That looks insanely fun! I'm sure electric doesn't have the endurance of gas, but having dealt with boat outboards and lawnmowers anything you have to crank is going to be friggin annoying. I'd much rather just press the accelerator and go! Plus the environmental considerations.
My back yard. I used to ride motorcycles in the LZ when it was a federal superfund garbage dump. So much has changed there. I need to check it out for a new launch site.
Dam, that's hella loud compared to what I was expecting. Can't see this replacing internal combustion yet until batteries get way better. Still cool video and great flying.
4 small props are used to make this unit foldable and thus more convenient to own and operate - I can load mind on the backseat :) That also zeros the torque and reduces efficiency compared to a single prop and also makes it louder. However there is no noise or fumes while 'idling' on the ground waiting for just that right gust for launch. Also no warm up.
@@DavidPackouz 90 would be amazing but even 60 would be a game changer. I mean 60 without pushing the batteries. So 4-5X gravimetric energy density as we have now. I don't predict such a leap soon but I'm hopeful.
That's probably raw gopro mic. Sounds just like mine of course. I fly without hearing protection. Most paramotor video you're hearing a muffled mic so the pilot can talk to you.
Hey David so whats your weight?..and whats the total weight of that unit? I fly a nitro 200 e-start / clutch ..BTW thats my old neighborhood now i live on the west coast Clearwater beach it sucks here for flying areas ..just had major surgery on my shoulder and bicep wont be flying for quite some time ..that dam thing sounds like a quad copter drone lol
It pretty much is a quadcopter! 😂 I'm 180 lbs. With 4 batteries it weighs around 45 lbs and can fly for 20-25 minutes. You can add another 20 lbs of batteries to double the flight time
@@DavidPackouz Thats pretty much what my Nitro weighs I hear that theirs a few elect ready for release this year..it was bound to happen will be interesting to see
Yeah I ran out of power right as I was landing 😅 I sold my unit. I need at least a full hour of flight time, ideally 90 minutes, before I get another electric unit
@@DavidPackouz I do like to ensure I have a go around in case I blow the approach. My field is a soccer field with tall trees on two sides and power lines on a third. I've had my X4 for just over a year (first flight was late Jan 2020). Still pretty satisfying to fly but I do wish the flights were longer. Ordered 4 more batteries to try flying with 8. The SP140 will be close to an hour.
Hello David. I also have an Open PPG in wpb. Need a little help setting up my harness though. Any way I can meet up with you and see the way it should be fully assembled ? JEFF
Okay so this is going to sound strange but I fly paramotors and I used to fly Drones / quad copters..I had from a 4K dollar drone to a 200 when i flew the drones they sounded exactly like your motor. Here is what I'm getting at.. more times then can be considered coincidence's even at 500 to 1000 feet altitude my drones were attacked by bee's you can find videos on youtube that shows this ..I'm just saying could be a bad day
Being afraid of heights (high places) is not the same as being afraid of the altitude. I don't like high places but find I'm really comfortable on a paramotor. It's really not the same at all. I do get anxiety and a bad tummy before I fly. But as soon as the business of aviating takes over, I'm fine.
I'd be like: stop motor, listen to vario, start motor, etc. That what my EPPG is for, finding thermals
I love that when you idle there is NO MOTOR sound. Can’t wait to get one of these
Yeah it's awesome!!

How beautiful Miami was
I can’t believe there’s a part of Miami that big that developers haven’t gobbled up already.
Dam, that's hella loud compared to what I was expecting. Can't see this replacing internal combustion yet until batteries get way better. Still cool video and great flying.
Yeah I would say that once batteries reach a 90 minute flight time most people will switch to electric

Could this still climb or cruise if two engines went down? Would triple bladed props increase the thrust?
I'm not sure... I never tested it
How much is that set up? Looks dope my man.

You're pushing those batteries to 18 minute flights? I've been afraid to go past 12 or 14.

How long does an electric PPG operate for on a full charge?
This unit only flies for about 20 minutes. but there's a single propeller unit coming out soon that will fly for an hour
What batteries are you using? Which harness?
Bonka 22kwh, dudek powerseat comfort
how may iPhones have you dropped, I wonder?

Wow that's really weird. I've never heard of that happening to anyone on openppg yet. But I'll keep it in mind!
