FROM THE ARTIST:
This is my version of the lullaby from "Ronja Rövardotter / Ronia the robbers daugther" written by our most loved Swedish writer, Astrid Lindgren , whose books have been read for children all over the world. This song from the movie has always been very dear to me, especially as I was a child. But still now, as an adult, I feel so much for this song.
For a long time now I wanted to make my own version of it, and make some small changes in the melody. What do you think? :)
I really hope you will enjoy my version of this song!
The Swedish lyrics and translation can be found both further down here in the description, or in the subtitles of the video.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR WATCHING AND LISTENING! ♥

► Lyrics in Swedish + English translation (Text: Astrid Lindgren)
Vargen ylar i nattens skog
(The wolf is howling in the forest of the night)
Han vill men kan inte sova
(He wants to, but cannot sleep)
Hungern river i hans varga buk
(The hunger tears his wolven stomach)
Och det är kallt i hans stova
(And it's cold in his burrow)
Du varg du varg, kom inte hit
(Wolf, wolf, don't you come here)
Ungen min får du aldrig
( I will never let you take my child)
Vargen ylar i nattens skog
(The wolf is howling in the forest of the night)
Ylar av hunger o klagar
(Howling out of hunger and moaning)
Men jag ska ge'n en grisa svans
(But I will give him a pig tail)
Sånt passar i varga magar
(Which suits a wolven stomach)
Du varg du varg, kom inte hit
(Wolf, wolf, don't you come here)
Ungen min får du aldrig
( I will never let you take my child)
...(First verse again)

This is not a traditional lullaby, but it is written in the same style as really old Swedish lullabyes. Astrid Lindgren (Swedish author) wrote the lyrics for a movie 40-50 years ago and Swedish parents took it to their hearts. I work at a Kindergarten, and I often hear children sing it when they put the dolls to sleep.
Are the lyrics really by Astrid Lindgren!? Cool. Do you know which movie it was for? I teach 9-13 year olds and at some point we always read some of her stories. If I could find out where the lyrics are from I would think about including this next time we work with Astrid Lindgren.
Ooh, it is from "Ronja Røverdatter" Google is your friend.
I have followed Jonna for years. Her videos are beautiful and very calming.
Nice to hear how much you enjoy Jonna, and that you actually did visit her channel. It really is a great channel. Now... "Du varg" translates to "You! Wolf! " or something along those lines. Often times, but not all the time, in Swedish the letter G in the end of a word is pronounced like the letter J (VARJ). In the beginning of a word the letter is pronounced like a normal G, for instance the word "granne", meaning neighbor. Sweden and Norway are neighbors. But you knew that already. The word ALDRIG is an example of where the letter G in the end is pronounced like a normal G. The word can be heard in the lyrics right after "Du varg", where she sings "Ungen min får du aldriG" (I will never let you take my child) Norwegians understand 100% of the Swedish language, whereas the Swedes understand Norwegian somewhere in the range of 80-90%, due to obvious genetic differences. I'll leave it at that 😅🤣😂 I know Jonna commented on your reaction to her last time, and I guess if she sees what I just wrote, she will agree. YUP. Great start to the new year, my friend! 'Tis the year for spirituality 😉 Love from Norway ♥♥♥♥♥ BTW, both Norway and Sweden have a LOT of wolves, and they are bugging the crap out of many sheep farmers in both countries. As the sheep offer no resistance, the adolescent wolves use them as target practice and very easy food. But you can be sure the wolves were there long before the sheep, so I guess the farmers will have to deal with them.
You should hear her videos with singing ice. The most calming there is.
She has also some videos with Kulning where she sings for cows. Kulning is pretty similiar with how Aurora sounds sometimes.
Skulle vara häftigt om Aurora sjöng denna. Hennes röst är lik Jonnas och skulle passa perfekt.
To Native Americans, the wolf was the spirit teacher. It was never the villain it became under the influence of the church. The wolf is also revered by many other people whose spirituality is immersed in nature.
Not a villain but starving and looking for food, hence it was being fed out of compassion in the song. Sadly the core meaning was lost in translation.
bra sång!
Yes, this was an amazing listen.
Total agree to your thoughts about the great animal wolf. Love this song. They are very similar in technic Aurora and Jinton. Great reaction Sir.
When you speaks swedish you kinda connect the words, drop some letter and so on as youn notised when you heard her sing duvarg, is actually two words, Du och Varg (you and wolf)
VAarg ( G=J ) also Ulv older norse word still in use (Varulv= Werewolf )
I don't know why but this song makes me cry, every time. It is so beautifully sad. The starving wolf and the determined woman who woul do anything to protect her child. And I agree, the wolf itself is a very spiritual and mysterious animal. And yes her voice is haunting. I heard this song for the first time ever in a movie called Ronja Rövardotter by Astrid Lindgren, a very famous childauthour in Sweden. It must have been 40 years ago now and it stuck with me. Great reaction! 👍❤
Here is the link to that version, more raw in it's nature if you want to hear it 😊 ua-cam.com/video/EzHetqFABw4/v-deo.html
It's not traditional as duch, It's written by Björn Isfält and Astrid Lindgren for the film Ronja the robber's daughter 1984. From the book by Astrid Lindgren from 1981. Translated into at least 39 languages.
Don't know who Astrid Lindgren is?
I expect to be able to communicate with you in both Norwegian and Swedish by the end of the year, Bob ! Just pay attention to my lessons 😉
Nice reaction!
I think the fascination for wolves are due to their close kinship with dogs ("man's best friend"). We fear the wolf, but at the same time we admire it.
The best introduction to the magical landscapes where Jonna Jinton lives is "Living with the Dark Winters in Sweden | Midnight sun & Polar night":

And another of Jonna's "lullabys" is "Song of the ice | 10 HOURS raw ice sounds for sleep/meditation/relax":

the fact that disney stole her voice and sound to put in Frozen 2 and didnt even credit her is so sad. she made that song and they took it.
Hi. I wasn't aware of that. Smells like a lawsuit! ;) Thanks for the listen. I appreciate it.
It was Aurora that sang in Frozen 2, and that song/kulning inspired Jonna to write The Frozen Song.
Du varg, du varg is translated You wolf, you wolf
The wolf howls in the night forest
he wants to but can't sleep
Hunger tears in his wolfish belly
o it's cold in his stove
You wolf you wolf, don't come here
you'll never get my kid
The wolf howls in the night forest
howling with hunger and complaining
But I want a pig's tail
that fits wolves' bellies
You wolf you wolf, don't come here
you'll never get my kid
Sleep my child in mother's bed
Let the wolf howl in the night
but I'm going to have a chicken skank
if no one else has taken it
You wolf you wolf didn't come here
you'll never get the kid
ooo
kid you'll never get that
The wolf song
Wolf is Varg when she says "du varg du varg kom inte hit" the word du varg is more like saying Hey wolf hey Wolf do not come here.
du varg du varg means You wolf you wolf
She say you wolf in swedish it Will be Du Varg
