Ronstadt wrote three tunes - this, Try Me Again and Winter Light. All three are gorgeous and heartbreaking. She generously shared the credits but by all accounts they were here creations. Just a dreamy woman to listen to.
1976, wow, this is almost revolutionary by American standards. Now in 2010, it's quasi possible to have a song in Spanish and for it to have some form of acceptance. Linda was doing this in 1976, that's really impressive. Thanks Linda, you are a pioneer.
Thank god for You Tube so we can see and share amazing performances like this. If you haven’t watched this entire concert you need to it’s Linda at her best. Her performance of Down So Low is the most powerful, emotional performance of any artist I’ve ever seen.
When I was stationed in Misawa, Japan I dropped a lot of quarters in the juke box to this tune during happy hour at the enlisted man's club in the years 77 and 78. Linda Ronstadt we love you and miss. Hope you are dong fine.
antonio alverez..There's a movie in your post.. A young soldier stationed in Japan, dropping quarters in the Jukebox. . what a memory!! No young person will understand that feeling today unfortunately. My son is stationed in Korea at the moment.
So beautiful, just like Linda. I am sending positive thoughts her way. She is dealing with her diagnosis with such a positive attitude. Vaya con dios, Linda!
This is the B side of Blue byou! I think its a very beautiful song and i wish linda would have sang it more often! She wrote this song and it sounded so good! I think it could have been a hit for her! Its beautiful!❤❤
Such A Sad And Lovely Song And Lament, Sung By The Beautiful Linda Maria Ronstadt, With Much Love For Her Precious Father On His Demise. So Heart Wrenching In Spanish. Love To Hear Her Sing it!
This is such a beautiful song makes me feel emotional. The translation is 👌 definitely more beautifully sung in Spanish. Had to put my head phones on to really capture the whole effect. Linda is gorgeous ..... easily my fav top female artist. I'm inlove with her & her music 💜
I've loved LR and this song since I was a kid and I'm 50 now! Lol. I only started listening to her because my older sister listened to her and I wanted to be like her. I have no idea what she's saying as I don't speak or understand Spanish, but it's just so beautiful.
I love this song so much I learned to play it. The chord progression is not complicated. It's pretty much one chord shape. Sometimes simplicity and perfect pitch are all you need!
I played this beautiful song again after many years. Needed it translated so I looked for the translation and here it is. Makes more sense once I understood it. It makes me feel sad but we all have had this happen to us in life.
Lo Siento Mi Vida (English translation) I'm sorry, my love I'm sorry, my love I know that it's over now Broken hearts The hope that's gone When the moon shines I know you won't sleep Neither you Nor I The sorrow has arrived We always have to be apart
The night you left My poor life changed Sadness filled my soul Thinking about my pain
When the moon shines I know you won't sleep Neither you Nor I The sorrow has arrived We always have to be apart
I wait for the night to pass and turn to day, I can't make this feeling go away, 'cause I get so weak when the day is through and I think of you, I'm gonna see it through
I'm sorry, my love I know that it's over now Broken hearts The hope that's gone When the moon shines I know you won't sleep Neither you Nor I The sorrow has arrived We always have to be apart Always waiting
Been listening to this since the late 70's. Still have my albums, actually found a cabinet for them today so I am rearranging furniture and this popped up on my facebook from a post from a few years ago, you know how facebook does that! Coincidence! I don't speak Spanish but I always feel pulled into sing along. Beautiful work by Linda.
This is on Hasten Down The Wind.. I have the LP, mint, but haven't played my stereo for so long, forgot how beautiful this is, I cld listen to Linda all day long, muy Bonita.
There will never another voice like Linda - beautifully said by her best friend EmmyLou Harris. I love you Linda Ronstadt...From Your biggest Fan in New Zealand.🇳🇿😊👍💕🤗👌💖
This is a lovely song with wonderful harmonies from Andrew Gold and Kenny Edwards. I loved the way they all inter-acted - a true generosity of spirit and acknowledgement of one another's gifts from all of them and it seemed to be always like that with Linda. I just wish she had not taken to singing whole concerts in Spanish!
You didn't have to understand the language Linda was singing in, because her super lovely voice was so wonderful to hear, but I spoke Spanish of the Americas so always enjoyed her well chosen Spanish songs. Thanks for posting this as I have not heard it in many years.
No, it's the sort of thing one discovers when one is a professor of US history, with a concentration on the American West, here in Arizona. You asked a question, & I provided an answer. No more, no less. The Ronstadt family goes back 5 generations in Arizona since Friedrich Ronstadt arrived from Hanover, Germany, as I said previously, before the Mexican War. Linda's brother Pete Ronstadt was the Tucson police chief for 12 years. I could go on, but hopefully you take the point.
If you mean an American of Hispanic descent; yes she is. Here in Arizona there are more than a few families with very long ties to Arizona back even before it was part of the New Mexico Territory ceded to the US after the Mexican War in 1847, who have European names that are not Spanish in origin. "Ronstadt" is just one of them. Some people immigrating from Europe in the 1800s wound up in Latin America, and were there when the border crossed over them. Not the other way around.
Possibly a gift from her then paramour, Gov. Jerry Brown, from about the same era. Both were/are liberals, but how/why the relationship ended, was it mutual, or who "fired" who, I don't remember
No, Steve1861, what the guy (I assume it's a guy) is saying is that the song is awesome (chingona la rola) and that he almost threw his undergarments at her (le aviento el calzon). This is a compliment. For people studying Spanish note the confusion between the letter b and v. In Spanish, b and v represent the same sound.
Respectful German audience...When I saw Linda Ronstadt in Tennessee,. people were hollering and whistling when it got to the quiet part of the song--ruined it for her and those of us trying to listen.
Linda does this very well - must have been a great concert - but she says "for those of you who don't speak English" - yet she is addressing them IN English?
Why are you so angry? Too much information? Good God, all I was trying to do was help you to gain some knowledge. By the way, you didn't just leave a comment about her being Mexican. You used a racial slur akin to calling an African-American person the N-word. If that's how you roll, then fine, but don't act as if I'm somehow the problem here.
My favorite singer since I was 16 yo, I am 64 now, I have to listen to this song and others. She was brilliant and phenomenal, one of a kind.
Me too
You can hear the passion in Linda's beautiful voice for her beloved Mexican father's heritage.
And her heritage.
Ronstadt wrote three tunes - this, Try Me Again and Winter Light. All three are gorgeous and heartbreaking. She generously shared the credits but by all accounts they were here creations. Just a dreamy woman to listen to.
Dreamy is the word indeed

There is a cry in her voice that is beautiful❤ amazing song❤
The first Linda's song I listened, was "Lo siento mi vida",before "Blue Bayou" and "A long long time".It was in Chile .
I sat in the 3 row center at this very concert. Loved every minute of it. This was always a favorite song of mine.

This princess sings like an angel from heaven! What a treasure💜
I have never heard anything like this in my entire life! Linda wrote this song and it's unbelievable!❤
Rest well, Kenny Edwards. Us children of the 70s will NOT forget your contributions to the Cali music scene. You and Andrew Gold were The Bomb!!
Every time I see and hear Linda, I fall in love all over again. And I listen to her a lot.
When I was stationed in Misawa, Japan I dropped a lot of quarters in the juke box to this tune during happy hour at the enlisted man's club in the years 77 and 78. Linda Ronstadt we love you and miss. Hope you are dong fine.

I've never heard this version. It's beautiful,
If they would have let me sing this in Spanish class, I would have taken another year of it.

Such A Sad And Lovely Song And Lament, Sung By The Beautiful Linda Maria Ronstadt, With Much Love For Her Precious Father On His Demise. So Heart Wrenching In Spanish. Love To Hear Her Sing it!
This is a bit rare. This is a song that Linda co-wrote. The only other one I can think of is Winter Light. Also very beautiful. God I love her voice!
This is such a beautiful song makes me feel emotional. The translation is 👌 definitely more beautifully sung in Spanish. Had to put my head phones on to really capture the whole effect. Linda is gorgeous ..... easily my fav top female artist. I'm inlove with her & her music 💜

now I know where her voice is coming from so much passion and beauty
Her voice comes heaven and delivered by angels ❤

Lo Siento Mi Vida (English translation)
I'm sorry, my love
I'm sorry, my love
I know that it's over now
Broken hearts
The hope that's gone
When the moon shines
I know you won't sleep
Neither you
Nor I
The sorrow has arrived
We always have to be apart
The night you left
My poor life changed
Sadness filled my soul
Thinking about my pain
When the moon shines
I know you won't sleep
Neither you
Nor I
The sorrow has arrived
We always have to be apart
I wait for the night to pass and turn to day,
I can't make this feeling go away,
'cause I get so weak when the day is through
and I think of you,
I'm gonna see it through
I'm sorry, my love
I know that it's over now
Broken hearts
The hope that's gone
When the moon shines
I know you won't sleep
Neither you
Nor I
The sorrow has arrived
We always have to be apart
Always waiting
