Analord 02 makes me think of an abandoned, haunted Chicago discotheque: the decaying old Rolands just sitting there, unplugged, somehow playing themselves.
i totally agree with you. dirty is the best way i’d describe this song but in the best way possible. it makes me feel like im in a room of flashing lights pretending i’m in a movie scene
This is the perfect song to trip to. This whole side too. walls and faces just melt away...ripple through time and hear colors. You can get lost on and in the beat and wonder if you're gonna come back out on the other side.
I do agree, but stepfilter also blew my mind. I remember as a teenager in 1989? Listening to acid trax by phuture. Still have House Hallucinates on vinyl in my mam and dads place.
This track always makes me think of somebody in a hazmat suit exploring an abandoned nuclear silo with toxic sludge coming down the walls. One of the more visually evocative tracks from the twin imo
Yes, I always imagined some dark dank industrial machine factory. But your imagination of it suits perfectly as well. Some thing remained me of a level in Sonic the Hedgehog too, with the fire and lava.
funny you have such a visual response to this track to me because even tho this is one of my favorite tracks off analord, it doesnt really evoke any mental imagery for me really. maybe just some clouds of white and blueish smoke from the reverbs. a few purple and yellow things here and there too but nothing specific like what you described

Best of his work is his courage to make break in track and then continue like nothing happens. Most of people has problem to keep the line and do not start to fly within track not to even make a break.
9:49 - listening to a FLAC vinyl rip on a way-too-expensive setup last night I noticed for the first time in a thousand listens... hidden behind the noise, what sounds like a kid singing.
Nicely spotted. I just checked mine, the RepHlex WAV doesn't but the record rip I downloaded does - six syllables I hear. You can get the cutting stylus to record voice if you really yell at it but I doubt it is this. I guess the cartridge could have picked something up when ripping it.
@@piynubbunyip I believe the Rephlex WAVs are pre-mastered, so I'd guess it's simply a matter of Richard embellishing a bit for the final release. I don't have a copy of the WAVs, so can I ask you... Does the quiet clippet of Carnival Acid appear in the lull of Bwoon Dub?
This song makes me feel like I am walking through a factory and I am stopping occasionally to watch the industrialization. This song just connects with my soul and opens my mind eye.
Absolutely. Leaves my soma so confused it just resorts to chills. Exactly the same with his remix of "Time to Find Me" by Seefeel, which also manages to contain all moods at once
For me. It only hit me the other night!!!! Think it's because now I make my own music and also study electronics so have a better understanding of it all. idk when I listen to this stuff I can just picture electrons flowing thru old grimey equipment and the crunch of the keys being press etc :-)

This tune could work as background-environmental theme if "House of Leaves" was adapted into a movie (or as a long drawn horror-drama on those countless streaming service programs).
For me I get images of an industrial line producing stuff in a factory. The machinery moving, screwing things, putting then together. Definitely industrial rhythms.
A utopia of only positivity is impossible: positive and negative are two names for the dualism that creates relativity. Sadness can be beautiful. We watch a sad film and deeply savour the sadness. We struggle to do this in our lives due to selfishness only. With no shade, there is no contrast and therefore no light is visible either. The shade is as beautiful as the light. Disentangle beauty and pleasure: they are not the same phenomenon at all. When you view beauty in terms of using it for your own pleasure, in that moment you are blind to beauty. When you can die gladly, you can live gladly. Much of his music, to me, recalls the feeling of being very ill and resting in bed. However, because it's not attached to any story, you can dive into this pure emotion without judging it as 'bad, ill emotions' and saying to yourself, "this is depressing; I'll listen to something cheerful instead".
"Much of his music, to me, recalls the feeling of being very ill and resting in bed." I can definitely relate to that. Specifically songs on the Selected Ambient Works 2 Album like Blue Calx.

After listening to Aphex Twin for almost 30 years, there is still great material to discover. He is king.
