Join me for another weekend trip, this time away in one of Europe's best hidden gems! Gdansk, in northern Poland, is a city filled with history, and yet has a contemporary and fun feel to it. From London, the city is easily accessible (2 hour flight with lots of low-cost flights!), and provides a great choice of quality food and drink at very reasonable prices and lots of activities to fill your itinerary. As a result, this is a MUST if you are looking for a weekend away. Our vlog showcases the highlights of what to do in 48 hours in Gdasnk. Please find the full video itinerary below! (In short .. yes, Gdansk is worth visiting!)
The Out of Office Traveller channel showcases travel guides for working professionals that love to travel and want to maximise their limited time off, by giving first hand tips and advice for amazing travel destinations. We are friends from London, and between us, have travelled to over 70 countries - and hope to see many more! We spend our spare time doing as much research as we can on our next destinations. Itinerary + Tips - Gdansk (Poland)
Travel
Flights from London - relatively cheap direct flights, only 2 hours away
Getting around - Uber is available and again fairly cheap to get around, a 30 min ride cost around £10-15
Food / Drink
Kashubian food (traditional Polish breakfast) - check out Kafebe cafe
Pierogies at Mandu - this is a MUST - tasty Polish dumplings / you may be tempted to order a few but note that these are really filling. One plate is enough for one adult in my opinion!
Flisak-76 - speakeasy style bar with great story telling cocktail menus - a MUST at £5 per cocktail!
Wisniewski - local cherry liquor bar - only thing on the menu!
Lumi Shotbar - not essential but a fun local bar with a long list of fun and creative shots
Goldwasser - great food with river views, and you must try the Goldwasser drink with golden flakes post dinner (it has been brewed since 1598!)
To do:
Mariacka Street - great for pictures and shopping / very touristy so try going early in the morning or late at night + see the Armoury
The Armoury
The Royal Way and Długi Targ (the Long Market) - main city square / lovely place to walk around and find somewhere to eat
St. Mary’s Church + Viewpoint - birds-eye view of Gdansk
WW2 Museum / European Solidarity Centre: 2 excellent museums which depict the story of Poland, Gdansk, the wars, and what happened next under communist rule.
Góra Gradowa - viewpoint of the city plus WW2 bunkers - pretty cool but expect a 10-15 minute walk to the outskirts of the city
Orlowski Cliffs + Sopot - a 30 minute taxi ride out of the city, walk through some amazing cliffs, piers and check out the Baltic sea! (In the summer, this is a popular beach resort!)
I have so many wonderful memories of Gdansk. I lived in Poland for 2 and a half years. The best years of my life. I love 🇵🇱
Amazing - glad you enjoy Gdansk as much as we do
Gdansk is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Hidden gem 💎 with growing tourists number every year.
No offense, but you haven't been around much
@@LeutnantJoker Wszystko co napisał jest prawdą. Taki durny komentarz mógł zamieścić oczywiście tylko Polak. Dawaj te piękniejsze wg ciebie miasta, tylko chociaż troszkę w podobnym stylu (więc np. taka Florencja odpada).

Nie wycieraj gęby Polakami.
Gdansk is absolutely amazing city. I approve this message.
It really is!!! :)
Gdansk, Sopot and Gdynia are absolutely phenomenal.
Totally agree - surprised that not many people know about this spot - the trip was really enjoyable!!! highly highly recommend :)
@@theoutofofficetraveller yes, definitely well-known with the locals, but not yet discovered by the international travelers.
I have been there in 1975 ,1997 and going back this year in October . Magnificent city.
Thanks for the few great suggestions.
Our pleasure! We are so glad you enjoyed our itinerary and I hope you have a fantastic time in October. Please do let us know what you thought of it and any other hidden gems you might find!
There are waiting a lot of changes for you :) Gdańsk have changed in last years a lot! Enjoy your time :)
my lovely home :) London will never win
haha! totally agree - amazing place! :)
Thank you so much for these awesome tips! I just came back from Gdansk and I am so glad that I watched your video before. Been to Lumi, Flisak 76 and Wisnieski - 3 awesome bars indeed! Love Gdansk- really a hidden gem!
Thank you so much for this comment, it made our day! So glad you enjoyed the bar recommendations and the video, and happy to hear you had a nice time in one of our new favourite cities.
hi, thank you for sharing this video. Really like it. Helpful for my boyfriend who is moving to Poland from London with me. cheers
Great video, Gdansk is at the top of my short list for destinations in 2023.
I hope you love it as much as we do!
Very nice film!
Regards from 3city!
Thank you we really appreciate your support! Our new video comes out today :)
I usually go to Krakow for my break from Ukraine but you have convinced me to check out Gdansk ;-)
It was a nice presentation.
I know amazing Gdansk quite well and this is some good advice. Just one note...the torture stuff is at the Upland gate, not Green gate. Sad but Kafebe is now closed down. A popular alternative exc is Malbork, one of the biggest castles in the world (20-30 mins by train).
Thank you for your feedback!!!
Great video, very informative. Shocked that u only have 24 subs :o that will rise in no time for sure! Keep up the good work! Felt like i watched a very professional travel video. Just wish it was longer, felt very rushed. Maybe split in 3 episodes of day 1/2/3 and feed us more =) Pretty sure UA-cam love longer videoes also
When in Gdańsk you should visit KL Stuthoff. Very close to Gdańsk
This is the best/most informational video I've watched about Gdansk! Thank you so much for this!
Thank you! Your comment made my day, glad you enjoyed!
Really Great!
Thank you so much! Really appreciate your support!!!
Fantastic video 👍! Great guide to Gdansk! Very inspirational! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
You should visit KL Stuthoff. Very close to Gdańsk
thanks for the recommendation - we will check it out in our next trip!
why Poland is clean and safe... I don't know, but I can guess
Rhetorical question. If Gdansk isn't worth visiting then I don't know what is.
Haha, we totally agree - absolutely loved it!
We are thinking of going in February, will things be open?
Hi Claire! Yes, this is when we went and filmed this video actually, last Feb! The only thing that was closed was going up to the top of the tower at St. Mary's, but I think we were just unlucky on that one as it said it was open.
Hey this is a great video , we are planning to go there from Denmark in October - what month did you visit there? I can see peole are wearing jackets and beanie hats :)
Thanks for your feedback - much appreciated!!! We were there at the end of February. It got cold during the evenings but we were lucky with the weather during the day. I see that based on the average weather forecast October should be warmer than February - fingers crossed. I hope you have a great trip and do let us know what you think :)
@@theoutofofficetraveller thank so much 🙏🙏
Hey! How was the trip/weather? Thinking of going in October as well :)
@@TechByteOfficial it was fantastic actually, still need to carry a thin layer jacket though for early mornings or evenings when the breeze is colder.
Enjoy it 🙏🙏
@@pro_gamer_4ever awesome! Thanks for the reply :)
Got any absolute must-dos that were the highlight of your trip?
Nice guide, but super quiet audio!
Really appreciate the feedback! We are a new channel so always looking to improve. We'll look to get that fixed in our upcoming video. Thanks so much! :)
Just came back: NO
I’d return in a heartbeat if I could. It’s so beautiful, peaceful, and underrated 🫶🏼
So not travel to Poland. You know the Polis Triathlon Walking to a public swimming pool and return by a stolen bicycle
No never Go to Poland
It's Danzig.😉😎
No this is Gdańsk
Gdańsk is an indigenous Polish city. It is pronounced and spelled Gdańsk. The Germans were only hospitable here as an undesirable element.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORING.
