The Bible Lab presents SERPENT & STICKS, with host Roy Ice. This is an exploration of the four main trees in the Bible that demonstrate God's character.
In Episode 11, Part 1, we research the Tree Of Knowledge Of Good and Evil.
    Genesis 2:17 and 3:1-9
    We ask:
    • What does the Tree of Knowledge represent?
    • Did it really exist or is it just a metaphor?
    • What does it say about God’s character that he would place the Tree of Knowledge in “the middle” of the Garden, instead of placing it somewhere else?
    • What does it say about God’s character that in creating this tree He made it "good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes” (Gen 3:6).
    • Why would uprooting this tree from the Genesis story distort God’s true character?
    • What did the serpent offer? How did this malign God’s character?
    • God has typically been seen not only as a God who prohibits but also as a God who persuades by force and threats. Does the Tree of Knowledge enforce that view or contradict it?
    • How is the Tree of Knowledge a statement of God’s core convictions?
Faith For Today's Speaker/Director Roy Ice teams up with a crew of diverse voices to bring you a fun multi-screen experience as we explore the true character of God. During the live session, join in on the fun by using a second device (mobile phone, tablet or computer) by going to www.PollEv.com/royice123. This will give you a multi-screen experience which will allow you to vote, click and write in responses that the hosts will have to respond to in real time.

We, as human beings, are limited in our thinking and can not know everything about God. All I know is what the Bible tells us. The Bible tells us that everything that God created was good, very good. The opposite of good would be evil. But there was really no good reason for having evil in our world. Only God understood what the opposite of good was and there really was no reason for human beings to understand this because we had everything that we could possibly desire.
But when Satan disguised as a serpent came along, we were told that if we ate from this fruit, we would know everything that God knows and and we would be like God.
Satan was right about one thing. If we ate from the tree, we would be like God, knowing good and evil, We are certainly learning about that here in this world.
I think the greatest lesson of all time is simply to trust God.
