Love your work guys! is the security immobiliser removal a simple process? I've started collecting things and preparing my 93 GQ for the swap. Was just going to plop the stock standard 4j in at the start just to get it all going and would ideally not have to try and swap key barrels or anything like that.
The key barrel actually fits up to the GQ column quite well. Also the indicator stalks and the plastic surround. That way you have an immobiliser and central locking
@@thisandthat8687 All depends what route you want to go. I got a complete wreck and swapped in the entire wiring from the dmax. Both fuse boxes, ign barrel, gauge cluster, indicator stalk assembly, even the hvac controls and clock etc. Their plug in loom looks the goods but you will need a Holden ecu and wiring loom. And not sure how that would work with the gq dash.

I’m not a huge fan of the Colorado cluster, honestly I was more looking at doing an OBD2 reading Haltech dash personally. I haven’t cross referenced wiring diagrams but I doubt it’d be possible to run the GQ dash off the 4j loom personally. I think the pre-terminated loom is a good idea for just simply wanting to get the motor in there and for someone like myself that doesn’t quite plan to go to the extent you have. Plus because I’ve got the wreck I’ll have the Colorado ecu ect.
Gday, The 4.5L will always make the power and torque easier, the 4.5L is a brand new engine also. The 4jj1 is a much cheaper conversion and uses a used engine. The defining factor for what you choose is really budget/personal prefrence. Both are awesome engines

@@Gazzr92 Nope -TCM unit inside tranny and U need GM CANbus adapter to talk to it. But these dmax engines was in colorado- maybe they already have 6l90 as OEM setup. Don' know much about holden models. If no -it will be tricky to pair them

Been waiting for this for ages. The zd30 GU platform definitely seems the most user friendly. Are you going to run the exhaust over the engine and down the passenger side? Have you done a GQ yet? I used the Isuzu gbox in my swap and I doubt the engine would fit under the bonnet using your kit unless you put a body lift in.
Did you mean to say they fit a GQ without a body lift? And still get the exhaust down the drivers side? And that elbow on the throttle body fits under the bonnet on a GQ?
@@adventurecorp I just checked on mine and can't see a 3" exhaust fitting past the front drive shaft at full compression. Unless you space out the bump stops. I notched the trans tunnel and went up next to the top of the gbox. But that probably wouldn't be possible either using the patrol box. Can you get some decent footage of where the exhaust is routed as I'm sure it would be very helpful to anyone fitting your kit.
Hey mate, Just the delphi ecu we use. You use the factory patrol cluster and patrol sensors and patrol wiring for them, our 4j body loom has the tacho output, a tacho converter needs to be wired in for rpm to work
Nice work. Makes sense why you didn't mention the dmax for a source of engines. Might want to make that a little clearer to potential customers. So what part of the "holden" body loom that also plugs into the ecu needs to be plugged in or can that connector be left off? Which patrol sensors need to be added to the 4j and are they a straight swap in and plug into the 4j loom?
@@bennyjahmin3953 the only sensors you need are the ones for the dash, oil pressure, coolant temp, cut them wires from the factory patrol loom and re run them on the 4jj1 and "t" them into the factory 4j sensors. You dont use any part of the factory 4j body loom, its replaced with our conversion body loom

As I imagine most people sourcing second hand motors will be getting them from the later model dmax's. If you get a post 2012 4jj1 what needs to be done for your wiring kit to work?
As this is a bang for buck conversion many just use good used engjnes. But theres no reason why you couldnt reco an engine before use. Yes, 250hp at the wheels

What would be good if it is possible. Fabricate a bracket and wiring adapter to relocate the alternator higher up in the engine bay.

The exhaust fits down the drivers side pretty easily!
They also easily fit in a GU with a heap of room to spare without a bodylift.
