  • Bigger and filled with lots of tech, the redesigned 2024 Hyundai Kona will surely impress a lot of buyers. However, it's not really better in this one very important metric.

Just bought the Kona Limited and agree wholeheartedly w/ the reviews. My initial disappointment is lack of any type of spare tire.... just some emergency kit.

My 2019 Kona had the "fix a flat" kit and luckily I never needed it, but my 2022 Kona does have a spare tire and I've used it already when some punk slashed several sidewalls at my gym's parking lot. No emergency kit could fix a slashed sidewall!

      You can buy a spare

I have a spare in mine, its an emergency tire. Pixked the kona limited up three days ago. Plus you can buy a real spare tire for $200 and be good to go

Not sure about USA, but in Europe car includes Hyundai Assistance Service so you don't need any spare tire, someone will come to you (within 1 hour based on my experience) and fix it for free

Put a deposit down for the new Kona. Loved the test drive and the features! Actually found out at the end it was in eco mode but omg it was so responsive as well as the breaking. The suspension was smooth and glided over any bumps you barely even noticed them. Seats were comfortable and the LKA pretty much did the steering for me. I’m so excited to get this new Kona!!!

Good for you! Good luck with it! I have a 2018 with the 2.0. 135k on it and it's the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned. I've done 2 repairs, not to the motor, totalling under $500 in 6 yrs.

I noticed that you hit the wrong button for the wireless charging. It was the button next to the one you hit that says Qi 😎

With me it's the size. This is size that is almost useful but not quite, no room behind the rear seats. The rear hatch is slanted way forward reducing the size. In the this size of car the more upright rear of the Rav4 make things a lot more usable, and if this is your only car that's a big deal. You also have that insurance thing going on.

was planning to buy a Kona for my daughter as a present when she graduates collage in January, But it seems they are not selling the hybrid or plug in hybrid in North America. She is now looking for her second choice

    • @Steve_in_NJ
      @Steve_in_NJ 6 місяців тому +1

Yes, I would like a hybrid. Looking at Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid as well, but their interior is so plain compared to the Kona. But it also depends on how long to get one built and delivered to me in time for my current lease end date.

I know Australia and Europe get the Kona in a Hybrid; Europe actually get a choice of a 1.0 48V Mild Hybrid or 1.6 240V Full Hybrid.

This 1.6-liter turbo is going on the higher trims of the Forte replacement, the K4.

I have a gray metallic 24 with H- Trac 1.6 turbo. I love it. But I have a true spare tire and NOT an emergency kit. I’m guessing they realized that the emergency kit wasn’t a good idea. I also have a 2018 Pulse Red Kona Limited that my wife drives. They are certainly completely different inside. And I have noticed difference in the mileage. My 2018 is not HTrac which could have something to do with it. I do like the style . I have people ask me all the time is that an electric car? And I tell them no it’s gas. But I do like my wives 2018 better overall. The other difference I noticed that if I’m really accelerating and change lanes it feels like the front end drifts for a second or two. Like it’s pushing the car or something but I think it’s probably the all wheel drive and all the wheels pull which I’m not used to. So , I drive both the new and first generation Konas all the time. But if I had to choose one I would take my wives first generation 2018 over my 24. But in HTRAC TRIM.

I just got he 2024 Limited(12/2023). The power train has plenty of power for it's size. It is not a rocket off the stop light(0-60). But 60-100+ is where it shines. This has the power curve of a Rally car like a Porsche 911 Turbo. The 8 speed is very smooth and responsive to me. But I have to admit they have de-tuned the 1.6T over the years. Slightly more Torque and less HP than the Turbo Veloster I test drove years ago with the same engine.
Another thing about this car, the Limited trim is probably the cheapest luxury car you can get right now. You sit in a limited and it feels like you are sitting in a mini Genesis. I test drove the N-Line with AWD. It was cool and more sport oriented. But for the same money I could get the fully loaded model without AWD. Since I already own a 2022 Santa Cruz AWD, I chose to go for the Limited over the N-Line. They have the same power train, so it is just a matter of preference.

I'm looking at going from my 2022 Kona Limited to the 2024 Kona Limited when my lease ends next year. I like the Limited features that nobody else has in this category. Ventilated seats. Heated steering wheel. Self Park feature on the key fob. Turning lane cameras mounted on the side mirrors. Yes please! Only negative is the mpg sucks but for me, I don't drive enough so I don't think I'll notice this as much as my 2022.

I ran my Kona through a car wash tunnel for the first time. Discovered you cannot switch into drive from N without depressing the brake, which is a problem. I tripped the safety in the tunnel. Oops. I suspect I will have to learn to sense when the car is absolutely clear of the pusher roller. Would be nice if they offered a car wash mode.

My advice: find a touchless wash and never use a car wash that has brushes and requires you to be in N.
Better on the paint. Cleans better than brushes. You just sit there in Park until you're done.

We are a Hyundai family owning nine different models. Very disappointed in Hyundai's current lighting designers. Why would you place the rear light cluster, especially the rear turn signal so low down? This is a major visibility safety issue for me so I will not be buying one. A Corvettes lights are considerably higher and that's a sports car!! Disappointed as I was definitely in the market.

I drive a 2022 Kona Limited and leased a 2019 Kona Limited before that! VERY ANGRY that a) No more Spare Tire (unless you get the AWD)!!!! and b) Less HP and less MPG than my current 2022 Limited!! 😳 Sadly, as no Hybrid version is scheduled to join the U.S. Kona fleet, my 2024 vehicle (2025 by next October??) will possibly be a Toyota Corolla Cross HYBRID as they may not be as "fancy" as Kona, but the Hybrid kick a**, and are more reliable vehicles. C'mon, Toyotas make the best vehicles -- our 2nd car is a 2023 Camry XLE AWD !!! Loving it!

I had only one Toy some years ago (brand new) but with very low mileage still had a serious brake issue that the dealership could not resolve and I had lost a lot of $ on it. So seriously considering this with Turbo as I Really love the long seemless integrated screen as the new Toy C-HR monitor's placement looks as tho it was an after-thought. And I never liked the Toys using the same interior infrastructure with myriad models over many years and obviously never passing their savings onto their customers.
