  • Flash as an API may be dead but its legacy lives on in Krita. With it you can use elements made in Krita to make frame by frame animations. In this video I teach YOU how to use it in a basic sense and launch you back into the early 2000's.

    For me Flash was a magical interactive video. I want that back somehow.

    Great intro to animation.
    Correct me if I'm wrong but what ffmpeg does is encode a video, and it was possible to embed videos in Flash. It doesn't however create an SWF or FLV file, which are the binary file format that the Flash player can play (with the video embedded in it). So it's not quite right to say Flash is supported. It's that the video encoding formats that were supported by Flash are also supported natively by browsers.
    And regardless of the above, even if Krita + ffmpeg can export SWF files, since the Flash player is not longer available in modern browsers you would not be able to play it.

      Absolutely! Full transparency I'm aware that FFMPEG and flash are not quite the same thing and the reason I used the term flash in the video, thumbnail, and title was to be more favorable to the algorithm. As a small creator I need every advantage I can get even if it means playing games to do that.
      I appreciate you pointing out the "error" it contributes the the discussion. Your smart in being able to identify this.

      @@chrislee4625 Thanks for your video man. I really appreciate the effort you put in with sharing your knowledge for free. We understand being a content creator is hard but if you start to sacrifice your integrity by deliberately deceiving your wanted viewers with clickbait titles, I believe you are then starting down the wrong path my friend. Rather keep your integrity (and a smaller genuine following). A better title would possibly be "...Flash-like animation...." Just my opinion. Absolutely hope the best for you and your channel! Keep that content coming!

    Ah, I was looking for how to animate like Adobe Animate in Krita..... you know, like textured pivot animation?

      If you're looking for anything more than frame by frame animation you aren't going to get it in Krita, it just isn't capable. I'd suggest looking into Cavalry I've made a couple videos on it. It's inexpensive compared to Animate while sticking strictly to 2D spaces.

    Great vid, but it seems that frame-by-frame animation isn't what I want to do.
    Instead I want to move and transform objects from keyframe 1 to keyframe 2 and let the computer calculate the in-betweens like in Blender. I guess that Krita doesn't support that.

      Not wanting to animate frame by frame is a perfectly fine attitude towards Krita in this regard.
      With that being said I would consider Krita being a a jack of all trades but it is absolutely the master of none. In the grand totality of the software Krita can do so much for being free to install. But Krita does allow you to do what you want albeit rudimentary. In the 5.0 release of Krita you can perform a motion tween. What a tween does is take two values and fill in the space in between. 4.x.x versions of Krita only allowed you to tween using opacity, in the 5.0 release you can tween based on transform, scale, etc. in addition to opacity. Before giving Krita a pass entirely give the 5.0 release a go, I'll link you to a video I made detailing some of the most notable features.

      I would make use of the curves editor in the 5.0 release of Krita and keyframe out the opacity in such a way that the object flashes in and out like you mentioned.

    so the tweening option isnt popping up for me when i right click the frame how do i get it to show up everything else shows up but the tweening option

    • @chrislee4625
      @chrislee4625  2 роки тому

      There is no specific tweening option when working with a given frame you must tween it manually in the animation curves panel. If you aren't using Krita 5.0 yet you should as it provides a wealth of new features to the animation workspace as a whole so look out for a follow up to the video I did some time ago detailing features in the beta of Krita 5.0 I'll kinda go over in a basic sense the new capabilities in the curves docker that'll help out.
