In the testimony of all four officers, I hear not only the impact of the terrible violence, but something deeper. I hear the shock of being attacked by fellow citizens claiming to love their country. They thought they would be killed by this mob, and would have died defending the capital. It seems the heartbreak of that reality is just as relevant to the obvious symptoms of PTSD, as the physical injuries and lived experiences of that terrible day. I think it broke their hearts more than their bodies. This changed them, but I see resiliency in all of them....may they heal in time.

I first met Officer Hodges two or three years ago, when he regularly patrolled my DC neighborhood. First and foremost, he protects, serves, and treats people with dignity. In the encounters I've had with him, I've found him to be a solid guy and a great cop. He looked incredibly young for the job when I first met him, but he's aged a lot since January 6th. The beatings and the concussion he suffered have robbed him of his youthful looks. We owe the police who defended the Capitol that day exactly what we owe our veterans: our freedom.
He got cared that mean more then cops who died in peaceful protests
