This is an excellent introduction video for anyone who has little or no knowledge about FS2020. Watch it. You'll enjoy it. But if you're a flight simmer with much experience with FSX, despite FS2020's vast improvement (over FSX) in the way scenery is displayed, there are going to be things that you as an experienced pilot will be much disappointed in and even irritated with. (1) "You might find the game [to be] a bit daunting." An understatement if ever there was one. While FS2020 offers flying lessons, just like with FSX, FS2020 offers NO help in setting up the game. You've gotta figure that out (of which there are well over a hundred things that must be set up to make even one airplane flyable) for yourself from UA-cam tutorials (such as this one) created by people who bought the product before you did. Having prior knowledge of FSX may even complicate things for you as there are more and different things that have to be set up, too. While some airplanes are complete in their functionality and operate realistically (such as the Cessna 172 G1000), many are not. Press a button in these airplanes and you're likely to see the words "not implemented". I have every expectation that one day FS2020 will be an excellent flight simulator, but--at the moment--I see it as being only a 'game' in which to do some quite enjoyable 'virtual tourism'. (2) As for 'virtual tourism' ..... While the WAY scenery is presented in FS2020 is a million times better than in FSX, scenery of built up (3-D enhanced) areas is NO MORE REAL than that of FSX. A correction I'll make is this: "If you get the urge to fly over to where your house should be", YOU WON'T FIND IT. Oh, you'll find a house on your property, but the house will definitely NOT look like your house. That's because the vast majority of buildings and houses (of which there are thousands of different very beautifully-created examples) are auto-generated scenery. For major cities like San Francisco and New York City for example, FS2020 does create the prominent real landmarks like the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State building, but while less-prominent buildings will certainly appear to be real, close inspection will reveal they are only approximations. One prominent thing they missed in NYC is the Verrazano Narrows bridge, which is a suspension bridge just like the Golden Gate. In FS2020, the bridge is shown merely as an ordinary concrete span bridge. New Yorkers are going to be disappointed--if not insulted. (3) A most horrible presentation of natural scenery. While natural scenery such as mountains, the Grand Canyon, and the buttes of Monument Valley appear very realistic, water surface areas such as oceans and large lakes are shown as glass-smooth mirrors just like ponds. Not a ripple to be found! Consequently, cloud reflections on the water are as sharp and clear as the real clouds above. Sun reflections are blinding. This is very annoying as it is immediately recognizable as being nothing like real life. FS2020 should NEVER have been released with this major scenery flaw. While storms and cloud layers in which to fly or fly above are okay, it's best to do your sightseeing in ONLY totally cloudless skies. Conclusion: If you have no previous experience with a flight sim, you're absolutely going to love FS2020--until you've flown it enough to be annoyed with the things I've mentioned. Over time (a LONG time I have to project) I think FS2020 will be a better FLIGHT SIMULATOR than FSX, but until then--while I'm more interested in expanding my skills as a pilot than only doing some nice sightseeing--I'm going to continue to spend most of my time on FSX. Another thing that gravely concerns me is the amount of time it's going to take Osobo Studios to correct the bugs in FS2020. As a developer of many computer games and with what I suspect is a limited number of developers and support personnel, I think bug fixing in ALL their games is going to be much prolonged.
If you see this and you're wondering whether to give this game a shot, do it. I never played any flight sims before this so i was in the same boat, but trust me, as soon as you see the sunset over the pyramids in egypt in real time, you'll understand why this game is a must-play.
People say the Avatar doesn’t matter. So much in fact that there isn’t a single dedicated video on UA-cam showing the options. I feel like this is the most glaring shortcoming in flight sim games. Speaking for myself I want immersion. I want it to be me in that plane. Or better yet me and however many friends I want to make and put in the plane to fill available seats. This is how you make an immersive experience. Will you please do a dedicated video on options for Avatars
I'm happy this is getting so much exposure... difficult to find the sim pilots with all these gamer channels hopping on the hype though. So many top 10s and unboxings lol. Pilot here clearly has gta experience.
You can find the coordinates for your house or a certain location you want to fly over and put those coordinates in the search bar that's under the departure and arrival selection boxes so you don't have to fly around and try to find whatever it is manually.
Just an added tip on finding your house or any other location. You can input GCS coordinates in the search bar. So if you know the latitude and longitude of where you are going (like your house), the game will make a custom marker that you can use just like a point of interest. If you are looking for GCS codes then Google Maps is great for it because you can point or find any place on the globe and easily get the coordinates that you are looking for.
Good tip for finding stuff. I don’t know how you wouldn’t know where your own house was though. You just need to follow the roads, rivers etc you normally travel on.
@@mr8I7 VFR for sure works. When I first started flying around I did just that and found my house pretty quickly. Where I find the GCS coordinates helpful is finding landmarks that don't have a POI marker. The other night I spent an evening flying around European castles. I have never been to that part of the world and most of those don't have POI markers in the game. So I found the GCS method very helpful.
In MSF2020, how do I? : 1) Go into active pause? 2) Slew or change the simulation rate, making long trips short? 3) Change flaps or some settings? For example, in small planes, then I move the mouse over the flaps, click, I can change the flap setting. For some reason, this doesn't work in the heavy jets like the B747, A320neo, B787, etc. 4) Can you build flight routes in the FMS (and have it appear on the MFD) for the heavy jets? Can you type waypoints in the MCDUs? 5) How do you change nav frequencies for heavy planes?
To find you house, convert the post code / zip code to a GPS longitude and latitude then search for it like you would a landmark on the flight planner screen...thank me later! :-)
What can you tell us about the type of computer equipment to use for the best results with Microsoft Flight Simulator. I see much about how great the program is but it seems impossible for a new comer to figure out what it takes to run the program smoothly and with the best performance. We know the program is great but what will we need to make it run the best?
It's funny, I didn't do anything he recommended my first time playing this. I just winged it, no pun intended. It took me a while of messing with the controller and a little bit of frustration to figure out which button did what. After I got the gist of taking off, I crashed like four or five times in a row trying to control and stabilize the plane in the air. I also went straight for one of the big airliners too.

They are locked and can't click on them well i can but they will just flicker and turn back on automatically... IDK WHY PLS HELP!!!
Flying a virtual plane to see a satellite image of the top of my apartment that I am literally sitting in watching this video. I believe we've reached a new low as a species.
That is exactly what I thought until I tried one. 1) It is a great method to familiarise yourself with flight procedures if you are an anxious flyer 2) Most of us will never see the plane cockpit - here you can see those in detail 3) Some opinions pointed out that pilots like this sort of programs, as it allows them to try the limits of planes they will never reach in real life 4) Remember that every big commercial airline pilot initially trains the flight in ....simulator. 5) It caught the interest of my very young daughter - she enjoyed "flying" solo from start to (crash)landing. Perhaps one day she will become a pilot? 6) Paid extras to the game - recently one was designed to fund the rebuilding of the Antonov plane (the biggest ever one), so like-minded people can unite in a shared goal It does open some possibilities and in my opinion, is a much better way of spending time than playing Doom. Give it a try.
@@ItsEphora obviously, but it's typically easier to approach a bit further away then the exact area where your house is. But Tom is right in that you don't need to fly out of an airport
For those that want better instruction on how to fly a plane, I recommend a discovery flight with a flight instructor at your nearest airport. In many places in the US you can enjoy one for $75 to $100. It'll likely be the best $100 you've spent in your life. Maybe one day you'll take up lessons and join the great flying community. I took my first lessons when I was 13 years old and haven't looked back since.
The worst part of being a new player is setting up your controller. I have a Saitek joystick and it had zero controls mapped to it. Going to each menu and trying to assign each axis is a daunting task, especially given the amount of options they provide. And I flew the Volocity copter straight to my condo and was surprised how accurate the neighborhood was detailed and the surrounding businesses. The strip malls and grocery is exactly where it should be, there's an Arby's a block away and it was right there. I was stunned. I also learned some things. The roads I thought were north-south are not really north south. They're skewed and actually curve. Impossible to see from the ground
@@bobabooey4537 And THIS is how you spend your time? Nitpicking worthless quotes and actually taking the time to print them on UA-cam? Wow. You are the definition of hopeless despair. I wish you luck. You will need all you can get

It's a completely new flight simulation platform and whenever you have something that new, most people are going to have issues, that's why I wasn't in a hurry to get the initial release version of FS 2020, although it has gone through the so-called "Alpha" and "Beta" phases there will always be numerous items that were missed. I'll wait a little longer.
Yes, you better do. I am completely new to FS2020, but the 9 hours of flying the Cessna 152 were really fun. However, a more experienced friend was basically enraged after he flew the A320neo. The airliners apparently fly horribly, the autopilot is useless and you can't use the whole cockpit as many switches and buttons are just marked *inoperable*.
Just as a side note. Since it's connected to servers online, it checks for updates every time you load the game. I would hope this means any fixes for bugs/glitches in the software are being applied as needed.
I enjoy how both the game and this video talk about how active pause is a great feature, but neither the game or this video talks about how it can be activated...
Tell me, is there some easy way to determine if my computer has enough to run the software? I am NOT tech savvy enough to know my specs off the top of my head... thnx in advance...
I have a problem, when I bind my controls to w,a,s,d. it doesn't snap the yoke back when I stop imputing, so I have to manually turn it back before my plane absolutely dies, is there any way to get it to auto snap back?
I would love to see this updated for the latest version of MSFS 2020, the Game of the Year version. The tutorials have changed since this video came out, and as a newbie, they don't seem very comprehensive. Lesson 7 on setting trim is especially frustrating, even after watching numerous videos on YT to better understand trim, I cannot seem to get the controls right in the tutorial. What I can't figure out is why the tutorials begin *in the air* -- wouldn't you logically start training on the ground? There's very little to no explanation of the parts of the plane (aileron? elevator? altimeter?), what they do, etc. So for new pilots, it's not very clear how to begin, and when something doesn't go right, there's no explanation as to what went wrong and how to fix it.
The altimeter is the instrument that shows you how high you are in relation to a set refference( there is also a radioaltimeter on some aircraft, that shows you how high you are related to the actual terrain under you. The ailerons are the control surfaces on the outer part of the wing that deflect the air flowing around the wing, to make the aircraft roll. They are moved by turning the yoke left or right( like a car's steering wheel), or moving the flight stick left or right. The elevators are the control surfaces on the horizontal part of the tail that help move the aircraft's nose up or down. They are controled by moving the yoke/flight stick forward or back. Now moving on to trim. You might notice when flying that you have to constantly imput controls to make the aircraft fly straight. For beginner flight sim level stuff, ypu should just use the trim commands to make the aircraft fly straight. When you are all set up for cruise(flaps up, cruise power, at or near the desired cruise speed), go into the cockpit and choose a reference point( a distand mountain top, an isolated house etc), then use the trim commands instead of the primary flight controls to make the aircraft fly straight towards that point without any further input. Now, in a sim it's quite a bit harder to do this than irl, where you can feel the forces you are applying on the stick, but if you take it slow, and don't overdo it( go a tiny bit, see how the plane reacts, then repeat), you can enjoy the joy of flying straight and level.
I thought this was a flight simulator, but now after hearing GAME 48,000 times in one video, I now call it a game, I call people and tell them this is a game, they tell me I'm nuts, I keep saying; game, and after a while they start agreeing, some call me later and tell me its a game.

Hello, how do I change the location of my aircraft from automatically in the runway right away? I want to park first at the general aviation parking to do the proper ATC communication please?
When do they plan on fixing the 747 cockpit so its more than just looks? and what about the eyepoint adjustments for adults, as in most the craft the best you can see is the top of the dash and that's why most pf the demos llke the ones here are external and not a pilots 1st person view - try landing the twin engine lear like jet. The Airbus - btw - good job !
Is there any way to make the in cockpit view brighter on the instruments without making the entire screen brighter? I can't ever see the instruments properly unless I am flying at night with all the lights turned on. During the day, the instruments are too dark.
There are some switches on the Cockpit that control the instruments's brightness e.t.c but you'll have to look around because they different from plane to plane

The sunset over the pyramids lol.

To find your house is easy: get the coordinates of your house from Google maps, then enter it into the world map and you can spawn at your house
After viewing footage of your flying, Spirit Airlines would love to offer you a job!

I just flew to my home city and found it like a boss
In MSF2020, how do I? :
1) Go into active pause?
2) Slew or change the simulation rate, making long trips short?
3) Change flaps or some settings? For example, in small planes, then I move the mouse over the flaps, click, I can change the flap setting. For some reason, this doesn't work in the heavy jets like the B747, A320neo, B787, etc.
4) Can you build flight routes in the FMS (and have it appear on the MFD) for the heavy jets? Can you type waypoints in the MCDUs?
5) How do you change nav frequencies for heavy planes?
you can easily google all those questions. or do i really need to spoonfeed you like your mama does?
Don't use active pause with the auto pilot engaged - the aircraft becomes unstable when exiting the active pause
Number 3. You do realise you can turn the plane around...and fly past the landmark you just spawned at?
Hahaha fucking el I was thinking that too
I was wondering if you couldn't turn the plane around or something lol
Personally I’m interested in playing through *’Snowrunner’* before playing this (I want my CDL before I get my pilot license) 🤣👀
That take-off vertical though.
I agree. It looked like a video game take off.
@@bobabooey4537because it is a video game
It's funny, I didn't do anything he recommended my first time playing this. I just winged it, no pun intended. It took me a while of messing with the controller and a little bit of frustration to figure out which button did what. After I got the gist of taking off, I crashed like four or five times in a row trying to control and stabilize the plane in the air. I also went straight for one of the big airliners too.
thanks, those tips are really helping me
#FS2020 has some amazing tech behind it, 2Petabytes of real terrain data on whole planet. Live Weather. Live air traffic. Live players..
I hope MSFS start to have study level AC like XP12. IT seems MSFS is good for graphics and XP12 is good for actual training. I have both.
Hey i need help so bad. My buttons in fs2020 don't work. I load the 787-pmdg737-a32nx and 747 but all of them wont let me click on the landing lights, strobe lights, taxi lights, runway lights and beacon lights. They are locked and can't click on them well i can but they will just flicker and turn back on automatically... IDK WHY PLS HELP!!!
Flying a virtual plane to see a satellite image of the top of my apartment that I am literally sitting in watching this video. I believe we've reached a new low as a species.
I think you've misspelt peak.
What's the alternative, tho?
Give it a try.
heres a tip you missed: If you take off, you eventually have to land.
No you dont have to fly from a near airport to find your house, you can click on the area of where the hows is and then spawn near it.
Then you fly right past it
Digitalsoju TV then spawn right before it
@@digitalsoju planes can turn
@@ItsEphora obviously, but it's typically easier to approach a bit further away then the exact area where your house is. But Tom is right in that you don't need to fly out of an airport
Wow, rough gameplay, I thought I was bad with an XB controller 😳 Seen more finesse in Pilot Wings 😁
What they don't tell you is that flying in easy mode is the best way to kill the game.
I agree- hopefully it will somewhat counteract the arcade version of flying shown here.
Hey active pause is great!
Ok, but how do you activate it?
Did you use the word 'daunting' because you picked up on it twice within the video? Never mind... you did.
@@bobabooey4537 And THIS is how you spend your time? Nitpicking worthless quotes and actually taking the time to print them on UA-cam? Wow. You are the definition of hopeless despair. I wish you luck. You will need all you can get
How do you active pause?? I’ve tried everything
It's the "Pause Break" key on your keyboard. Some smaller keyboards may not have it, look in the top right of your keyboard
if you go to controls, click keyboard, then search for "active pause." Click the key thats assigned to it already, and change it to the space bar. Much easier that way
Yeah that would've been pretty cool if they actually told you how to do it in this video. Thank goodness for comments sections.
Ok so the active pause button doesn’t come pre mapped on your keyboard you have to go in and set the key bind
The gameplay footage and flight is seriously stressing me out lol.

Get it with Gamepass on PC for 1€
Just as a side note. Since it's connected to servers online, it checks for updates every time you load the game. I would hope this means any fixes for bugs/glitches in the software are being applied as needed.

How do you skip training instructions if you've made a mistake and are forced to restart? I am being forced to redo from the beginning every time!
