One thing to remember about KISS, most of their songs are written in the first person point of view. This allows the fans to feel engaged with the band when they sing along at the concert.
VERY COOL DAD! His kids are very well balanced and thriving thanks to his good parenting. (It's also cool to see the resemblance in his face and his mannerisms to those of his children after having watched several videos by his kids!)
Kiss is fun. They can play. Almost 50 years later. They have great songs. A great show. Mainstream radio, critics shit on them since their start...but the fans got it . You get it now. Kiss never tried to change the world. Just have fun . Kiss like them or not remain one of the biggest and most influential bands of all time.
Rock am Ring (German for Rock at the Ring. Pronounced “am”, not “A.M.”) is one of Germany’s largest outdoor music festivals. It takes place at the Nürbergring; a racing and Grand Prix motor sports complex. In 2010 it was sold out at a 86.500 capacity. Gene and Paul were 60 and 59 respectively, at the time
Really fun, silliness… Ace played this classic on the “Kiss Alive” album, back in the day… Tommy Thayer does a great respectful version in this performance… He’s not Ace, but then again, who is? 😂
Hey Dad, really enjoyed watching you see this song for the first time. However, Tommy Thayer is the lead guitarist on this version. I’ve seen KISS 6 times, the first time in 1976 with the original members and the last time on their “End Of The Road Tour” in 2019! Every concert was great, but I must say, besides the original members: Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Peter Criss(drums), and Ace Freley(lead guitar), when Eric Carr join playing drums and Bruce Kulick on lead guitar, that was the best combination! Look up Eric Carr and find one of his drum solos with KISS and I think you will understand! Eric Carr died in 1992 and it was a sad day for Rock and Roll!
Have a lot more respect for Kiss now than when I was younger. As you said, they're not the most technically proficient musicians but you get your money's worth when you a attend a concert. Saw them in Duluth, MN in 1977. The opening band was Uriah Heep. Recommendation: Since summer is here how about some surf music? Something from Dick Dale , Fender IV, The Centurion or The Atlantics
Anyone who attends a Kiss concert ALWAYS Gets their money’s worth. 🤘🏻. This one of their least popular songs but I have always thought of this as top tier.
Great timing, one of the few bands I wasn’t into hardcore was Kiss, until the last few months. I’ve already accumulated around 10 Kiss CDs, and have been loving them. We’re doing Kiss In History of Rock right now, I actually got Gene to Google Meet in and talk to us on this upcoming Monday, I’m so excited! Edit: If you’re doing more Kiss, I’d like to recommend “Rocket Ride” off Alive II, “You Wanted The Best” off Psycho Circus, and “Tears Are Falling” off Asylum.
I own a lot of vinyl. This was my band as a teenager. Paul Stanley is the circus master. I adore this band. They were the first band I saw live and it was epic.
You're right, not so much for technical ability, they are all about the show. Seen them twice, the 1st reunion tour in the mid 90's and then again around 99-2000. Both were great shows. The memory that stands out was on the 1st reunion tour, Peter Cris grabbed a stool, parked it front and center, sat down , and sang "Beth' acapella.
Way to go Dad! My fave KISS song of all time...kudos on doing a KISS live version....find the version on KISS ALIVE (1975) for the best version ever....and that's not Ace...its Tommy Thayer
APPROVE 💯 Dad, your reaction was really professional. Only one tiny issue: don't pause for too long. Mabye it's just me but it's better to talk about the song after the end. Let the music do the talking. Other than that, this reaction was put up together pretty nicely. The series definitely has good potential in two ways. Either you can leave it on the existing channel to boost its subs or start up another channel which, with your superb musical knowledge, would attract those hardcore music nerds and your channel would take off like a space shuttle. Whatever you choose to do, dad, it's a win for you, it's a win for us. Cheers!
Love them or not, you cannot deny that Kiss are incredible performers. They are a great band because they have fantastic energy, they put on a great show, and they play really well together live. That is no surprise since they came from the era when almost all bands had to hone their craft by playing live in bars and clubs at nights and on the weekends, and they almost always had to generate some kind of following in a local market before they would get discovered by the A&R agents from a major record label. I have never been enough of a Kiss fan to want to go to one of their shows, but from all the live footage I have seen of them performing (including this show when they were well into their 50s and 60s) I know that the performances would be great. MVR for this one has to go to Dad. Since you asked, I had not heard this song before watching your video either, so it was new to me. I'm trying to think if there's a song I know that you would not know, and at the moment I'm coming up blank. I have a feeling that growing up, you and I listened to the same kind of "deep cut" classic rock and roll radio stations that would not just play the singles but would go deep into the album. In the meantime, if Claire and Walker haven't reacted to any Golden Earring, I'd suggest perhaps "Twilight Zone" for them. Despite the title, the song was not inspired by the old TV show, but instead by a relatively obscure (at the time) novel by Robert Ludlum called "The Bourne Identity" (the song may have been recorded before Matt Damon was even born).
Great reaction, dad! This performance gets that adrenaline rush. They still have it in them. First time hearing this song as well. 🤘I really enjoy it! I dig that shirt! 👍
@@haigo I was just pointing it out since the kid's father doesn't know a lot about the band and the changes. Sadly both Peter and Ace couldn't keep their heads on straight and neither of them has the chops anymore, especially Peter. :-(

I think you were underselling the playing on this track a bit. Every time someone talks about Kiss, it's like they have to add in "It's not very technically proficient".I think the lead work here is very creative, and perfect for the song, I'd even say it excels for the song. And is no simpler than 90% of other popular songs. Okay, it's not Steve Vai, but how much of music is?
I agree with Forza, less pausing. New suggestion - get outside your comfort zone and listen to Kylie Minogue. Not sure how familiar you are with her, very underrated in the US.
