They’re a beast. I worked as a testing engineer for MacDon and ran the only 50 foot prototype. Ran it all across Canada and the US testing it in all kinds of crops and conditions.
I can’t wait to see the 50ft. 😁👍👍
How come macdon didn’t radically redesign the cutter bar?? Adding a little long section with a little different “geometry” just doesn’t suffice for high speed on ground cutting for these new big combines.
Need a redesign more like John Deere - longer stroke and 2 cuts per stroke.
@@jasonhessels A lot of it comes down to who has patents on things. I wouldn't call it radical but the cutting system is completely new from the FD1. Not sure if you've ran an FD2 or not but the cutting system is significantly better than the FD1, I was able to run at 8mph, running a class 10 combine at max throughput with a 50ft in lentils and cutting was no issue. I ran the header in all kinds of different crops and conditions all over the world and the cutting system was never a limitation.
The cutting system has more power than the FD1, no more belts, direct hydraulic drive, knife speed is faster, about 1.5x that of a Deere, and the knife sections are bigger for more cutting surface area. I've never operated a Deere header so I can only comment on what I know of the MacDon and what people that ran my prototype told me compared to other headers they ran and they all liked it.
we continue to enjoy your videos!!!!! you have such a nice variety of older and newer machinery!!!!!
Thank you for watching.
I was wondering why so many farmers use MacDon headers and now I can see why, they look like a great product. Great video
I remember seeing a 36ft MacDon in 2003 up against a 35ft auger head. There was no comparison. It only took a few seasons in my area of Kentucky before MacDon was the only header seen for wheat and soybeans.
Impressive 👍
We cannot ask for any thing more than you provide. Thanks again, Jason. Knowledge is power.
Thank you for watching. I enjoy these fact finding filming opportunities.
I remember the first time I saw a 20ft power flow Massy Ferguson header on a MF 760 demo combine in the late 70s. It was the biggest in the UK at that time,I mistakenly thought that nobody would ever make anything bigger, 🤗🏁
My brother couldn't get a fd 2 series but did find a fd140 very similar but with less flex. Also has the three reel split
1. I wish I had a wheat stand like that 2. I wish I had that combine 3. I wish I had that header (in a 40 ft) 4. I do a lot of wishing
Great video. %0 foot header wow, that is much different from a 13 foot I ran years ago. Thanks for keeping up with all of the new equipment. It is a joy to see.
Excellent interview Jason. Well done and very informative
Thank you for watching. This was a fun filming opportunity.
Must love the Macdon in front of a big Case! Best combo ever
They make a solid harvest team.
Looks deadly..Greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪.....Great videos
Thank you for watching. 😁👍🇮🇪
Well done 👏 MacDon.
👍👍
Jason,
If you are ever up in the Northwest during harvest, you should definitely get some footage of the leveling combines out here.
I’ll post some on my channel lol I farm there
Oh my how the machines changed after 60 years. With a Farmall-H, we pulled a MM bagger Combine powered by a V-4 Air-cooled Wisconsin engine. And no, I do not call them the good old days!
Love this Mac Don head.
👍👍
Awesome machine. And on the perfect combine. Red is the best
thats a good looking header!!! definitely on my Christmas list
...I like that 3rd reel increasing visibility to center of system....
It really opens the feeder house area view from the drivers seat.
Thanks for sharing & good to see the new Draper header in action!
Thank you for watching.
Top film as usual thanks from the UK ,
Love it! The machine will do it’s self!!! ……. Said no REAL FARMER!
Very nice interview😉👍 macdon makes some great headers👍😁
Thank you for watching.
I enjoy the interview style format. Keep up the good work Mr. Power.
Great vid. It is amazing the detail they go through to improve equipment!
I find farm equipment manufacturers listen to their customers experiences to improve.
It's wonderful that this machine can suck in all that wheat and do an efficient job of making sure all the wheat gets harvested and not lost. In the old days all combines did a less than optimal job of ensuring little grain loss in the threshing process.
That newer head looks badass!
It was rolling on very nicely.
45' head on a 410 bushel combine sure makes a nice machine when out in the feild.
It eats up the acres fast.
Massive machine. That combine is like rolling a whole factory over the field. The rabbit at 1:36 did not have a good day, good for getting the heck outta there.
The 9250 is truly a mobile factory on wheels. There were allot of rabbits out in the wheat fields this year.
John David sounds like he's a man of few words, I sure wish my wife was like that. =) Another great video, congrats on #2,000! - Dave
Thank you for watching. John David was great to visit with. The new MacDon is so simple there truthfully is not allot to say about it. It does a nice job.
He’s a true genius
We have the same for Testing in Combination with our Fendt Ideal 10 T here in Eastern Germany.
amazing videos as always what a fantastic header the mac don is wow cheers.
Thank you for watching.
Even with a few design changes, it still seems like the simplest header on the market. Triple reel and all. Still using a 35 foot FD75 draper, does a fantastic job. Only big issue we had with it was the both side draper motors failed... hope they switched motor brands.
The FD75 is a solid header. I have filmed a bunch. What model combine do you run yours with.
@@bigtractorpower CR9070
Sounds like some nice updates.
West Tennessee!!! Representing!
👍👍
Great interview and video. thks for keeping us updated on all the new technology
Thank you. This type of filming opportunity helps me learn for future videos.
This Wheat combine Tractor is one of the reasons that Farmers in countries who are using the modern machines are able to Harvest so much grain and Feed Millions of people. One question I have is with such a wide combine Head is a farmer had more uneven ground than flat I suppose you could not run such a Wide Cutting Head. Enjoyed the video, such impressive farm methods.
It depends on how on even the ground is. These larger heads will flex with contours in the land. If it is steep very on even sharp terrain a smaller head is needed. MacDon FD2s start at 30ft. The company will continue offer a 25ft FD125 for the foreseeable future where smaller headers are needed.
Great Video and Machine!
Interesting! If I heard him right, he said they have a 30, 35, 40, 41, 45 and 50 foot model. Why a 41? Obviously there must be a good reason for two products so close in size.
So you can tell the neighbor with the 40 yours is bigger 😂
@@davidparadis490 LOL
I need to double check but I think the 41 ft is for rice customers.
It’s for farmers that want to have traffic paths at 40 ‘ increments (need one foot for overlap 41’) and then till only on those paths …
(120’ sprayer ) (40’ planter)
That thing is putting alot of loaves of bread through it in half seconds. Awesome
That looks like a real smooth running machine nice job Jason
It is a nice header for sure.
Viewed 7-28-22 from Illinois I would have to choose Mac Don headers
Thank you for watching. The MacDon F2 headers do a nice job. I just posted a video featuring the new F240 header last week harvesting the 2022 wheat crop.
Great awesome video, that header is a monster ,
It is. I can’t wait to see a 50ft.
Great video Jason, I'm looking forward to seeing some of these new FD2's in the field this upcoming 2022 season. I have some friends that are planning on running some next season. Thank you for another great video!
Thank you Stuart. It will be neat to see the FD2 and the 50ft version.
@@bigtractorpower I think my friends will be running the 45 foot version, because that's the size they currently run. With the triple reel standard on the FD245, I'm really excited to see them in action. I don't think they will have the 50 foot version yet, but it might be in their future. Is anyone in your area of Kentucky planning on getting the 50 foot version?
Awesome video as always Jason. Should have holler at me I live in west Tennessee. Awesome combine and head. Macdon is something else big time. Keep them videos coming my friend 🌞👍
Very cool. I hope to get back that way to film again.
@@bigtractorpower when you do let me know would love to meet you and talk farming if you have time.
Impressive 👍
Ran a John Deere 925 on a Case IH 2188 for 10 years. Before that a 220 on a 1480. This fall will be running a John Deere 635 on a Case IH 8010. Stop by Eastern Iowa this fall Jason!
Thank you for the invite. I hope to be in NE IA this fall. What do you like on the green headers? Always neat to see green and red together.
@@bigtractorpower They flex better. I cut side by side withe my neighbors 1020 and I can run about a 1/2 hour lobger at night. And for me a smaller operator it is Waaaaaay cheaper than a draper. There is also a cooperator of Marion Calmer that has a video of a 630 on a 7120. Header losses are within statistical differences of a draper.
Awesome engineering 👍👍
Excellent video! For a minute I thought that was my uncle operating the combine 🤣
👍👍
Congrats on 2K vids!
Thank you.
@@bigtractorpower No problem! If you didn’t recognize me, i am the Kid who made a Wheat Harvest video with a Gleaner R55. You specifically commented on my video “Nice Wheat Harvest, looking forward to Oat Harvest”. But i can’t find the comment unfortunately. I did change my UA-cam name a few times so you probably don’t remember me vut thats ok. The Video I made then was 2 years ago. Im still glad your making awesome videos about Agricultural Equipment videos! Keep up the fantastic work! If your interested, I still do make Farming videos on our family Farm when I visit. Here is my newest update Video if your interested. ua-cam.com/video/QiCjQb9nMG4/v-deo.html
Great video..
Caseih is great combines and all equipment
The 250 series just hum along in wheat and cruise through corn.
Looks like an awesome head. I'm sure they will be coming out soon with a 50' head to keep up with Deere? Not many MacDon headers around me. Thanks Jason! 😊 😁👍
They came out with a 50' with this new series!
He said they have a 50' in the video multiple times.
Yes this FD2 series is 30 to 50ft. Deere introduced a 50ft in 2020 but they were new for 2021. I should be filming a 50ft Deere on an X9 1100 in soybeans this fall.
Very nice Jason. Thanks 🇧🇷
It is fun filming and sharing these machines.
Great video & content as always Jason! That tractor's grill really needs to be blown off. More manufacturers need to put on reversible fans that help keep them cleaner.
Great video looks like a good draper head love to see how it works in beans.
I just filmed a pair of F240s in wheat this past weekend. I will have a video out on those soon. I plan to film them in soybeans this fall.
Impressive video
Thank you for watching.
I always expect to hear Rosco at the finish of the end music
Eso yo trabajé con Farma es muy importante y moline teníamos antes posible dorso es muy bueno

Tratore case l. Fuera de punto deja avía en. Casa derien de punto de y se traba
That side front is pretty standard here in Australia we run up to a 60 foot front
A 60ft head would be neat to see. The wheat here going through the 45ft head is 100 bu or more to the acre. That is allot material to handle. 50ft heads are coming to the market here and I hope to film one this fall in soybeans.
Red Power!
😁👍
wonder if the tractor was not running hot look at the grill
Interested in a 50 ft model. Priced one out and was actually expecting it to be more. 50 ft model is around 125k. I figured they’d be in the 150 to 175 range. Been told in Ohio though … no chance before this fall
that cheap u should have bought 2
What was the ave yield of his wheat? We should be starting wheat harvest up here in Saskatchewan Canada in a couple weeks. Have two fd140 s
Wheat did very well this year. In this region of West Tennesse and Western Kentucky yields were 100 bu or better.
First of all I really like your videos. But being that I’m not a farmer, I am wondering why on some of the grain carts and some of the steer wheels on some of the combines the tires seem to be on backwards. Maybe this is a dumb question, but is there a reason for this? Maybe this has been explained before, but like you said in this video, there’s 2000 more! So it’s easier for me to ask, then it is to read comments on 2000 videos! Thanks for the quality entertainment.
Good question. Some time I need to make a video on these two questions. On grain carts the tires are pointing to the back for a better ride and less wear on the road. Also if the cart gets buried in the mud the treads are pointing to the way out. Grain carts wheels are not powered so having the tread pointing the other way helps all around.
Combines that have the rear tires turned around are 2wd models. Combines with forward facing read tires are equipped with 4wd.
Love watching all these videos. Notice the wild life at 1:35?
Thank you for watching. There were lots of rabbits in this years wheat harvest.
I would rather use the Flex Draper the cost is well worth it
Strikes me that with the headers getting larger and more efficient, even more pressure is being placed on the grain cart operator to remain at peak efficiency.
Which is why bigger and bigger tanks and bigger and bigger carts are being made
This is on the farm I work at
Longer header = lower speed of the machine?
I’m from west Tennessee. What area is this?
Dyersberg.
Vidio top .👍🇧🇷🇧🇷
Thank you for watching.
It’s nice but I have to many Terraces to run that much header.
Awesome video like the triple reel, looks like they took some ideas from the Canadian Bee header, nice outfit 😎
Why are their cracks in the field?
Those are drains cut in the field to help water run off.
So does the 2 bigger headers require the extra lift power on the feeder house?
I am not sure but because of their size I would think there is some additional input.
Where can I get 8 of each? To take off my 40 bushel an acre wheat!
What's wheat cutting acre
In this region normally 90 bu or better.
Man I hate doing 45 and 50 footers. 41 is fine
This CIH 9250 must cost a pretty penny
wow
Thank you for watching.
Hello! UA-cam is always messing with notifications and subscription!
Oh no. What’s happening? Not notifying you?
@@bigtractorpower Since several months, it constantly happens with many channels! Although, I always redo everything.
Did he say they have a 41' header what is 1 foot going to accomplish???🤔
The 41 is rice.
I bet that old boy has a big problem when he gets plugged up .how much is the weight of the head and the prize of cart.
They are out on the market now?
There are a few out. 2022 will see full production.
What do you use to film
I was Cannon Vixa cameras and go pros. Some times my IPhone. A Mavic was used for the drone views.
Does this new header fold up or around to move it?
Pretty sure they tow it like a trailer.
It does not fold. It is moved on a header wagon.
Oh that looks so weird with _two_ reel splits...
It does, but it makes sense... adds a little more to the header parts-wise but probably more structurally sound and better performance.
@@farming4g I assumed it was just to make it more flexible
More visibility at the feeder house and lots more flex.
I guess we bought to early. We got a new fd140 coming this fall.
You need to call me when your in the market I will give you the inside scoop 😉
We will have to. It really sounds nice with some of the updated features.
What farm was that at?
Our farm, Childress Farms in Bogota, TN
✌️✌️✌️
😁👍👍
The reels aren't even in height when you look at it from the front, one side running higher than the other
They are designed to do that so that the reel can flex with the header as well!
13m71
35' FD 75
Very nice. What type of combine do you run it with ?
@@bigtractorpower jd 9770
Let’s see if I know my stuff
The FD means FlexDraper
The 2 means 2 flex points?
And the 45 is the length.
Idk if I got the 2 correct but who knows
The 2, as in 2-series, means a sequel to FD1. One of those decision made by marketing. I think it is to align the series number to the rest of MD products.
Have I been saying it wrong, I call them Mac-Don instead of McDon
You’re saying it correct.
✌️🇧🇷✌️
😁👍
Ohe fast your runnig ?
He was at 3.5 to 5 mph. There were several drainage cuts in the field to cross on each pass.
👏👏👏👍👍👍🚜🚜🚜🇧🇷🇧🇷
I think it's pronounced mack-don not mick-don
Unfortunately because of my accent my annunciation of MacDon and Axial-Flow does not come across in the video as I would like it. Harvest store Silo is another one that does not come across as I would like it in videos.
Maaacdon. Not mcdon
Just so you can harvest more and get paid less.
Actually not really as wheat in my area is $6.89/bushel which pretty good for wheat
