    Honestly for all the people who are apologizing for not liking the game: who’s holding a gun to your head and telling you that you NEED to like it. Don’t apologize if the game isn’t for you then it isn’t for you, and you definitely shouldn’t spend your money on it. If you want to buy the game and you want it to be better, by all means complain but stop apologizing. It makes sense that you want a game to be better and that you provide feedback.

      To be fair, when LBY (or Paralives for that matter) gets criticism the fans tend to go on the attack. So people apologize to show they mean no harm or offense, and to cool things off.

    • @dysontaylor3838
      @dysontaylor3838 Рік тому +5

      @@WonderousSmiles Yeah but apologizing for giving feedback isn't deemed necessary since too many people who does attack developers tends to do the same when they are not sorry at all for their malicious criticisms or cutthroat behaviors. This is indeed what happens to the Sims 4 team by youtubers or simmers in social media sending some heavily and sometimes uncalled for, insulting criticisms even going as far as talking about one of the female game developer's weight calling her a toothpick or walking skeletion within the comments during the high school year's livestream a while back ago.......then apologizes after saying very hurtful things they've meant to say and shouldn't have said to begin with. Because we have a lot of very immature simmers out there that doesn't know how to give criticism without being downright evil about it most times, it's best to give an honest criticism review without apologizing, but also show the developers that you mean no harm or offense, by also giving them your honest positive feedback of what you did like about the game or content etc. This helps developers a lot more when gamers give both mature negative and positive reviews of what they liked and disliked that'll help them see what they can do to make it better and they'll appreciate it more to do more for the fans. But when people attacks developers like with the Sims 4 in very hurtful ways, they'll be discouraged and maybe a bit angry in how they are being treated in general and will do a lot less for the fans as we see today.

It didnt make any kind of sense of it being that dark and the sun wasnt even under the horizon. If you're going to make a life simulator everything needs to make sense. The reason it looks so grainy is because there's no lines, the colors just bleed into each other. Which becomes really apparent when the character is zoomed out as the colors bleed more. It looks better with darker skin tones because the darker tone helps contrast the white of the eyes.

    I understand peoples concerns, but I also personally think that a lot of people don't actually understand what early access is. They expect this to be pretty much done with a few minor tweaks. I've played early access games that changed dramatically when they were release. I mean things like completely new maps and art styles, not just gameplay changes. I fully expect there to be bugs and for the gameplay to be a little imperfect. In the past, games would have a beta release, which was only to a small amount of players, usually your more hardcore gamers and the game was updated based on their feedback. Early access in my view is a much better idea as you can get feedback from a much wider audience. I understand why some people are having reservations as they see early access as a way for companies to get the players to do the beta testing at their own expense. I personally will be playing in early access (I have played some amazing early access games and some really bad ones) and I think it's a great opportunity to help shape the game.

It’s not being released released, it’s early access, the entire point is for people who are excited about this game, can purchase this game at a lower cost and watch the development process, give feedback. The game will not be released finished for at least a year after September’s public early access release, and even then most likely not for 2 years afterwards. Hot take, but I don't need or really want much stylization for a game like this. I just want to immerse myself in a life simulation. The closer that it looks to reality, the more immersive it is. Because, well, it's simulating life. All I've ever wanted is to be able to roleplay and immerse myself in as realistic looking environments with as realistic looking characters as possible. There's certainly a place for stylization, but there's also a place for hyper-realism.

    Authenticity and transparency are ALWAYS appreciated, Pixelade! At least it is for me. Some people might think it's pessimistic or overly critical to talk about the negativity, but that's what people have said about physical and mental illness for so long. These kinds of things NEED to be discussed in a healthy way, where you're not just focusing on the negative, but also highlighting the positives, which is exactly what you do in this video.
    I think it's unfair on everyone involved to only focus on the positive things companies do and ignoring where there's room for improvement (there's a term for that. It's called toxic positivity). However, I think it's equally unfair to nitpick every little detail because developers can only do so much with the amount of time and resources it takes to create a game. Which is often why I'm very critical of AAA industries, who can afford the manpower, resources, and time it takes to make something truly inspirational and innovative, but choose to spend that time, money, and manpower elsewhere or nowhere at all.
    It's hard to find that balance, but I think you did a pretty good job in this video. We all need to remember and understand that the people behind the scenes who've worked so hard on these kinds of projects are often the same people who receive undue criticism and backlash, all because they were simply doing their jobs. I don't think art should be considered a "job" in the traditional sense, but it is what it is in the gaming industry. So we do need to be careful with our criticisms, but we shouldn't have to accept in silence the poor quality for things we, as grown adults or responsible teenagers, are paying for.

I wonder why they show off the game so early in an unfinished state, it makes people wonder and point out all the flaws, which is understandable, and I also have many complaints about the current state of the game. This cannot exactly be a great motivation to the LBY team though, so I really wonder why they chose to go public with it at this point and did not polish things a bit more before showing it off.

      I would be truly shocked if those animations aren't just super rudimentary placeholders. They're almost definitely not supposed to look all that great. Polishing animations this early in development would probably mean a lot of wasted work, because the game mechanics are too much in flux, and the specifications for how the ultimate animations need to look are probably shifting too much. Like, if they made a perfect animation for sitting on that couch, and then decide to change the dimensions of that couch, suddenly that animation is useless. That's why game developers don't generally polish aesthetics until the very end of the development cycle.

    • @joyfulgirl91
      @joyfulgirl91 Рік тому +1

      @@SimlikeitHotyes you are correct that I have more overall concern over practices by EA. They are industry leaders who set the standard all over the world for what shareholders expect and what consumers must settle for. Their actions move the needle for the whole industry to follow suit, including smaller studios. Many choices they made that were decried by consumers and workers are now just normal because they have so much control. I am much harder on large companies than small ones for that reason. It is not very productive to be super hard on companies that are so small they might be dissolved or consumed by a larger entity any second. EA is also an American company affected by my legislators and voting choices, while Paradox is not from my country, and what should be done to improve conditions for workers is up to those citizens. They have much better conditions than most American workers already under their laws. I do care about what paradox does and follow their responses to feedback pretty closely mostly because I want their developers (especially the women) respected, but again that isn’t going to give people any information about what a game they make might be like. The games have their own life. Look at the Sims, completely removed from anyone who developed it in the beginning. Every single person at the studio could be replaced and the games would still define the company. The company could go bankrupt and another company would develop and sell future titles of those games. The Sims might not always be owned by EA either, which is why I am happy to be a fan even though I dislike the company. The games are IP like star wars that is owned by Disney today, who knows who tomorrow

Even if you have a really realistic sim, when they start pulling those cartoony, goofy facial expressions, it all falls apart. Personally, thats what i would focus on. My biggest issue with Life By You is that it's not going to run on the amount of machines Sims4 can.

      well that would be accepted , as the sims 4 came out in 2014 , almost 10 yrs ago . obviously life by u is gonna require higher specs

    My concern is about future packs (?). In S4 we have different worlds with different topography. Will that happen in this game? Wil you top a hill and suddenly be in the desert or snow-capped mountains? I hope the will eventually be different styles like Victorian, craftsman, Spanish, etc. Can I build a castle on the hill? I have a lot of "future" questions.

    Finally someone who sees the same issues as I do :( the animations bother me SO MUCH. The whole reason I play Sims, for example, is because I like my sims and I like to make them do stuff, and watch them do that stuff. If the animations here in LBY are SO BAD it will just be sooo... cringe almost to watch them. The going to bed animation? I had to blink and take a second look at that just like you lol. Why does everything look so robotic still :( Hope they will fix this. Sims 1 even had better animations in that regard... :'D
    The enviroment looks great! I love the houses and the interior design and the way stuff seems to work, but the 'humans' are killing it for me at the moment and make it literally unplayable. For people who do not care much about their humans this might not be an issue, but for me it literally makes the game unplayable.

    I personally think the graphics seem inconsistent with some of the character creation items.

    For me it is just because of the art style. That's just cause I don't like hyperrealistic characters cause I find that not many creators do a good job conveying emotions on faces. Making it look too stiff for me to be invested

    I completely agree with your opinion, Matt.
    I like the world and the concept. I know it's early access but it just seems so... eh🤷‍♀️ I'm not dying to get it. The "people" look lifeless and stiff which I feel like it's hard to connect with unlike sims4 and paralives where they have more personality.
    I think I'll hold off from getting it to be honest.

    I still have hope for this game. I just gotta remind myself it’s in early access. Surprised you didn’t catch the necklace glitch though,where it was clipping into their neck and shirt.

    In panama city, where our beach condo is, it can be dark on land, before the sun is below the horizon. Depending on angle and times of year.

    My problem is definitely the art style. I didn't like TS3 either because of the realistic turn it took. Imo hyperrealistic graphics (or the attempt to reach them) often end up looking grainy. There's also something with the too-bright lighting that throws me off. I think I'm much more into the concept art come to life sort of animation style
