Researchers from Land of the Leopard National Park have identified the largest Amur tiger living in the park. It turned out to be a giant beast, designated T38, who had previously impressed scientists not only with his size, but also with the longest recorded movement of any tiger in the park during the entire history of camera trap monitoring
This record-breaking striped cat was first spotted by a camera trap in 2015 in the very south of the national park, near the border with China. Seven years ago, his build didn't stand out much from the other tigers.
The second time, just 1.5 months later, T38 was spotted much further north - 116 kilometers from the point of the first registration in a straight line, which indicates that the tiger must have traveled a much greater distance. Over the years, this record remained unbroken.
Currently (2022), tiger T38 lives in the northern part of the national park. He is a male in his prime - about nine years old - and his "domain" covers a significant territory of hundreds of square kilometers. And while ultra-long wanderings at speed are a thing of the past for this tiger, now he impresses with his impressive size, visually exceeding the parameters of other tigers in the national park. This can be seen with the naked eye when analyzing photographs of T38 taken over the past two years.
Land of the Leopard National Park, this is northern part of the habitat of Amur tigers.
According to experts, in the first half of the 20th century, when the Amur tiger population was declining due to human activity, the weight of this predator was greater.
There are several explanations for this, including the population going through a "bottleneck," where genetic diversity declines due to a critical decline in numbers, as well as a negative selection scenario where the largest, most aggressive, and "self-confident" individuals were eliminated from the population as a result of encounters with humans.
Scientists suggest that as the population grows under favorable conditions, the percentage of large individuals may increase.

@@alkebulanlion6198 You have obviously never seen a giant Kodiak or Grizzly bear. They not only outweigh any tiger by two to three times, but they also have much larger claws and much stronger bite-force. Use common-sense, not nonsense. Between 2019 and 2022, the Russian rangers in those Siberian protected parks reported 44 cases of tiger/brown bear confrontations where tigers survived only in 12 cases all of which involved juvenile bears. Tigers died in the rest of them. NOT ONE case showed tiger surviving against giant adult brown bears. Tigers only attack bears out of desperation when they can't hunt their regular preys. Tigers are quite smart, they don't get involved in stupid fights which risks getting hurt, because they are solo-hunters and getting hurt means no hunting and no food.

@@classicmoviez3909 maybe, but tigers especially Siberian tigers usually appear bigger than their actual weight due to their robust look, loose skin and belly fat, an experiment was done sometimes ago by wildlife experts with 23 Siberian tigers and 15 Bengal tigers, the Siberians look and appear bigger than Bengal, people guessed their weights, and the least they predicted for the Siberians was 500 ibs, only 4 weighed more than 500ibs, some were barely 400, Bengal on the other hand despite their small appearances outweighed their cousins by far, did you know national geographic have ranked Bengal as the biggest cat followed by African lion while Siberian tigers take the 3rd place? You don't believe? Look it up on their site

There is a captive Siberian tiger in the state I live in, and he's 700-800 pounds (320-350 kg), and the tiger in this video looks much bigger and more powerfully built. I'd bet 900 lbs (420 kg) range. I hope he sires many cubs. That's a very important specimen in the park.

The bear that appears at 00:53 is also large, almost the size of Kodiak Bart (one of the largest Kodiaks ever). The tiger stands farthest and at the same time he does not stand at full height, you can see that his hock joint is actually in a horizontal position, if it were in a vertical position the tiger would be much taller, but the tiger is still taller than this huge bear even in this position.

So if we pick 1000 biggest cats in the world, most of them will be Siberian and Bengal tigers, some of them will be Barbary and African male lions. Usually a bigger cat beats a smaller one in a fight to death with no escape, no matter if it's a lion or tiger.
