I think the idea is through being born again, being obedient to the Word and truly loving God with all our heart- our prayers become his will, therefore become answered; and in that answering we see the power of God. And believe even more. In which helps us work out our salvation. God has a reason for everything- including prayers which when they align with his will- will be answered.

Sometimes when men try to put God in a box and try to explain according to the box they have drawn , they have to come up with some contrived logic to explain their theory. There are numerous passages that clearly teaches (not just narrative) where the Lord is seen as relenting ( Jeremiah 18: 1 to 11 is a classic example) . The one example that Bro. RC gives is the Oracle of Balaam (Numbers 23:19) and as we all know was from a false prophet. Even though there are truths in that Oracle, there are clearly inconsistencies in Balaam’s Oracle ( like Num 23:21 - He has not observed iniquity in Jacob..)
It is all right to state that it is difficult to understand some verses instead of trying to fit the Almighty into some human understanding. The whole teaching of sovereignty of the Lord as the Reformed theologians teach which goes beyond what scriptures teaches is most probably an error - the Lord is sovereign and in His sovereignty, He has placed prayer and faith as an instrument through which He acts- who is man to say that the Lord does not do that?

So God tells to pray but at the same time He doesn’t pay attention to our prayers. Sproul mentioned that we are having a dialogue with God but the way he explained it suggests more of a monologue because prayer is worthless. Then when he explains the issue of God changing His will he explains that “here He means one thing but there on the other side he meant something else. It sound like if God is speaking out of both sides of His mouth. I can understand figures of speech in the Bible like allegory, similes and so many others but I se here a tendency to twist the words to accommodate to their doctrines of predestination, God’s sovereignty, our inability to make decisions (free will), etc.. I will call that deception. I also see others trying to explain things in the comments do the same thing. They are very “wordy” and their explanations tend to drown in a sea of words that causes more confusion that shed light like a commenter was saying that now he is more confused with the explanation. Calvinists have this ability to answer questions with so much philosophy intertwined with logic and doctrine together that many times it loses its meaning. Just my two cents.

Hi brother just a thought from me. I believe our prayer cannot change God's will, for His will is eternal. If our prayer can change God's will, that make His will is not eternal.
If we look from the cause and effect, it sure look like many times the prayer can change the situation but at the end God's will be done.
We also need to be careful, we cannot just take out a portion of scripture and interpret it as how it is written for this is just like the work of enemy, the third temptation of that satan tried on Jesus.
When thing doesn't change, can we say because we didn't pray good enough or we lack of faith? Absolutely cannot. Ultimately is God's will be done.
Look at how Jesus pray and the prayer He teach us. Then you will understand. May God continue to draw us closer to Him everyday.

And if you question the con being perpetrated, it's your fault because your faith is weak or you are being tested. It's a con.

It is indeed for our benefit, and God indeed has decreed what will happen such that our prayers will not change his decree. We also know that God not only determines the outcome, but the means to that outcome. So is God only the First Cause and we the second cause? Inasmuch as he became Incarnate, he has assumed a role as second cause as well as first cause. In this way, not only is he efficacious as the First Cause, but he is visibly efficacious as a second cause. This serves to reveal God to us. In prayer, not only do we get some spiritual benefit, but we participate in God's decree as a cooperative second cause with God, and we see his work among us in a tangible way. In sum, God responds to our prayers, but not in any way contrary to his eternal and particular decrees.

Great question but it's still unanswered. It doesn't really give an answer to the question. Why do people think that God answers prayers? Does God answer certain people's prayers and not answer other certain people's prayers? Is the answered prayer based on pure luck or based on your merits?
If God does not actually answer prayers then when you pray you cannot pray for a good day or a safe drive or a safe flight or to bless food or to seek wisdom or to heal sickness.
I've seen people who have self-inflicted illness who get transplants and I see people who have illness due to no fault of their own be turned down or transplants.... One believes it's a prayer answered and the other believes it's a prayer unanswered.

For example, I might pray for a loved one who has already passed away and ask God to have mercy upon them and to cover them with His grace and grant them repentance. Back when they were alive, God knew what I would pray after their earthly life was spent. Of course, I would have also prayed the same while they were still alive. Forgive my mind being slow just now-I can't recall my better examples, but I think the gist is clear.

If you are a new born christian, you have a relationship with God. You talk to Him in prayer, you can present your personal needs and cares before Him, but you need to always ask Him to do His will in the situation and accept His decision. He is Good, He loves you, He will choose the best for you. That doesn't mean you will like the answer necessarilly.
Also, as Jesus instructed us: we need to deny ourselves (don't do as we want), and carry our cross (to crucify our carnality, private agendas, desires) so that He can truly govern us as needs to be. We need to empty our "vase" for Him to fill us up with His Spirit. Our lives do not belong to us any more, we belong to Him. He is the Head, we are the body. He leads, we follow. We must acknowledge His authority over our lives in everything. Small and big. That's what true christianity is about. Be alert, attentive to His instructions to your personal life. He will disclose His plans to each of us as we seek Him. We hear and obey His instructions and leadership.

I will try to not misrepresent what I am about to write, but it is the way I understand it...Basically, there are many ways for God's will to be done. We think in binary, that is, what God does is either this or that. But suppose God decides to (a) answer your prayer or (b) do something else that He had decided to do contrary to your prayer?
Would it change at all the outcome? No, not at all. Both choices, (a) or (b) would still fulfill God's will. Therefore, when we pray, we CAN and DO change God's mind. But ALL possible things that God could or would do are all God's will. God isn't changing His mind when He answers a prayer or changes the course of our history. He is simply allowing a different outcome to then become part of the big picture of His work. That is why Romans 8:28 says what it does...ALL things work together for good...

@@mickaelp3087 + The Lord Jesus taught us to persevere in prayer, in the Scriptures we have promises, which we as sons and daughters can bring up before His Throne in prayer. Yet, since He is God He knows what's coming, the future and He alone can decide to give life or to "pick up" His children and bring them to Himself. As a mother, one wants our children to live. Yet if God knows that the child will lose his soul if he grows up, He can decide that the child dies. We can misuse His anointing and power, commanding the sickness to leave, but the end result will be bad. We always need to pray, be bold in faith, but always let Him have the last word and accept His decision.
We shouldn't use the Scriptures as a "manual" (it would be a witchcraft manual). Any prayer that the Lord does not approve of, is witchcraft.

The God of the Bible tells us that in humble prayer we can change his mind. This is grace, God's acceptance of us as his beloved people, and granting the privilege and the consequent enablement of the power of the Holy Spirit. R.C. Sproul, like other theologians of his kind, reads Scripture with the Greek lenses and conception of God. Their position about prayer and human responsibility do not align with Scriptures. That is why they separate gospel from their secular lives.
Prayer does not just move God, it changes the heart of God. By this I mean the God of the Bible and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faith is human action in bringing down God's rule on earth. We move the heart of God through prayer of faith.

Deuteronomy 23 does not teach that God cannot repent. Deuteronomy 23 shows God saying he wouldn’t repent and curse Israel, because he found no fault in them. Then, in chapter 25, he finds them sinning and curses them. In other words, he repents of the very thing he said he would not repent of. Why? Because their behavior changed. Deuteronomy 23-25 actually proves man’s behavior can and does cause God to repent.

There is something called "embezzlement" of Holy Anointing: using God's power to do our own carnal will. God is Just and we will be judged by our actions. Don't think that the Just Judge will blink His eyes and not punish us for embezzling His power doing the devil's work with God's power. A dialogue is a conversation between 2 or more people. Prayer is, at best, a monologue between the person praying and a god whose existence is unfalsifiable. Prayer is probably best described as a soliloquy and that is where the true therapeutic benefit lies. When one articulates thought, one can determine the best course of action to take when addressing an issue.

⭐⭐⭐ JESUS IS COMING VERY VERY VERY SOON!🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺
The return of Jesus is at hand!
JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY TO HEAVEN!
    📖 John 14:6 says,
" Jesus says, 'I AM THE WAY THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE. NO ONE COMES UNTO THE FATHER (in Heaven) BUT BY ME'.
JESUS CHRIST is the only, true way to Salvation! It’s the free gift of GOD to all those who believe and trust Him!
SALVATION! is the redemption of one’s soul from eternal destruction after death of man, on this earth, by the cleansing of the blood, and by the death and power of resurrection of Jesus Christ
    📖Acts.4:12 says.
Salvation is found in no one else (except Jesus Christ), for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved."
How is SALVATION gifted to man?
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.
    📖John 3:3 says,
Jesus answered and said to him, Truly, truly, I say to you, Except a man be Born Again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
How can a man be BORN-AGAIN?
To be Born-Again in spiritual sense, is to die to our old sinful nature and be born-again in the spirit, to be holy, righteous with a new nature in Christ Jesus.
👉To be born-again, we need to repent & confess our sinful past for a holy future.
    What is repentance?
👉 REPENTANCE! Everyone born into this world is a Born-sinner. Human nature is a sinful nature. Sin in us has defiled us and has separated us from the Holy God!
We have to repent for all the unholy, lawless transgressions of God’s commandments done willfully or unknowingly, in order to obtain mercy and grace so that we might not be judged and fall into condemnation, the condemnation of eternal hell.
📖 Acts.3:19 says,..✔️Repent, then, and turn to GOD, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the LORD
    What is confession of sins?
👉 CONFESSION! The guilt of sin and it’s condemnation is rolled away if one truly regrets his sinful past and confesses them in the presence of Jesus Christ.
    📖Romans.10:9 &10
✔️That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.
    📖 1 John, 1st chapter & verse 9 says..
✔️If we confess our sins, He (Jesus Christ) is faithful and just to forgive us our sins(every sin)...
The sole purpose of sending Jesus Christ into this world more than 2020 ago is this👇
    📖John.3:16-17 says "
👉 GOD so loved the world (us) that He (Father GOD) gave His only begotten Son to die for us ( our redemption ), that whosoever believes in Him (Jesus) should not perish (in hell) but have everlasting life.
👉 GOD has not sent His Son to condemn the world (us), but the world (we) through Him (Jesus Christ) might be saved.

So the inerrant Word of God leads us to believe that God changes His mind, but He really doesn't. It only seemed so to those backward witnesses who recorded the Word at His dictation? Yeah, that clears it all up. Apparently, sometimes the Bible just plain lies to us.

Nothing in words is complete. Words are assigned values of sound to conscious thought and one's voice whether silently heard or heard aloud, is one's power of intention... It is to be no more one of the herd, but one who is heard. Isaiah 58:9 "Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity; 10 And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noonday: 11 And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not."

To follow after charity is to pay it forward and then to seek presence not presents... Anyway, as with a spiritual approach, if the answer is to look inwards, then look in words as well. HERE is A KEY to the CAR MEN. HERE is AQUI as AQUI is HERE, yet they with the EAR to HEAR will HEAR A KEY. Mark 4:24
“And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.” I am GIVEN this stuff, and stuffed with this stuff, as I am FORGIVEN I am FOR GIVIN', and as I GIVE, all the more am I GIVEN. Who do you really follow?
Scriptures tells us to follow the example of our Messiah:
1Pe 2:21 For to this you were called, because Messiah also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps,
Followers of Jesus, the Greek Messiah:
Pagan Names For the Father and Son(Lord/Jesus); Sunday rest; Pagan feasts of Easter and Christmas; popes; nuns; holy water; sacraments; or any separation of Messiah’s body into a “priesthood” and “laity”; eat pork(unclean foods).
    (None found In the Scripture)
Followers of Yahusha, the Hebrew Messiah:
Call the Father a Son by the Sacred Name Yahuah and Yahusha; 7th day Sabbath rest; Keep the Torah and Scriptural feasts of Lev 23; eat Kosher; circumcised and wear Tzitzits.
    (all found in the Scripture)
Do you follow the belief ABOUT the Messiah or OF the Messiah?
In other words, if you follow Jesus, you received the one who came in his own name:
Joh 5:43 “I have come in My Father’s Name and you do not receive Me, if another comes in his own name, him you would receive.
But if you Follow Messiah Yahusha, you will love Him and guard His Commands:
Joh 14:15 “If you love Me, you shall guard My commands.
You are of the one you obey:
Rom 6:16 Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves servants for obedience, you are servants of the one whom you obey, whether of sin to death, or of obedience to righteousness?
The error of the Christian church who believes they are the new chosen and replaced the Jews/Yahudim, here is our Father's answer to that:
Rev 2:9 “I know your works, and pressure, and poverty - yet you are rich - and the blasphemy of those who say they are Yahuḏim and are not, but are a congregation of Satan.

There are dozens of passages in the OT where people, like Moses, clearly influence what God does and even what He thinks. Sproul and other Calvinists just dismiss the plain meaning of all these texts, in favor of a classical theology that came from the pagan Greeks thru Augustine to Calvin.
