First--it's great that your dad let you do a Veteran's Day salute to the men and women who have served our country and fought for our freedoms. I'm a few days late watching your reaction, and I think our veterans have earned our thanks every day. I enjoyed this song and your reaction to it. MVR for this video is Claire, whose analysis of the keyboards sounding like the trumpets of a military band was very insightful. I do get a feeling that is what Sammy Hagar and his band were trying to evoke, and it was great to see some young listeners pick up on that. Keep up the great work on the reaction videos, you two!

Thank you so much for this music selection. Sammy had the Vietnam vet in mind when he wrote this song. I was too young for Vietnam but I joined just after Vietnam.
It was rough. We couldn't leave base in uniform and we were advised to only leave base in groups because some service members were jumped on the street by anti war thugs-even though the war was over.
In San Diego, on a bus, I heard a mother tell her teenage daughter:"First, date a civilian and if that's not available, someone fresh out of prison or jail. If no other choice, date a sailor-but never date a Marine."
It didn't stop there. After four years in service I transitioned to the reserve. I had to find a full time job. The New Mexico Chef and Restaurant Association had a ban against hiring vets. Yeah, it was illegal, but prove it. Finally, after a month and nearly 300 applications a large hotel chain hired me.
9/11 changed things for the better for vets. There are a lot of benefits that didn't exist before. For instance, in the 80's, when I applied for disability, I was turned down flat cold. Last year I had a Dr. go to bat for me and I got the disability (hearing loss).
Props to dad for raising you kids awesome. My family appreciates your love for the troops

Sammy Hagar is one of the 80s most recognized voices and is the outstanding president of partying.
Remember the Heroes. It may not have been the smash hit single of its time but it certainly held an important place for many.
Still licking our wounds from the Vietnam War and moving to a more patriotic face for the country, this song was in the right moment.
The 80s power ballad feel and some poignant lyrics. Yeah it made some sense.

Memorial day is the day on which we remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Veterans day is to honor all the men and women who serve and have served in our military services. My Grandfather was a member of the first group while myself, my father, my uncle, my brother and my first cousin were members of the latter.
We now have a President who WILL remember the heroes and not call them "suckers" and "losers".
Thanks for giving the veterans the respect they so very much deserve. My dad was in the Korean War he's no longer with us but every Veterans Day he would visit the cemetery to pay his respects.God bless our great republic now more than ever 🙏🇺🇸

I saw the Red Rocker in Providence,R.I. back in the early 80s. Awesome of course. Sammy brought out Brad Delp, Boston's lead singer, to take the vocals on this one. Still remember that. 🤘

Great song from Sammy hager's solo career back in the early 80s so it does sound like an 80s song Claire. Thank you for the tribute when I was in the army back in the seventies no one thank me for my service those were trying times no one accepted the war in Vietnam though I didn't go I was there just in case great analysis guys and as always cheers

The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918 was the signing of the Treaty of Versailles which ended WWI. That is why this date was chosen as Veteran's Day (Remembrance Day in Canada, and observed by many countries worldwide).

It was signed at 5.45am but came into affect at 11pm. Fighting continued right up to 11.00.
We also call the nearest Sunday Remembrance Day, the 11th is Armistice Day. But they celebrate the same thing.
