FILM DESCRIPTION:
Paul Rusesabagina (Don Cheadle), a Hutu, manages the Hôtel des Mille Collines and lives a happy life with his Tutsi wife (Sophie Okonedo) and their three children. But when Hutu military forces initiate a campaign of ethnic cleansing against the Tutsi minority, Paul is compelled to allow refugees to take shelter in his hotel. As the U.N. pulls out, Paul must struggle alone to protect the Tutsi refugees in the face of the escalating violence later known as the Rwandan genocide.

Why couldn't they taken them all. There was plenty of room in that truck.
They didn't all have Visas to leave the country. You can't just cross a border, even as a refugee. they have to confirm that you are not a threat yourself.

+Mitch Mazamez19 it had nothing to do with age. it was the same for people of any age. If you couldn't provide a visa, you couldn't cross the border. They need to make sure you have no past history of violence, because even a 90 year old woman can strap a bomb to a car and walk away. Yes, I do believe in extra precautions, for everyone except young children, when people are leaving a country full of war and violence. If you allow the enemy to come into other countries because you didn't do proper checks, then where are people supposed to flee to? the threat will just follow them.
You can't just cross a border, even as a refugee. If only EU would hear about this one...

They can’t do much else or else they get tried for fighting in this war. They had to be neutral even under attack. Did you see the scene where they threw a UN helmet at them

Don Cheadle is a great actor in this movie, but this film is pure fiction. The real Paul Rusesabagina is opportunist who takes advantage of the situation and even the UNAMIR head in Rwanda, Major General Dallaire testified that Paul is forcing hotel guests to pay him if they wanted to be safe. The true hero in this massacre is none other than Paul Kagame himself, leader of RPF and curremt president of Rwanda.
