I drive the XE P250 facelift since January. It is really fun to drive but infotainment and assistance systems are definately not on the same level as in a BMW or Audi. But you see a 3'series or an A4 at every corner in Germany and it is really nice to drive something little bit special. 😉
Nice! I drive a 2017 XE 35t and I love it too. It’s really the best to drive in the class. It’s awesome driving something rare plus the jaguar amazing warranty ‘

I didn't like the rim either, but I was told their is an option to update some cool rims from the dealer itself. My brother just booked one, that is how I know.
Such a great looking car, still after 5 years. So many cars in this class try to look distinctive and end up being just ugly. New BMW 4 I’m looking at you. This car has such pure lines and a beautiful shape. That’s why getting in the back is so hard! Can’t understand the comments from others about the wheels. There are so many choices offered. Great Review Thomas. At 1:34 I said left - wrong this time! I quite like the JLR rear view mirror camera system. I wonder when, or if manufacturers will regularly fit proper built-in dashcams using their existing high quality cameras (I know some performance cars have this for track use, and Citroen has a basic system in some cars). Also dashcams are illegal in Austria I believe. Many thanks Autogefuhl.

I'm a little late to the party seeing this was uploaded 3 years ago, but comparing this to my 2017 jaguar xe s, the "riva hoop" element has seemed to disappear in this new facelift? As in there is no longer any trim such as wood, piano black, etc that is on the curve along the riva hoop. Did you ever find out why they decided to stop this as it is very strange since Jaguar had seemed so proud of this design element when the Jaguar xe was first released. is it due to cutting costs? Great video again, im bingeing all your videos at the moment.
@@sergamespl Leather isn't just a by-product of the meat industry. There surely are industries that try to make use of most animal parts but there also are industries where most of the animal is simply wasted because most parts of the animal aren't worth it to be processed further. It's just less effort to take an animal, kill it, sell the expensive stuff and get rid of the rest to make room for the next animal and continue with the good stuff.
@@earthstick Yes but dog food is a byproduct. It doesn't create the demand for cows to be killed. It's only there because of human consumption. So it's important that we don't create a demand for it. Watch the penis bit in Game Changers on Netflix, you'll never eat meat again. Gelatin is also a byproduct. It's like food made by an evil disney villain. The skinless skulls, and cartilage and sinew are cooked into a slime called gelatin, and then colored and turned into candy for children, but of course nobody tells them what they are really eating, because they would be horrified.
Great Review - as usual. Side note; Inspired as always by your music choice Thomas *runs to music service to find track played in the video* EDIT: I would die for a Thomas playlist *wink*
Hard to understand why do they use “shafts” on both sides of trunk lid. I used 407 with similar design and the trunk lid only had some hinges and folding joint parts instead of shafts (pipe bends) and saving great boot space.
Great review, thank you. I am a little bit concerned about the ground clearance. Does an owner of the XE have experience about it? How often did you touch the ground with the chassis, for instance on a bumby country road, or in snow?
Great review. I miss the raising gear dial and the volume control looks like it will break after 2 uses. The wheel rims make me want to throw up. Jag should go back to what they had before 2020, that said I'm glad it still drives well.
Great looking car - Jaguar owners expect leather (like it or not) most spec leather; Jaguar should offer alternatives for sure, but if buyers do not spec it, what can they do? that's the main issue, not the manufacturer - personally I am a fabric every time, for feel and use reasons.
@@autogefuehl I do agree - but Jaguar drives specifically are leather obsessed - its a smell thing (I had this discussion with a pal who has had 5 Jags in a row)
We need to change this idea that sitting on a dead animal's flesh is luxurious. It's rather barbaric don't you think? What if you sat on a dead dog's skin? Everyone would be outraged, because in dogs we recognise that it's awful to kill them. A cow is no different. They are just big dogs, but we normalized that their killing. This must change.
Being premium means quality, and offering customers options. If a customer wants non leather products, create a high quality alternative! Jags always end up costing more money than BMWs or Audis here in Canada, so you really have to love the design over it's competitors. I like it, but it doesn't wow me. In the end, I've always been scared away from JLR because of their quality issues. A R dynamic P300 AWD is 56k here. A Audi S3 is 48.4k. S4 is 60k. Hummm
My Dad just collected a new BMW330i and having been in his car, I'm drawn to this Jag (I currently have a 1Series) You can see the mega resources a company like BMW have thrown into it, but the Jag has a bit more character and for sure in my area, scarcity (not exclusivity as plenty could afford but opt German) If a Jag dealer was to price conscious of the stiff competition (and depreciation, depreciation, depreciation) and offer 3 year unlimited warranty and free servicing, the value would have me overlooking the compromises. Wild card would be a top spec Mazda3 saloon - yes not same segment but again - value
Animals are not just killed for their skins, and the carcass dumped, the whole of the animal is put to good use, leather interiors in Jaguars has always been part of its styling. We all have different opinions regarding the use of animal skin on furniture, its not a cruel process, and as i already said, we dont just kill the animal for its skin, its put to good use.Its a bit like saying making tyres from rubber obtained from tree's is going to ruin the planet, the process is a lot more involved

The animal agriculture industry occupies 2/3 of all farm land on this planet which cannot be used for direct human nutrition then. That is extremely inefficient. The no.1 cause for deforestation is the animal industry. It is also one of the biggest contributor to climate change. The amount of land, resources, energy and water being used is beyond imagination. For the alternative, you can either use artificial fabrics which can be made from recyclables (we have already shown a lot of vehicles that use great fabric seats from PET-bottles etc.) or more and more also from plant-based materials (like Pinatex). And even if you would create a seat completely with petroleum without a recycling share, the amount of oil being used for that is nothing in comparing just to once fueling up your car. In practical reasons, fabric or microfibre seats are just more useful. You do not sweat in summer and it is not cold in winter. Not using animal skin on seats is a major issue of animal rights, human rights - and after all just of common sense what is better both for the environment and just more practical and more luxurious for the customer. We cannot change what we have bought in the past (that also counts for ourselves of course!), but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future.
I think the animal would disagree that it's being put to good use. The animal would like to keep living. It's a sad that we treat living individuals as property and resources. A cow is just a big dog, watch them play on youtube with a ball.
The exterior is good enough, even the driving dynamics are sorted. The interior however is just not upto mark compared to the competition. JLR needs a comprehensive high quality interior/infotainment strategy like BMW/Audi.
A problem for JLR cars is that not all models share the same infotainment systems. Defender and 2021 iPace use their new Pivi Pro system which has better performance whilst older models still use InControl Touch Pro. They also seem to ship slow processors. I think their digital dash is better designed than the new Mercedes system. JLR make some baffling design decisions. The rear seat release mechanism is a joke.
I'm a lifelong vegetarian and Jaguar fan. I actually like leather seats - I know this may be a contradiction but on the other hand, the leather used in the motor industry is a by-product of the meat industry. If it wasn't used for seats, it would go to landfill.

@@autogefuehl Thanks for the reply Thomas - I've obviously not given it as much thought as you have and I appreciate you taking the time to better inform me - certainly a strong case against the leather industry. I enjoy your reviews by the way - thanks once again
Great review Thomas - Autogefuhl is now my favourite car review site - objective, detailed and you are genuinely interested in sharing the experience. I guess you recommend the P250 more than the P300 because of the RWD. My question is where do you see the future of Jaguar saloons? The XJ is gone. There seems to be less emphasis by dealers on the XF recently - that could be due to recent production set backs - but some markets are only getting the checkered flag edition of the XF. What do you think?
Beautifully styled car! Chunky wheels look out of place, though. Get rid of the silly leaping cat logo and they'll probably sell more cars to younger buyers.....
Not many people caring about Jaguar lately. What a shame! Once a great company, now trying hard (and failing) to get some relevance. What happened to them?
should be a federal crime to put this rims in such car, for me this car is a buy i don't care about what other people think, and i don't care if you think you are smarter than me to go with mercedes, i see something beautiful i take it, but the rims will stay in the dealer
Fine review, the car is ok. I wouldn't buy one, but its not awful. It looks good and probably drives ok too. Nothing special however. A step above a Jetta I suppose. lol Have a great week Thomas
Jaguar Land Rover built a brand new factory just off the M6 near Wolverhampton to make their own engines. The first was a diesel 4 fitted to the XE when it was launched in 2015. Now 4 & 6 cylinder petrol & diesel, mild hybrid & plug in hybrid. They are available on all models in the range except for the I-Pace which is electric.

Thank you very much for your interest in this topic. I also bought cars with animal skin leather seats before I did my research and got to know the industry. The most important thing is: With today's modern materials, you have nothing to lose, just to gain. You achieve the same kind of luxury and comfort or even better while having the same or better durability with less impact on humans, animals and the environment. You can use fabric/cloth, microfibre or leatherette. The classic approach is using oil/plastic as source material. Overall, a vehicle contains about 300 kg plastic. A car seat needs about 5 kg plastic. So the overall plastic share for the seats is very low and it is at this moment the most efficient way to produce a car seat. A couple of litres of fuel equals a car seat basically. So if you want to save oil/plastic, rather look at consumption for energy, fuel and heating and to other car parts than the seat. Note that animal skin leather also always contains a plastic coating for durability. However, long-term we should of course find raw oil alternatives. So going further, seats can be made from recyclables (e.g. from PET-bottles or old fishing nets) or even increased share of plant-based materials (like pine oil, canola oil or start-up materials like Pinatex from pineapple leaves or Desertex from cactus fibre or the mixed-plant-based Mirum, so be seen at ua-cam.com/video/S1aNZeoatmE/v-deo.html). On a calculation base, by ditching animal skin leather from car interiors, the amount of emissions (CO2e) is reduced by 85 (!) % (www.press.bmwgroup.com/africa-dom-easteurope/article/detail/T0403389EN/on-the-market-from-2023:-bmw-and-mini-models-with-vegan-interiors?language=en) - and that is a very conservative calculation. So it is at this moment the most important thing you can do to make car interiors more sustainable. A good example for high-end luxury with ventilated animal free seats is the BMW X7 with Sensafin: ua-cam.com/video/1pRNkW9nrrw/v-deo.html And the Kia EV9 with plant-based oil share: ua-cam.com/video/6vXePQi_MAk/v-deo.html New leatherette materials can be superior in every aspect, even for cleaning: ua-cam.com/video/u94YXJ72UTA/v-deo.html More and more natural materials are rising: ua-cam.com/video/nRSsXEnwHDo/v-deo.html Also check out what the animal skin leather industry tried to with our channel: ua-cam.com/video/nP_CvLlaFlI/v-deo.html For seeing how the animals are being treated and transported in the global leather industry, watch this footage: ua-cam.com/video/tkjCAmq1_8E/v-deo.html Note that the footage is genuine and was recorded by a highly decorated investigative journalist in Germany I know myself personally. In a high animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter. However even if meat is the "first" misuse case, the hide remains a profitable body part. That means: If manufacturers put animal leather in a car and you demand it as a customer, you give your money to an industry that earns money by oppressing humans, animals and harms the environment, you make them more profitable. Alternatively, you could support industries with your wallet which try to improve the sustainability of materials. Also, if you turn the argument around to "meat is the waste of the leather industry" you realize that it doesn't make sense (and is ethically doubtful) to discuss the primary use of individual body parts of mammals. Mind experiment: You are getting slain down on the street; would it matter to you if it was for your smartphone or for your purse? We cannot change what we have bought in the past, but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future.
Maybe it's just me, but I thought cows were killed for their meat....obviously got that wrong, seems their killed for their leather and the meat just ends up on plate.

@@autogefuehl Thank you Thomas, I appreciate your stance on this. However I was a vegetarian for almost 30 years...didn't stop people eating meat. If I went to a restaurant I had one vegetarian choice, everything else was meat. At christmas I had a nut roast.....didn't stop millions of turkeys being slaughtered, and Thomas, they were killed for humans to eat.....not to find somewhere to put the stuffing.
@@autogefuehl I LOVE the channel, I was here before a 100K, but this argument is also biased and I think you shouldn't promote your own views on the channel. You statement (the moral part) only makes sense if you promote veganism also, however it would be VERY unethical and autocratic to force that lifestyle on any given person. A meat eating person probably thinks that killing a cow and killing a human being is a VASTLY different act morally - and I think also that we could make very convincing arguments to ground that (even our legal system is built on such premise). So please don't ever compare killing a cow to killing a human being and how it would be similar - this is just a trigger for many people and also a very questionable statement from a philosophical perspective. From an environmentalist perspective your statement on this issue makes a lot more sense, so I would keep the discussion in that valley.
The problem I see with Tata Jaguar is that it stands on ceremony and its corporate cheapness is reflected in its slower response to customer needs and complaints than its competitors. Even Italy’s FCA Entities and China Geely Volvo regularly give their cars and interior tech updates more frequently than this company. The current economic stagnation/ Carpocalypse will further set apart winners from losers. Though I do understand an xe class , similar to 1/2 series BMW and A/cla/c class are for the aspirational classes of cars to get up and coming drivers hooked on a company’s products so power and performance aren’ t always the first considerations.

At 11:13 is reported that it Jaguar XE has 15.5 cubic feet or 440 liters of trunk space. This is the typical FAKE GOURMET sedan, the one that comes ready to be swallowed by an SUV. In the ranking of decent sedans with a trunk capacity above 500 liters or 17.6 cubic feet (SEDANS TOP 500) it does not enter. The trunk of this car is similar than the trunk of the Renault Megane, a HATCHBACK sold in Australia which has a trunk of 434 liters or 15.3 cubic feet of capacity. The best of Jaguar is the XF with 540 liters of trunk capacity which makes it a SEDAN TOP 500.
sitting on leather doesn't kill cows and damage the environment. Purchasing it does though, so don't create a demand for animal products. That's why Thomas always says not to purchase them.
Side profile... hmmm, the rear looks really uninspired, dull and CHEAP! It looks like a car from the nineties. I am referring to the rear part of the side profile only, not the whole car. I am disappointed.
How dull, It’s essentially a tarted up 12 year old design, just proves that Jaguar is lazy, shockingly so, past it and probably on the way out. (Thomas you are great as always !)
Despite the taky new trims, the quality of this product is very poor indeed, way behind German offerings. Jaguars arrogance and bad taste never more exemplified by the use of slaughtered animals again as Thomas points out. No choices for the customer, just pay your money and take what you're given. An appalling approach to constomers, at a time when the motor industry is in dire need of sales. Vote with your feet people, do yourselves and animals a favour and buy anything else and show your good taste and clear consciences.
Tesla does not offer animal skin seats at all anymore. What happened to Tesla business and Tesla stock? And what happened to Jaguar Land Rover recently? Do ur research. The future is cruelty free.
@@iCoolaxe They stopped offering them to add more value to the car, along with heated, ventilated seats as a package at high cost. The silly argument put forward is there is no demand for cloth. Hello Thomas! From your experience, what do you recommend: this Jaguar XE, Alfa Julia petrol or Volvo S60 T4/T5?
I'm a little late to the party seeing this was uploaded 3 years ago, but comparing this to my 2017 jaguar xe s, the "riva hoop" element has seemed to disappear in this new facelift? As in there is no longer any trim such as wood, piano black, etc that is on the curve along the riva hoop. Did you ever find out why they decided to stop this as it is very strange since Jaguar had seemed so proud of this design element when the Jaguar xe was first released. is it due to cutting costs? Great video again, im bingeing all your videos at the moment.
Don't worry Thomas, jaguars kill cows as well😂😂😂
For survival, not for pleasure or to sit or lie on it
@@autogefuehl But people still will kill cows for meat so what's wrong with also getting their skin to use?
@@sergamespl Leather isn't just a by-product of the meat industry. There surely are industries that try to make use of most animal parts but there also are industries where most of the animal is simply wasted because most parts of the animal aren't worth it to be processed further. It's just less effort to take an animal, kill it, sell the expensive stuff and get rid of the rest to make room for the next animal and continue with the good stuff.
@@Skare147 I don't expect any part the animal is wasted. There is always dog food.

The interior is nice, but somehow not that special. Could be a mazda 6.
Wonder why the touch screen is recessed ?
Can we increase its ground clearance ?
You would recommend this as family car? Like back space for people etc...?
Hry Thomas, planning to review the new F pace? Seems to improve by alot
Great Review - as usual.

😎
I had one as a hire car last year - that was a fun week :D
Hard to understand why do they use “shafts” on both sides of trunk lid. I used 407 with similar design and the trunk lid only had some hinges and folding joint parts instead of shafts (pipe bends) and saving great boot space.
Does it have aluminum chassi?
Thanks
I test drove a 2019 one with a screen where the heater controls are. Have they taken that out now or is this not the HSE model?
seems to be an option
The second screen is a option. This is S version and that option is standard on HSE models
Great review, thank you. I am a little bit concerned about the ground clearance. Does an owner of the XE have experience about it? How often did you touch the ground with the chassis, for instance on a bumby country road, or in snow?
No problems. I have a P300 XE R Sport and never an issue
Great review. I miss the raising gear dial and the volume control looks like it will break after 2 uses. The wheel rims make me want to throw up. Jag should go back to what they had before 2020, that said I'm glad it still drives well.
That's the end of the Jaguar XE
Plot twist: Thomas appears from inside the trunk.
😂
Great looking car - Jaguar owners expect leather (like it or not) most spec leather; Jaguar should offer alternatives for sure, but if buyers do not spec it, what can they do? that's the main issue, not the manufacturer - personally I am a fabric every time, for feel and use reasons.
They can just offer a high grade leatherette like Mercedes, BMW and Tesla do
@@autogefuehl I do agree - but Jaguar drives specifically are leather obsessed - its a smell thing (I had this discussion with a pal who has had 5 Jags in a row)
@@OldPortsmouth its the smell, you are right, but times are a changin

S4 is 60k. Hummm
My Dad just collected a new BMW330i and having been in his car, I'm drawn to this Jag (I currently have a 1Series)
You can see the mega resources a company like BMW have thrown into it, but the Jag has a bit more character and for sure in my area, scarcity (not exclusivity as plenty could afford but opt German)
If a Jag dealer was to price conscious of the stiff competition (and depreciation, depreciation, depreciation) and offer 3 year unlimited warranty and free servicing, the value would have me overlooking the compromises.
Wild card would be a top spec Mazda3 saloon - yes not same segment but again - value
Great Review Thomas.
But these rims are ugly
Now that Jag has dropped the v6 option there are very few compelling reasons to consider the car anymore if you are a typical sports sedan buyer.
Reid Tucker Ingenuim engine series is not for the enjoyment of driving.

In general, depending on the animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter. However even if meat would be the reason no.1 in other cases, the hide remains one of the most profitable body parts. That means: If manufacturers put animal leather in a car and you accept it as a customer, you give your money to an industry that earns money by oppressing humans, animals and destroys the environment, you make them more profitable. Also, if you turn the argument around "meat is the waste of the leather industry" you realize how biased the argument is. After all, would you care for which body part you would murdered? Or imagine someone robs you on the street and beats you to death - would it matter to you if it was for your Smartphone or for your purse?
Indeed. Living being = wants to live and would never agree to be killed. And exactly, there is no difference in killing cats, dogs, pigs, cows.
Stay safe Thomas, stay healthy. Thx for another detailed review... am still not a jaguar fanboy. In love with my X1 2020 🖤
U too!
What's the mpg on the P250 petrol rwd?
Alexander Foster it’s just like how some of merc’s lineup uses COMMAND or MBUX.
I'm a lifelong vegetarian and Jaguar fan. I actually like leather seats - I know this may be a contradiction but on the other hand, the leather used in the motor industry is a by-product of the meat industry. If it wasn't used for seats, it would go to landfill.

F Pace have a large buyers in North America
This reviewer seems obsessed with car's not having leather seats for the great majority of people that is a non issue
A good example for high-end luxury with ventilated animal free seats is the BMW X7 with Sensafin: ua-cam.com/video/1pRNkW9nrrw/v-deo.html

Jaguar wouldn't have stopped offering cloth seats, if there was actually any significant demand for them.
Tesla does not offer animal skin seats at all anymore. What happened to Tesla business and Tesla stock? And what happened to Jaguar Land Rover recently? Do ur research. The future is cruelty free.
Court u are absolutely right. The truth is hard but people will appreciate those who speak the truth
@@autogefuehl I'd argue that Tesla and Jaguar have rather different customer bases.
@@iCoolaxe They stopped offering them to add more value to the car, along with heated, ventilated seats as a package at high cost. The silly argument put forward is there is no demand for cloth. Point is there is no option available other than revolting leather, so you can't point to a lack of demand as you simply don't know.
looks dated, inside and outside. you can do better jaguar
