My absolute favorite moment in all of Taskmaster (so far). I got lightheaded because I couldn't get enough air from laughing too hard.
I love how Roisin gets the brief, agrees to put aside time in her calendar to walk in the countryside with David Mitchell and Alan Davies on a given day, then chooses to wear flip-flops on that day. 😆
She looks uncomfortable walking in those flip flops! Want to give her some comfy trainers!
And David wearing dress shoes... only person there that know what a forest is like it seems is Alan lol.
Absolutely scans for her, less sense than god gave a cat. I love how clever she is about her own awkwardness and the human condition, but everything else is 💯 malfunctioning alien.
MANY people manage - and prefer - to walk on the ground without ANY form of footwear.

Kidding aside, this could actually work as a format. An American comedian (Kevin Nealon) has a chat show where he takes celebrities on hikes in the mountains and interviews them. David taking a lovely stroll with a guest and having a nice conversation with them? I would absolutely watch that.
Ed Byrne did that for a bit during lockdown

It was a hot day at the Brightside Dementia Care Home. Tracey wedged open the side door to let in some air. Returning from the kitchen with the afternoon tea round, she immediately realised Roisin, David and Alan had made their escape. It had only been a few minutes. They couldn't have gone far.

An aside... The more I watched Alan walk the more I realised he unconsciously strolls on the diagonal.
My English m-in-law, Sheila, did that to me so often, walking along the beach in winter ( here in oz ) chatting, me gradually being channelled into the shallows. Drove me nuts. I'd stop, go behind her to change sides and off we'd go her angling me into the plodding thick soft sand.
My husband does it too, walking thru the wetlands in the hills, following the path, next thing I'm dealing with shrubs n reeds while he yaks on. I call hey you're doing a Sheila, he backs off, but doesn't take long to resume the diagonal.
. Bloody dangerous in the city though, buffing parked cars. It's inevitable I'll shove him under a bus one day. Revenge against Sheila
You should walk on a road-like trail that they walk horses on. Having to dodge piles of horse manure would add to the rustic charm.
This trio is such a delight, I'd watch them walk anywhere.

Lack of spatial awareness.
Alan looks prepared to go for a walk with his sensible outdoor gear. David is too nicely dressed and will get grass stains on that shirt. Róisín is asking for disaster wearing flip-flops.
One of the first things I noticed. Alan was the only one with footwear that fit the occasion. Flip-flops girl was lucky they got all the sticks off the path.

The footwear shots are key. Perhaps a 'guess the celebrity' format, starting with shoes, then shoes and knees, etc.
We call the flaps on a hat "bullshit flaps". They're worn by winter hunters and when one starts boasting, everyone else just puts the flaps down.
Sandals on a muddy track ... while the gents walk on the grassy bits :)

Great format
The nature walk seems to have had an influence on the natural flow of relaxed and spontaneous conversation these guys were having. Almost felt like I could have been strolling along with them, so, I enjoyed the walk thanks.
As soon as they talked about moving your arms while walking, I could not look at anything else. It is probably going to consume the next few days of my life checking I have it right.
I think about it constantly when I walk as well.

Hiking boots seem like kind of overkill for that walk though. They're on an extraordinary wide extremely flat path that barely even looks like it has stones in it. And they're walking very very slowly.

This could definitely be a format! I thought it was. Longer though. And perhaps with a stop for tea or something round the middle. Like, just a sitdown at a park café maybe, or the producers arranged a little picknick table with a small meal and a glass of wine or something in a glade before carrying on till you’re back in/near civilisation. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I'll just say, the pacing of this bit was spot on. No one seemed especially winded. Or maybe just winded enough. Good to see Mitchell dust off his nice hiking oxfords.

There are a lot more deer around here now than there used to be... saw a roe deer on Charlie Browns Roundabout in Woodford other month and lots of muntjak deer around Chigwell.

If you do not know what to do with your hands, just put them in your pocket. You will feel more relaxed as you walk and look that way as well. Also why so dressed up for a walk. How about a cozy cardigan. Also needs more cutaways to the woods they are walking in. We want to feel we are on the walk as well so give us shots of where you are heading or cutaway to some birds or something.

Watching this, I thought;
- what if David Mitchell, in the coming two years, gained 40 pounds worth of muscles?
Are non-driving adults now common in the UK? Just heard of three in that 10 minute segment. That aside, on the fence about this format. I feel it is okay but could be really good if just sitting in the woods or having a cup of tea and chat around a camp stove. It might seem more natural than walking at an exaggeratedly slow pace behind a camera crew, as it seems to be, understandably, distracting them.
I think it’s common in well-connected places like London, for the most part our bus and rail services are good enough that you don’t absolutely require a car for going to school or work. Plus things like driving lessons, a license and an actual car aren’t exactly cheap. I imagine the further north you go the more you’d probably need a car though, or if you want to visit the countryside.
I like the format, but it would probably be better with just one guest
