Hi, just trying to build a livebait tank and found your video. Can you let me know more details of the 1 1/4” outlet as think you had a good idea but can not find one ? Does the weight of the tank full of water affect the boat handling ? Now you have had a chance to use it would you, if building again, do anything different ? Have you got any videos of you out on the water using it ? Many thanks for the video. Cheers Bob

What details did you need on the 1 1/4"?
The weight was OK but it is a small tank.
If there was a way or an option I would prefer to have a bottom feed and then over flow at the top.

  • @russ1185

im sure this works for most but its not the ideal set up. the water flowing out the exit drain is the water off the top of the surface which is fine in most cases. It means the water down the bottom is not cycling through to the top. all the water at the bottom of the barrel will lose the oxygen and as there is no flow from bottom to top it never gets replaced....but as i said in most cases this is fine. however some fish wont survive in these conditions. it is always ....always much better to have your inlet close to the bottom and your outlet closer to the top. this way fresh water is always cycling from the bottom to top and keep all levels oxygenated. you could say "just add air rater" well thats added expense and its not always the lack of oxygen that kills the fish. Some fish (Slimey mackerel ) stress and produce large amounts of pneumonia and that water needs to cycled out otherwise fish will die. hence why the water flowing from bottom to top is always better.

Top heavy will fall over with waves also no lid water all over the boat.

It never once fell over and it didn't spill either. If it did spill its not an issue as the automatic bilge would pump it out
There was never any issues with this live bait tank

If you're gonna hang multiple trebble hook lures...... Hang somewhere else. Any false movement and you'll be SINKING a trebble hook as deep as it can go.
I clamp all barbs regardless. But you have to hide trebble hook lures.....

Ye that's a fair point but each person will do it differently. This was just an idea / suggestion francus

Great film and advice but the design is flawed, the outlet pipe is too close to the inlet pipe & should come from the bottom and use a strainer and come up on the outside of the barrel then have a tap to stop siphoning out when electric pump stops
