Spring Jump - Technique of the Week Episode 19 (H5, H2A, H4, HR)

- For this episode we have a very old, but highly requested technique. Spring jumping was originally discovered in Halo Reach by Eklouve and Plasma Napkin. Fast forward to Halo 5 and it still works the exact same way, but is slightly harder due to the higher frame rate.

One of the most fun techniques on Halo. My favorite part of springing is that you can hold it and walk around for a while. props for making a legit tutorial on it though!
I haven't tried this in Halo 5 yet but I think this is going to help a lot with the trick jump map, Trick Jump Galore. I've been having a really hard time on it, right now I'm stuck on what I think is the 6th jump. You kind of go around a corner and have to get onto a high ledge, it's stumped me so far
Still can't get it? Here's the noob friendly method.
First off, I really recommend not sticking to this method as it requires you to play with the Halo 4 control scheme and toggle crouch.
1 - Change your control scheme to Halo 4 and turn on toggle crouch. 'A' will now be jump and 'B' will be crouch.
2- Jump and then hit B while you are still in the air. You should land crouched. (Spring is now loaded.)
3 - Use your thumb to press on both A and B at the exact same time.
As I said above, I recommened learning the method shown in the video so you don't have to switch control scheme every time you want to spring jump.

Do you use toggle crouch?
Oh boi ive tried as much as i could. Ive elite and my crouch is my left upper paddle my jump is my left upper bumper. So, no problem for me of doing this technic. But, i cant make it happen. Im on HJ scheme. Helps me how to time this. I tried on the rig map from cargo box to sniper spawn in slayer. I can not make this jump.
I do this but with fishdick, an elite controller, and toggle crouch off

halo 3 players will recall this is the "crouch jump". used quite commonly for skull collecting in campaign an multiplayer

No, crouch jumping is just crouching before you land on a ledge to bring your feet up, which means you can land on a slightly higher ledge. Spring jumping is landing while crouched, then jumping and uncrouching at the same time to get extra upward momentum and gain extra height - combo that with a crouch jump and it gets you even higher

my friend discovered another way of getting a high jump using thrust, similar to thrusting into a vehicle but this time with objects. he has a dvr recording but I'm not sure how to get you guys to check it out. his gamer tag is : Sam_eg6, he made the recording 18 hours ago
TOASTER K24eg you can thrust slide then use auto stabilize, that's probably the best method for reaching really high spots.
I know that. but my friend got so high he almost hit the ceiling in fathom.

I'd say the best layout for consistent springs would be bumper jumper or fishstick. there are a few really good trickjumpers who use those layouts and they can spring very reliably
