You get what you pay for with Beetles, but the younger you go (maybe even Super) the cheaper they get and the more you can get out of them with projects.
Yeah I sold a total shit one, with no floorboards left and an engine that didnt have any thrust bearings left for $1500. That car was a long.....long way from being drivable. On the other hand, Those EV West Projects are fast and cool as hell.

My father used to beat muscle cars off the line in his VW Super Beetle when he was younger. They did some work to the engine (I think larger cylinder mainly). He said they would catch him after awhile, but off the line, he won

Watch 24hrs of lemons
There is a guy that lives around the corner from me has a full tube chassis metro wagon with a 572ci chevy big block with a 1061 roots blower and a 3 stage nitrous set up. The track mandates he runs a parachute since he runs in the 8's at more than 165mph I don't know his exact trap but that fucking thing shakes car at stop lights. You can barely see the rear end because the tires are so wide, I believe his track tires are over 20 inches wide wrinkle wall slicks. It may just be a fibreglass body over a custom tube chassis but it scoots.
@Sn0w Controller yeah it's a crazy vehicle. The entirety of the blower is above the hood along with the top fuel style butterfly air intake. I love it

The 1998-2002 Grand Prix GTP could definitely be a solid contender too. ZZP offers an endless list of high performance parts paired with the reliability of a 3800 you can't go wrong. @daviedood2503 it really depends on the year. They made over 4 different versions of the 3800 as well. Their is some very cheap upgrades you can do to make these cars last forever. @@XDoGG117 yeah, my first one was a 2003 3800 and the second one was a 2003 Grand Prix white but was the engine model below the 3800. That one lasted one year. The first one had a part recall. My ex drove it parked it in the driveway and poof. A part busted and engine caught fire...almost got her front of the house.
The second one I got for $2,500 bc we had NO CAR at that time. All of a sudden poof. Engine just...stopped. like locked up or something. Sold it for $800 to some guy who parts them out.
