Love your videos. I've had our Panther, Gizmo for almost a year. He was a year when we got him from the breeder store. Love your videos. Helped me so much. I'm totally in love with Gizmo. He was my dream pet for over 20 years. Glad I waited because we didn't have all the UA-cam and the great chameleon FB pages.
We just got our 3 month male panther last night. (Roonie) So glad we watched all of your videos and learned so much to properly care for him. He's doing great. Eating and drinking fine in his new enclosure. We took about a week to get his enclosure set up properly. Thanks so much for your videos.
Clyde came home a few days ago i have been watching out for any of these. Im glad i found your video. Thank you. She is showing none of these signs. :) puts me at rest.
AMAZING animal: another sign that nature is one of the greatest gifts. GI find it gorgeous when it changes to a happier color. Thank you for explaining and let us know more about this animal that many don't know much about. Angela, Italy :)
How long does it typically take for them to get acclimated to a new environment? I got my girl about 3 weeks ago and she's been dark pretty much since I brought her home. Everything is set up right, she has the right supplements and I switched out all of the fake plants she came with for real ones
I know this is an older video, but I just picked up a baby Veiled Chameleon. He's been here for 1 night. I know I need more foliage to make him feel secure, but what can I do to help him until
I have 2 chameleons that were housed together at the place I got them. I house them together at home, they seem to like each other, the enclosure has tons of places to hide, and a misting system. What is the solution if they hiss every time you want to get them out? There’s no reason for them to be stressed & I always feed them, so they know me. 🙃😭😔
How big is your enclosure? Being kept together would be one of the biggest causes of stress. It's exactly why it's recommended to house them separately and make sure they can't see each other. Chameleons are solitary animals and do not live together in the wild. They will each have their own territories. My suggestion would be to make sure you have two 24x24x48" tall enclosures and provide a visual barrier between the two.
I'm not sure what to do with my chameleon right now? I recently got him and got him in an enclosure to put him in and he continuously turns this Greyish panther pattern on him and I keep my room close so it's quiet and there is no sight of any animals near by so it's just him and a quiet room and for some reason he's still turns that grayish color. I would like to put out there that he did turn bright regular green yesterday when me or my mom didn't continuously like watch him
Human interaction is a potential cause of stress. If you’re cham isn’t showing any of the signs of stress around you, then you’re totally fine. If they are, then you’d have to consider that you might be the reason. Glad you have a chill cham 👍
I NEED HELP!! She did not want to go back in her enclosure. It’s always a hassle to get her back in because I don’t want to force her to go. She loves coming out and just sitting on the top of my hat for hours as I just do things through out my day. So it takes like 5-10 mins to get her back in. So today she stood on her back legs to transfer and she slipped off my hand. And I caught her but it was rough. ROUGH . I didn’t clutch or grab I just caught her with one hand and closed. Over simultaneously. She has NEVER hissed at me and gaped before and I’m freaking out . I hate to say I’m a 29 year old man and I’m crying right now. I’ve been sitting with her for about an hour now with her inside her enclosure . What do I do!? She’s not hurt I think it just scared the hell out of both of us.
I would give her time alone for a bit and consider giving her a plant or tree to hang out on instead of your hat. Also be sure to limit her time outside of her enclosure so that she is still able to get plenty of UVB. Or you could try taking her outside for natural UVB.
Great info! I've watched a TON of your videos the last week or so and between you and Chameleon Academy the information has been absolutely invaluable, so thank you! Just a note: I was watching this on my TV with a sound system and had to change it over to my computer. You've got some strange 'WUMP WUMP' noises going on in your audio that makes it nearly unwatchable with augmented sound. It's the same with headphones too, which I just checked. Not sure what it is but thought I should let you know.
Love your videos, looking for some advice from a fellow cham owner,. I bought a baby panther from a reputable local breeder at 4 months old (I bought his enclosure all the bells and whistles, so def no stress associated with that)... he doesn't eat crickets from the feeder cup I bought him, but when I free them in the cage he has no problem hunting them down over the day and eating them, as long as they are in the upper level of the terrarium. The only problem is, I put the powder on the crickets+baby fruit flies in the morning, but am afraid it will wash off of the crickets + flies by the afternoon misting session (an a little worry that the bugs may lose some powder from the water of the morning misting). It's kind of like damned if I do, damned if I don't situation. Was wondering what you would suggest? Shake and bake, and throw them into his enclosure (which is big relative to him, but a small enclosure nonetheless) or just keep them in the feeder and he'll eventually have to eat? I also think this may be his first experience with a feeding cup (but not entirely sure) Thanks in advance- I learn a TON from your videos- just in a catch 22 situation hehe
I'd suggest keeping them in the feeder and letting him figure it out :) Here is my video on tips for cup feeding: ua-cam.com/video/xMxME5TPcVs/v-deo.html
very educational thank you for posting, I really love chameleons so much, they are so adorable and funny looking! I feel bad because my sister's died a long time ago, so Im educating myself nowadays
That really depends on what the humidity levels are inside the enclosure and what your species requires. I’d watch this video: ua-cam.com/video/tktSq3nZ9g4/v-deo.html
I got my female chameleon 8 months ago. When I got her she loved to come out of her cage and anytime I would open the enclosure she would run down and come out. Recently she has been stressed and doing all of these things. I can’t figure out the problem I bought a bigger cage and set it up the way you set yours up in your video. I haven’t put her in the new cage yet. I was wondering what would be the easiest way to put her into the new cage? Every time I try to take her out the puffs up a little curls her tail and sometime hisses.
I need your advice. We have a juvenile. We are scared to lay the lamp on top of the enclosure, because he could climb onto the screen. We hung it so the hottest point he can touch is 34,6°C. His basking spot is now at 30-32... If we lay it down, he could use so much more space to bask... But I'm afraid he could burn himself on the screen. Please help me
Has he already shown that he wants to screen climb? They only do this if they are not satisfied with their enclosure (not enough places to climb, hide, bask, etc.) unless they have just reached reproductive maturity. In that case they could be searching for a female. You have two choices. You could leave the lamp on the enclosure and monitor him for any screen climbing. Or you can leave it hung above the enclosure and drastically increase the wattage of your bulb. Hope this helps.
Make sure their enclosure is set up correctly, ensure they have lots of places to hide and feel safe, and give them space and time to settle in. Feel free to watch my video on how to handle chameleons and build trust with them.

You're welcome! Prime example of how color change doesn't always mean stress.

Usually around 2 weeks. But if you’ve made changes to her enclosure since bringing her home, it’s going to take time to get adjusted to those.

For my Chameleons usually using a big branch/stick helps lot.
Don’t make her climb onto you.
They are usually more inclined to climb on a branch/stick

@@NeptunetheChameleon 👍great
What does it mean if my chameleon has dark spots and moves slowly?
The darks could be a sign of stress and I'd have to see them moving to be able to give an opinion on that.
I have a question 🙋♀️ don’t chameleons need like 12 to 14 hours of sleep so it is normal that my panther Chamelon stills sleep until 9 or 10:00 Am ?
All lights should be on for 12 hours and off for 12 hours.
What can you do to help the little guy aliviate his stress specifically? And feel more confortable around you?
Make sure their enclosure is set up correctly, ensure they have lots of places to hide and feel safe, and give them space and time to settle in. Feel free to watch my video on how to handle chameleons and build trust with them.
