- DC Metropolitan Police Officer Daniel Hodges delivers his opening statement before the House committee created to investigate the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.
Officer Hodges: "At this point, I knew I couldn't sustain much more damage and remain upright. At best, I would collapse and be a liability to my colleagues. At worst, be dragged out into the crowd and lynched."

I wasn't able to sit down and watch but, I listened to the Jan 6th committee members and witnesses while working. I am proud of the two Rs and I am ashame of the rest of the party leadership. I am glad I resigned from the party as It became a cult under the empty suits' leadership. The officers testimonies, put a lump in my throat and tears to my eyes of how low America has sunk under a party that once was an example of morals and ethics. It's over. May the path to the doorstep of Trump and his cult be swift with results of accountability by law and order.

@@petemoss8245 I had been a Republican for most of my life, and even now, when talking about policy, you and I probably agree on much. That said, the Republican party has lost its way. I'm not saying the Democrats are good by any means, but I'm having trouble finding Republicans who are trustworthy. I've seen how Jim Jordan conducts meetings and he is not there to be contemplative and thoughtful - he's there to be partisan. Given how many Republicans supported Trump even after trying to undermine our democracy, I can see how it would be hard to find quality Republicans who can offer a measured hand in this. (One more thing, I was not a "Never Trumper" - I had read two of his books. But anytime someone goes against those on the right, the right tries to discredit them by saying they are a Never Trumper or RINO.)

I wonder how people in America who spoke out in favour of the 9/11 terrorist attacks or in favour of Timothy McVeigh are rightly and correctly thought of by their fellow citizens? In what way are you really any different.
They did the best they could as Capital Police. They aren't riot police. Why the call for riot police wasn't made, it's unclear. The question is, who is supposed to make that call there? This is uncharted territory.
