Similar to choosing a site to start a flight on the World Map as you detailed at 10:00 you can create a flight plan and then use the Travel To menu selection to choose at what point to start the flight. I like using this to begin at the top of descent to start setting up for an approach. You may also choose Travel To at any point in a current flight and choose to skip straight to the final approach on your flight plan by choosing the Final segment from the Travel To graphic. You receive a prompt to confirm your choice. The plane then skips to the final approach phase, assuming you have the required fuel needed.

@@SimHangerFS My apologies Mark. It's not the NAVLOG flight menu item you select mid-flight to move to a different segment of flight, it's the Travel To menu item. I tried it again this morning. It will also tell you whether you have enough fuel to fly to the segment you've chosen. So fuel load calculation is important.

ROLLING CACHE -installed on a ram drive 15gb - just need to save the image after closing down FS, found this to be fluid and cuts out the micro stuttering in certain world areas

I use my radio coms undocked on a second monitor. The only downside is that I need to click back on my FS window, or some inputs will be unresponsive.

Hey Mark, Great Video - short and sweet yet clear. Somehow, I have discovered you very late, and now I am going through most of your Vids. Very useful. About one tip here in this video: Undocking menus, I have tried this before as well.. but in my set up, undocking works as you suggest for all menu items, except for the Virtual Map, it just vanishes off the screen when you click the undock button. Is it just me or for everybody, I wonder.

Always helpful and informative! We always think we know a lot, until someone ( you ?) shows us something else? Great work..
If you pull out the VFR window to another screen, your FPS will go down by about 10 to 12 FPS or more, haven't verified it happens with the weather and other windows. Hopefully they have fixed that in this latest update, but I doubt it. In fact, by just having it open costs as well.

The Sim only uses cache when the Internet is off-line. If you have a reliable connection you can easily turn it off and gain a small amount of performance back since the Sim is not having to update it.
Thank you for your HQ content, as always. Not so sure about the manual cache, last time i tried, the slowdown of the UI was an ongoing issue for many users, if you added more cities to it (down to 3/4 fps). I am not aware if that has improved with the new updates...

The rolling cache doesn't affect performance at all. It just makes it possible to keep flying (in the same region) with greater quality to scenery if you need to go offline. I assume the size of the rolling cache would aither affect how large the cached region is, the quality of the cached terrain, or both. But that's just my assumption.

Use Addons Linker. A lot of time saving.
Addons linker was a game changer for me. I like to categorize my addonsfiles into not only countries , but also States etc. ,the best thing about addons linker is that it saves you from bogging down your com file with more addons than you need for your flight. I dont even use the newest version of it. I just use a version that does what i need.

Hi Mark, Great Video Thank you for the tips brilliant, however can you advise on my Key Board the right Alt Gr key has no effect when i try to unlock the pPFD /MFD from the VC Instrument panel, this key is to the right of my space bar any idea why following your instructions ie hold right Alt key and left click on the PFD/MFD panel and drag to screen is not working?

Hi, your graphics card will have a number of ports and depending on what card it is, it will support up to 4 monitors. Once plugged in they are configurable in your windows and your graphics software such as nvidia control panel. Regards

I have a good internet connection but I tried setting my rolling cache to 200 gb to try improving the scenery around London but it still looks awful in places. Waiting for a fix hopefully
I have a huge and fast SSD and loaded nothing but MSFS and set a monster cache and saw no differences in load times, fps, smoothness..... I know if I am in the mood for a quick flight I load DCS as MSFS is a loooooooooong load.
They still have a lot of bugs to work out in MSFS like screen freezes and crashing.! I have a great computer and have tried every fix on the internet but nothing works. And from all the site complaints and video “fixes” I can see I’m not alone.!!

I am not aware if the colour can be changed. Nothing in the menus.

If you go to your communities folder (or in some cases the OneStore folder), move down to (in my case , the TBM930)/Sim Objects/airplanes/TBM930/panel/panel config. Scroll to the bottom to find V Paintings 01 and V Paintings 02.....for external and internal text. Change the colours, and the changes work. Have used several common colours. This info is just very basic, and I'm sure that others will find more ways to make more changes. Cheers

About the world map and it's filtersettings: one way or another the settings are undone after restarting the sim.
Also counts for several inflight camera menu settings. Is this also happening at your sim?

Multi-monitor support for MSFS is not currently supported, planned for a future development, perhaps late 2021. Regards

@@MsTheCops the short answer James is no it is not supported, however there are a number of ''hacks'' out there that people have tried with varying degrees of success. It is not an inherently supported feature yet. Regards

Hey Mark, still loving your videos, thanks for sharing them. I'm sorry to disturb you but I've got a technical question: I guess you have multiple SIMS running on your PC. Are there any conflicts that you're aware of between P3Dv4.5 & MSFS. I'm currently wiping my PC to have an M2 System disc (Win10 Pro) installed and a third 1TB SSD (can never have enough storage). I have been running P3D on its' own SSD for more than two years and will do this again with a clean install this weekend. I then plan to dedicate another SSD to MSFS. I've not really got into the new SIM since buying the Premium-Delux back in Sept. However, flying low and slow, it's a game changer but to move across to MSFS will require PMDG, Aerosoft & QW 878 to be ported and that looks like 2022 so I'll be flying tube liners in P3D for the foreseeable future.
Last weekend after updating all three world scenery packs for MSFS, it might just be a coincidence but P3D started to show a really nasty issue: Aerosoft Airbus's wouldn't run above 1x sime rate and PMDG not above 2x sim rate. Worked perfectly for more than two years so maybe a Windows update or Graphics Card update has caused issues or MSFS being gon the same 1Tb SSD, leaving less than 150Gb free, who knows but I wondered if anyone knew of potential conflicts.
Reasonable spec PC = Intel i9, 32Gb RAM, 2080TI (RTX) and soon to have a 1TB M2 and 3 x 1TB SSD's. Any thoughts would be gratefully appreciated. Regards

Hi Graeme, I have P3Dv5.1 plus MSFS , Xplane 11.5 and DCS installed on one PC, but each on a separate SSD. No problems my end that I am aware of. They should not cross over on each other, the only area that could possibly be an issue would be simconnect, but MSFS and P3D use different version so that is unlikely.
@@SimHangerFS Mark, thanks so much. I did think you have several versions on the one PC and would know. I'm going to put it all down to a PC that badly needs wiped and rebuilt. This was a Win7 box that I upgraded to Win10 Pro so I think there might be a lot of legacy Win7 garbage on there so a nice fresh clean out . I should have done this two years ago when I migrated from FSX to P3Dv4.1; totally my fault. How's P3Dv5? Does PMDG, AS330AS320 and QW 787 work ok? How's scenery from P3Dv4+ performing?
@@LivnTheDream I previously had an upgraded win7/10 PC and I eventually called it a day and installed Win 10 from scratch. P3Dv5 works fine, except VR performance is poorer than v4 for some reason. PMDG works flawlessly, but again I would say no performance improvement noticed. I don't own the QW787 so can't comment on that. P3Dv5 overall performs reasonably well and the lighting etc is much improved, but I don't like the colours as much, especially Autumn, makes it look almost cartoony! Stay safe my friend.

I noted your earlier advice about removing unused aircraft/scenery/etc in order to speed-up MSFS load times. At this stage, and with all the added aircraft/scenery etc added with subsequent Sim Updates, I don't believe that now works....at least not for me. After Update 5, many new additions were added to my 'One Store' folder (or in many cases, the Community folder). Last night, I 'cut' several new aircraft which I'll never use, and placed them separately outside my 'One Store' folder....13.2 GB in all. On booting up MSFS, the simulator automatically reinstalled all those files which I had removed.
Did I do something wrong, or are we now not allowed to delete files?

The default files need to stay in place I believe, or they will be reinstalled. Manually deleting these files may cause CTD. If you want to remove these files you need to uninstall them via the content manager in sim via your profiles menu.
I would be glad if I could just start my sim, since the UK update I haven't been able to run it as it just freezes' at the end of the progress bar.

Hey Marc. I know this is an older video, but I have a question about Pro Tip #9. You mention typing in 'fauna' in the search bar to locate POI's that have those types of items. However, when I do that, it seems to just be looking at airport names, and even at that it says it only shows 100 items. I've done a fair amount of research, but I can't find anything that talks about customization or limitations on the World search bar. I'm totally up to date, along with World Update VIII; just can't seem to search for anything other than airports. Any ideas?

Yes, I'm on a PC, and apparently the search for the word 'fauna' does not yield and results, However, if I search for something like 'elephants' or 'giraffes' it works fine. Not sure why your example showed 'fauna' working, maybe something changed in later updates. As I mentioned your video was aver a year ago and I'm on World Update VIII. any word on when Microsoft will change the the graphics engine to take advantage of multi processor -- DX12 ? I really need this until Intel or AMD comes out with their next generation of CPUs. I only have what's called a 6800K Intel CPU, it has 6 cores and 12 threads, I realize no one has heard of that Intel processor because it was made so long ago, but I need to know when they will update this product. thanks so much and as always , KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK Mr . Hello, DX12 is in the works, but not expected until after June this year, I would anticipate something around Aug/Sept. The new AMD CPU’s are out and looking amazing, Intel 11th gen are due soon. Regards

Hi Mark, Tried that and changed from English (United Kingdom) made no difference so then added English (United States also no difference not sure what to do now. I am in TBM 930 IS THAT THE ISSUE>?
I haven’t tried with the TBM. Shouldn’t make any difference though, try with another aircraft. I’m at a loss. Sorry.
GPU usage is supposed to be at 100% all the time while in game. That's how you know you're getting the best performance your system can push at those settings.
Whilst it is supposed to be at 100%, I agree, it rarely is....there will always be variance ....of up to 20% at times. This is visible in the task manager for example, under the performance stats.
When I am downloading updates, the program keeps zeroing and does not finish the download. How can this be fixed. I tried many things, but nothing seems to help. Do you have any advice.

I don't know if you were affected by the reset bug after the last world update,many of us were including me,happily after a few days of having to redo all of our settings after starting the sim, bug has been fixed.I have been tweaking my settings in Nvidia and the sim but am unable to shake off one annoyance.Flying direct from EGLF to EGKK,about ten miles into the flight there is a pause of about four seconds.The gpu and cpu readings are ok,but after the pause there is a temporary drop in frame rate which gradually returns to normal.I wonder if this is a bandwidth related problem as the best bandwidth for me is sixty five Mb p/s.Maybe you could check it out and see if it affects you..................................
Will do, I am assuming this is London main loading at that point into memory causing the pause and slow down whilst it prerenders etc. Regards

Time acceleration is really causing me issues. All you have is + and - accel, no normal and worse no indication on screen what accel if any is set. Many times I have hit the switch on my TM Hog I have it linked to and either forgot was it 2 or 4 etc or the sim sets 2 or 4 to 8 or even slower. You would think you could tell if you were accelerated or even 1/2 speed but depending on altitude/speed, it can be impossible.
Agreed, I also find it amazing there is no way to tell the sim speed. Very difficult to know what is x1. No solution from Asobo yet.

In the assistance menu make sure all pilot assists are turned off.

@@AR340 check the calibration of your rudder/controller in windows. Then check the movement of the axis in sensitivities in control options. You may need a bigger deadzone and increased sensitivity.

Hi Stephen, there are a few reports of CTD but few and far between on the Xbox. Nothing at the scale being experienced on PC.
