- In my recent video, I explored the Tisas DUTY 9 DS, a double-stack 9mm 1911 that caught the attention of many viewers after my Springfield Prodigy review.
Although priced at around $750, it offers many features on paper, including ambidextrous safety, grip safety, a skeleton trigger, and more.
From a design standpoint, it's like a mixtape of classic and modern vibes. The top half screams classic 1911, while the bottom brings the party with modern-looking grips and hammer.
Holding it, you feel the mix of classic and contemporary worlds.
But at this price point, it's no surprise there are compromises.
The ergonomics are decent but not mind-blowing.
The trigger is smooth with a defined break but not exceptional.
However, if you're on a tight budget and craving a double-stack 1911 experience, this might be your ticket.
Just don't compare it to higher-end models, and you'll appreciate what it offers.

I am not on any other social media platform and was trying to find a way to tell you, Mr. Noir, about an incredibly heroic 85 year old woman from southeast ID, Christine Jenneiahn. She survived a home invasion/robbery including getting hit over the head, handcuffed to a chair, and shot three times herself, but was still able to shoot and kill the robber, 39 year old Derek Condon, who threatened to kill her. Christine lives with and takes care of her adult disabled son. Her will to live and survive is incredible! This story deserves national news!

@@truthseeker1581 I love my .45 raider and my 10mm D10 both made by tisas the raider has 150 rounds through her and have had no issues. The D10 has around 100 and no issues ether.

I have 2 tisas carry models and i love them. one in stainless and 1 black. I also have other turkey pews. My canik is definitely one of my favorites. A lot of these turkey pews are low price but i feel like for what you get and the surprising quality you get for that price they are very good deals. Tisas and Canik seems sorta like underdogs to me. They are getting more popular lately it seems.

Excellent, comprehensive presentation. Hadn’t really paid much attention to the Tisas but “$750” and “2011” got my attention.
I have a Tisas 1911 Night Stalker and it is a very high quality pistol. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Tisas. They are torching the "quality 1911's have to be expensive" logic.
You can actually Interchange your slides if you get this one. That would look cool especially if it’s threaded

@@matthewbeaver5026There was/is a recall on some Tisas models because of a possible safety issue. I sent my Raider in and had it back within 1.5 weeks. No fee for shipping or anything.
@@matthewbeaver5026 they did I own one of the raider models and I'm 150 rounds through and have not had an issue I talked with a local gunsmith and it's just a sear spring issue (if it happens at all) I appreciate them being proactive though. He said he could replace the spring for like 15 bucks so not worth sending it in.

I literally just bought the same gun last Thursday. All the reviews are positive thus far, including yours. I have always wanted a Staccato, but that's a lot of money if you aren't familiar with the platform, which I am not. For me it is $750 to see if I really do want the Staccato XL or if I should look elsewhere. Either way, my son will inherit my collection when I go, so more for him to enjoy ;)

@@thefrogking481staccatos are nice but over rated IMO. Don't get me wrong, if you buy a staccato you will be happy with it, but Bul Armory makes 2011s that are just as nice for a lot less. An SAS II Tac 5" for $1,850 comps directly to the $2,500 P and for $2,250 you can get a Tac Pro with a ported barrel which comps directly to the XC which is a $4,300 gun. The XC is slightly nicer, but certainly not $2k nicer, and the Tac Pro is definitely the flatter shooting gun compared to the P at the same price if not slightly cheaper.

Tisas guns are very underrated, I have a couple 1911s and they are great shooters and very reliable
Apples to apples, the Prodigy vs the MAC 9 DS. Same features for a lower price and no MIM parts. Let's go. I have it and love it
I own both and will honestly say that they both shoot well, but if I could only buy one it would be the MAC 9. IJS

I own two Tisas 1911. Both are excellent pistols.
Have a tisas .45 duty, never ever has failed. And shoots great.

I spent a little more and went with the MAC 1911-9 DS, basically the same pistol except with a bull barren and a mag-well. I get it isn't a Staccato but Ive had non of the problems I continue to hear about with the Prodigy. It introduces me to the 2011 without forking out $2500+.
It’s a nice entry level 1911 ds, shot close to 700 rounds, no failures yet, have a 507k co witness green dot on it, and Tlr 7 X usb light on it (carry version). Definitely worth the money don’t be fooled by the name

I have a Tisas US ARMY A1 1911 in .45. I really, really like it a lot. Not a fan of the WW2 era fixed iron sights but other then than it’s really, really nice. Especially for the price tag of $510.
Look how Turkey is actually expanding their arms industry not only for their own needs but for export .
I'd be concerned about their metallurgy.

Tisas, EAA, Girsan, SAR...they all make good stuff. My personal favorite of the year so far for under $1000 is the LFA Apollo 11, but this Tisas is no slouch. As a shop owner, they are tough to sell because lack of brand name awareness and "they are from Turkey!" but if you know, then you know.
That’s what no OSHA or safety gets you. Stuff we couldn’t touch in price. I have a Tisas and it’s a good gun. Great gun for the $ but it’s still not as good as a Springfield or Colt 1911.

I bought this and 500rds so far with 0 issue. Heard some people crying about low point of impact but I haven’t encountered that but I also know the difference between trigger finger and too much.

I have a Tisa 2011 Stingray Bobtail compact carry and it is awesome .
Being honest, I have an STI 1911 in 45, and other 1911 in 45, but also have a Tisas 1911 in 9mm single stack. Anytime I reach for a 1911 that I enjoy shooting its the Tisas, and not just since its 9mm vs 45. The Tisas has a rail and I put a light on it. The features are nice, the fitment is really good, finish is nice. Its just an enjoyable 1911 for me. Its accurate and easy to shoot and easy on the eyes. And the cost was around $400

Tisas makes some excellent price point weapons. The only ammo I have ever had issue with was 1776 brand composite bullet. Five of fifty broke off in the chamber of my .45. I had to hand load them one at a time to be sure they wouldn't jam. I'm glad I only bought a box of fifty.
Glad u finally gotten into Tisas brand firearms… I have 2 Px-9 gen 1 and gen 3 Duty and I love them!!! Especially my gen 3 with the FDE color way
px9 is heavily slept on. great pistols and use p226 mags is a plus

I have one, put a 19# main spring, atlas trigger, EGW sear spring, light and RMSC. Absolutely love it. Came factory with about 6.5-7# trigger pull. Got it down to 4-4.5# with those cheap upgrades.

I have the Tisas 2011 night stalker, and it’s amazing. Basically the Gucci version of tnis gun. It shoots amazing and it’s so comfortable. Definitely worth it

I own a Tisas 1911 and they are extremely hard to beat for the money. Better than guns twice the price. I had it optic cut and run it as is. TAC Driver!

Tisas is like PSAs of the AR world. Value and affordable without sacrificing reliability and functionality. Are there better and smother? Sure. But companies like Tisas and PSA deserve a HUGE shoutout for allowing people to protect themselves or enjoy the range and not break the bank. This day and age there is a lot to be said about that. Times are tough for many. Springfield also donates to the ones trying to disarm you. I cant stand when people even mention the Prodigy. They don’t deserve our business. Stop giving it to them. Daniel Defense, S&W and even Ruger are on that boycott list too… people tend to forget that though. Vote with your wallets when you can.

Great video enjoyed the insight. Only thing I can actually say in relation to this is that, when I went to the gun store about 3 weeks ago to talk with them, and get suggestions on a first gun. One of the guns they showed me was a Tisas 1911. 450 bucks. Obviously I'm new and never shot a 1911, but the gun itself felt solid in the hand. Didn't really know what double stack 1911's were until after that now Im kind of curious to hold a couple just to see how they feel. But a normal 1911 for me would be more than sufficient. But I can imagine this one doing well for a lot of folks.

The Turkish guns are pretty good- I've got my Canik Rival coming next week. My TP9SA has 1450 rounds through without a malfunction. The latest Caniks have triggers so good, the entire gun is only slightly more than what you'd spend to get a trigger that good on something else.

I rented a Staccato at my local range and regretted it cause now I've never wanted a pistol so badly it was a awesome experience.
B9R Duty going to put a W/C full guide rod in it and S/F 300 light on it and a Cat Pro Dot got the firearm on a one day sale for 629. So into a complete 2011 that runs just for under a 1000
If you think that budget is a great double stacked 1911, you should try the MAC 2011 made by tisas. I was never a 2011 guy, but this option got me into buying one for just under a 1,000 dollar price point. The MAC 2011 is a great budget option for people to have a dependable 2011 under the heavy price point. Hope you have a chance to possibly look at the gun. Keep up the great content!!!

I just picked up their polymer gun, the px9. Looks good, shoots great, has a threaded barrel, decent sights... $300. My only complaint is the grip. It's slick like there isn't enough texture on the grip. Other than that love it.

Haven’t shot it, but I handled both recently at a gun store and I will say I preferred the The slide release on this handgun because it was actually something I could use for the other one was too stiff and too far forward actually use my thumb.

The Mac 9 ds 1911 is another option and is around 1k. Has some upgrades compared to the normal tisas 1911 ds.

That's honestly a great looking and great running gun for the money. I want one, but monthly expenses keep me out of gun stores here lately. I'm still sticking back 100 bucks a week into the gun-fund but... It's slow going. I'm currently saving for the Chiappa Rhino 6'' barreled .357 due to the extreme recoil reduction and true low bore axis of it's design. It's a revolver that shoots from the bottom of the cylinder instead of the top. It sounded stupid at first, but once I shot one at the range, I was SOLD and had to have one. Smoothest shooting .357 EVER, period, hands down. But it's 1k-1,200 retail, so it'll be a while before I get that one.

If the rail/dust cover was longer, it had a bull barrel, and had an optics plate system that allowed you to mount optics that were actually good, this would be probably the best budget/entry-level 2011-style pistol. It would also probably be around 900 bucks with those additions/changes, in which case I would recommend to shop around for a used Prodigy or see if you can find a deal on a new one because they're only like 400-500 bucks more.

Agreed. I have a PX-9 gen-3 as my nightstand pistol - 20-rd capacity, flared mag well, RMR cut, multiple swappable grip panels… paid less than $300 shipped and transferred. It bangs, shoots soft and reliably. Glock sights and Sig-P226 magazines. Love it!

this might be an off the trail comment, but! I bought a rock island double stack 22TCM-9mm, to replace my older model that the barrel was stolen.
Rocks new line of five-inch barrel guns with full length rails wasn't what I wanted and only had a part length rail for the 4.5 inch barrel which I bought, but what I didn't really wanted.
Now, this is the design I was hoping rock had for their 22TCM-9mm line up, but didn't.
I was looking at this pistol hard, but I found a deal on their D10 model and went with that.

Would you recommend this as a first time gun owner? Mainly for range and training? I mainly want something in 9mm. I own airsoft and fired a few guns, but I don't want anything compact at least for my first firearm? I am also left handed. I was initially thinking the girshan m35 (i think) the hi power clone. I feel like this might be the better buy since 2011's are pricy outside of this and I have no idea about brands in the gun space.
Itd be super cool if Taran did a build on this kind of like the canik later in time.

If you want a cheap upgrade to put more weight near the muzzle is to add a full length guide rod and a tac light! Keeping your muzzle flat for follow up shots .
Making a gun lighter for carrying all day used to be a plus. Now, making it heavier is apparently a plus.
What you using as a holster for this thing? Also another budget option no one talks about are the rock island HC line
