The PS2 was the greatest console of all time. This was a great time with solid graphics and before DLC became prevalent! Games typically came FINISHED!
2k19 was very good. Not saying much but it's the best current roster game. It goes through Daniel Bryan's WWE career. And it has a deep roster, 186 wrestlers. Definitely worth it for wrestling fans.
I loved jamming the short entrance musics in them games while I slept. Kept playing different ones until I fell asleep. Falling Apart and The Broken always have a spot in my heart.

I have Smackdown Here Comes The Pain On My Ps2 And I absolutely love playing it because it's one of my favorite WWE video games I replay the season mode because it's so fun

Day of Reckoning 2 was God tier! I don't know how Def Jam Vendetta beat it. It's all opinions, I guess. I'd also argue that Tecmo World Wrestling was the best on the NES, as well.
Fire Pro Wrestling Returns is my favorite wrestling simulation game of all time, but HCTP was excellent as well. Lots of fun to play with friends and button mash each other to death
I'm surprised 2k19 didn't win the Xbox One/PS4 era. It didn't have the awesome Stone Cold retrospective, but it was more polished and had a bunch of little touches here and there that lent to the realism. Also, even though WWE Raw 2 for the original Xbox isn't the greatest game objectively, I did play it to death back in my college years lol. Loved that insane game.
being young and remembering the good old days if you were around me and playing Nintendo 64 you were either playing Wrestlemania 2000, No Mercy or Perfect Dark i spent hours and days creating characters and creating everything about them from their looks to their moves to a whole lot of detail truly wish I still had my original games
Sorry Jules, you're wrong about the Fire Pro Series. Up until World, these were console games. Most weren't officially released outside of Japan and had to be imported and in the PS2s or Dreamcast's case you had to mod your console. Add graphics, an for many people unknown roster and vastly different controls from all other wrestling games to the mix and you have a recipe for a series that has a hardcore but sadly small fanbase outside of Japan. World however is predominantly a PC game and due to available mods and the steam workshop blows the PS4 version out of the water.
This, all of this. Also, World basically lets you have as many wrestler/ref/ring/whatever edits as you have hard drive space to devote to it (and since Returns already had a massive 500 edits worth of space on a PS2 game, the possibilities are basically endless!).
If you can get the key to open the cartridge case you can buy new batteries for the saves... This will repair the issue 99% of the time... I have personally fixed those cartridges for friends many times over the years... I lucked out with my Day 1 copy... It was flawless.
Jules is maybe the only personality I know of on UA-cam, certainly on Whatculture, that could make the move to mainstream presenting in television etc. I can pay his skills no higher compliment, a joy to watch and listen to.

I know I’m in the minority, but I liked WCW v NWO more than No Mercy. Might be because I was a WCW guy back then, but I also couldn’t get into the controls for No Mercy.
seeing PS3 gameplay for the Wii's choice of SVR 2011 shows me that whoever picked this never actually played wrestling games on the Wii... Smackdown Vs Raw 2009 was an experience, great gameplay you could shake the controller do to moves, gameplay was fast and exciting like you would want from a nintendo game. The game also had interactive entrances that would give you momentum for your finishers during the actual match. They even had the whole breakout system after matches a full decade before 2k put it in, and the 2009 version was much better, you could hit finishers, hit opponents with chair, disrespectfully throw them out of the ring, raise their hand, pretend to raise their hand and then clothesline them. And even special character-specific ones like Mr. Kennedy would bring the mic down again and say "The Winner of this Match... Mr. Kennedy" And also a great Road to Wrestlemania mode
WWE 2K14 is an incredible game, but there is so much competition for the title of best wrestling game on both the Xbox 360, and PS3. SVR 2007, SVR 2011, WWE '12, and WWE '13 are all incredible games.
Pro Wrestling was infinitely better than steel cage challenge. -truly unique characters -signature moves for each wrestler -ability to do outside dives It really feels like the game was simply googled and not played before.
My only gripe is the fact that numbering the games makes it seem like you're saying that Battlegrounds for the Switch is the best overall Wrestling game, which is confusing to me.
Thank you for taking the time to make this list! Sucks that SEGA had some stinkers in the EU and NA but both the Saturn and Dreamcast had some amazing wrestling games... in Japan. The Giant Gram series is one that shouldn't be overlooked and the same can be said for Fire Pro Wrestling D.
The best Feature in WWE RAW 2 is that you can leave the Ring on your own and bring Weapons in the Game. I can´t understand why they bring this awesome Feature not back

The wwf smackdown games for the ps1 had incredible graphics for the time. I have never seen such good character models in other ps1 games

All Japan Pro Wrestling featuring Virtua was the best sega saturn wrestling game, followed by Fire Pro Wrestling 6 Man Scramble
