No sensible person would ever eat a live octopus WHOLE. Morals aside, there's danger involved with attempting that. Their tendrils could stick to a person's throat while swallowing and it can lead to suffocation.

Honestly I'm not sure they were even dead. Chopping them up etc is what kills them (what tends to happen if you chop a living being up) but those were whole animals.... I hope they were dead at least otherwise that wasn't just muscle memory but an animal fighting for survival... disgusting...
