- In this episode of Travelogue, Tianran He travels to Qingdao on China’s east coast. A former German concession, it’s home to grand colonial-era villas and the world famous Tsingtao Beer Brewery. It’s also the country’s sailing capital and one of China’s most livable cities with a refreshing mix of progress and heritage.
Travelogue is a 30-minute features program on CGTN that takes viewers on unforgettable adventures across China. It airs on Sundays at 7:30am and 4:30pm BJT (00:30 & 09:30 GMT), with rebroadcasts on Mondays at 2:00am (Sunday 19:00 GMT) and Thursdays at 1:30pm (06:30 GMT).

Of all the cities on the Chinese mainland, Qingdao is my favourite and I’m proud to call it my home.

People are friendly and polite there. Lots of history and a lot to see. You will love the place.
Lived there for a year. Lovely city and people. Very modern, and a very chilled place. And the locals are very proud to call this home.

Where's the Formula One Racing, I still think the Germans have more invested here than in Qingdao they're just overspread. It's way better to stay put in the city and let the locals go about there economy instead of running the gov't from behind the scenes creating so many nurses and dumping them in the US and other former British colonies. Qingdao will never get the elite Germans that have no other path but go to college to be productive, like Dubai Palm Islands without sophisticated people with complicated lifestyle that do real work and innovation in the economy the term rich people holds no weight and thus those Island will never be filled. Same goes for those old colonial houses their are more extravagant houses here than those old things, and unless for dignitary purposes no one is going to live and maintain those houses. Having this people with the skill and technical knowhow to organize Boat and Formula One racing is very good for the interaction with the local craftsmen and men at work and having college people from well know schools and universities encourages this type of events and the gathering of skilled people. There not going to preform for some farmers. The last thing you want are fake millionaires that are weak and dying but have this yacht and it makes them look cool and control the economy only because the locals are so poor and divided. Get the young Germans into the city and let them live their fantasy life in a University just stay in the City so that Germany's resources will be focus and its good for the the local economy and the Germans. This Germans are pampered and are not like those flea-scurvy weed crazy sailors of old they will never go out of the city and cause trouble in surrounding areas because they simply have no desire to subjugate and become landlords like the old generations that are just too old to move and are just probably busy plotting in their one of their Nobel Prize Sessions. Make the place vibrant with Formula One and Boat Sports Sailing Events with German and other European students as spectators. The goofing Europeans are just about the people you can expect from this to last because eventually Shanghai will not take this down face laying and they will eventually exert control because they are an industrial powerhouse. Shanghai Government and its Companies and Corporations will eventually exert its authority over the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and together with Beijing and Shenzhen and other rich big cities that has so many men at work scheme their corporate mercantile strategy and targets.

So many memories left here in qingdao..I stay here for a year although I'm in changchun now..ahh I miss to go back to qingdao..beautiful city with great friends there...I miss everything ...我很想念青岛的时光
We live in a house from the same time period here in Germany, built 1900. Qingdao was also the port for SMS Emdens famous mission.

Tsingtao beer is still my worldclass number 1 beer, easy to drink and tasty when it's hot outside.
It's a pity I it's difficult to buy in the Netherlands.

Tsingtao should always be seen as a German-Chinese friendship and solidarity. Some friendships or love relationships have a difficult beginning, but in the end the truth of deep love will always prevail.

while, of course, colonization is never a good thing, the german Tsingtao/Qingdao Colony was actually one of the most developed in the world and brought a lot of Technology and Ideas to China

Love this place!
What a great video, informative and covers many Qingdao locations. But you brushed over the Military Museum with it's old war ships, guns, aircraft and hover craft, a pity because it makes for an interesting day. You also missed out on the Qingdao CBD building lights which is just amazing when all the city buildings become alive with color and movement. It attracts hundreds of people and has a great party atmosphere. There are many other spots missed like the Qingdao Beer Festival, amazing, perhaps your time in Qingdao was limited but still a great video.

I really miss my beautiful city and home in Qingdao so much. Even after moving to Qingdao in 2001, it remains my true home where I had to leave my life and my heart. After being gone only a few months, i can’t wait to return and hopefully find work again soon!
Never once in the video did they visit May 4th square at night or shandong road / CBD plaza at night.
