a job on all your jobs plus you can do anything. My thoughts on welding are. I am not a pro. so I do not weld anything that requires it be safe for road use. If it sticks together then it is a good weld. If it looks like crap and sticks together then it is a good weld. If it breaks after a year of use and has to be re-welded then it WAS a good weld. LOL, everyone, has an opinion don't sweat it, brother.

I have 13 acres of rock just like that. Ive slowly been working on moving them to make more useable yard. MY equipment keeps getting bigger to deal with it too. Hello Andrew,
First time commenter on your website. I just came across your channel in the last two weeks and I can't get enough of your videos and your work! Just superb! I say Amen to all the other comments sticking up for you against the occasional critic and nay-sayer. Google, UA-cam, and the internet has made experts out of everyone it seems. Don't pay any attention to them. They are the kind that lay around on their couch all day doing nothing, wishing they could do 1/20th of what you do everyday. You are a "get-r-done" guy and you have a business with repeat customers. Good for you! Unless someone has started and built a business in the customer service industry from the ground up, they have absolutely no idea how hard it is to become and stay successful. You make it look easy, and the uninitiated and lazy sloth bag thinks its as easy as you make it look. He has no appreciation for the time and experience required to do what you do. I for one and along with many of your viewers appreciate all the time and effort you put in to making the videos, doing the drone shots and the before and after's. Keep it up! it allows some of us old guys who can still dream to live out our fantasies vicariously through your
    phenomenal work! Dan Hartman

I think you do good work, and same for your welding. I'm a machinist, but I learn a lot from your videos. You're definitely good at what you do.

Welding doesn't have to be beautiful to be strong and handle the task at hand the welding I've seen you do keeps the machine's going and money coming in and that's all that matters! Haters are going to hate

How can anyone not like Andrew. Hell he even mentions the guy is doing a good job digging on his second day of ever operating the excavator. The 146 thumbsdown as of today are the ones who are envious of not having Andrew's talent, good manners, exceptionally calm demeanour and ability to do anything (I know I said talent but it deserved a second mention IMO).
I shall regret when I have binge watch all the past videos and will have to wait for new footage of his endeavours and Lab expeditions.

Superstar welders making comments about welds they have never attempted is so pathetic. They probably think they are great because they lay down a nice looking bead with their 120v MIG welder and have never actually seen a stick welder.
The 3 1/2’ depth should be okay unless that spot is a part of the driveway where the frost can go a lot deeper.
    Tough job site though.

typically its hourly based on the machine being used. He would be able to roughly guess how long the job would take just from experience to give the customer an approx final cost.
