I’m SO excited about the stomach sliders, I feel like I can make a person who is plus sized with various kinds of bellies, which is so much better than the odd shaped bigger bodies in the sims
I'm also really excited to be able to have thin bodies but with small cute bellies. I've got custom body presets for that in the sims 4, but you can't really get it without a custom preset. I'm a thin person, but I don't have a perfectly flat stomach, and being able to make my body shape would be nice.
I actually prefer sliders - in the Sims 4, I sometimes have a hard time clicking the right spot because nothing's labeled and everything is so close (especially when I try to change face details).
@@layelee also i dont know if this is related but in sims 3 with the nraas mod you can have as many custom sliders as you like, whereas in sims 4 custom sliders replace others and theres a limit because of the push pull method thing, so maybe this way will allow for more custom ones
Yeah, I spend hours just making a Sim, because I don't like the average looking ones that a lot of people make, I want my Sims to look like they could be a real person, not just some copy of other Sims! Or worse, look like the premade Sims Maxis makes for each Expansion Pack, I mean they seem to be obsessed with all Sims having Jay Leno chins and jaws! And all their faces just stick out way too much, it's unnatural! I mean no matter what nationality they are, they all have the same type of faces, which is why to me most of the premades are ugly looking! Also all Asian females are given a flat chest and no hips, but they're supposed to be being fair to different races of people, I don't think so!
It all looks really good. I do think the arms are set a little too far back on the shoulders. She looks like she’s posturing for a fight. 😂 But otherwise she’s looking great. Making bigger characters is going to be so much easier than in the sims. Sims all end up with weight gain sitting the same way on their bodies. LBY looks like we can have much more realistic weight gains or losses.
I really love these sliders. They address issues I've had in the Sims. Not everyone has the same proportions or carries weight the same way, but that's what the The Sims assumes. So if you try to create yourself, things are off and not realistic. I'd like to see a posture slider.
Also, this will allow us to create characters that actually look different, I keep getting this feeling that my sims exist in a world with a very limited gene pool
I saw a lot of comments on the video itself about the armpit area and the posture of the arms still looking kind of off, and I agree. If they can work on that plus the facial expressions, the character creator is going to be *excellent* 🎉
It's going to be like the Sims 3 for me. I loved my Sims, and the customization was great, but they were always a bit fugly 😄🤷🏽♀️ I'm getting the same vibe here, the customization is amazing, and if the gameplay is great, I'm all in...but all the Lifers that I've seen are kind of fugly.
This is looking so good. I agree that they needed at least 1 more slider for the feet. Another thing i want to mention is that we only have 9 weeks before it releases, and there are so many things that they can show us and they need to release more videos or cover more.
Either they advanced a lot in graphics since the art dev stream or those were some really old pictures, but the avatars look much better and seem much less low-poly here than they did in the art stream. They don't look hideous here like they did in the art dev stream.
That’s because it’s usually going to cause clipping and awkward interactions with objects. Some people are ok with that in exchange for height differences but others will not like it. Same issues with hair. If you make flowing, moving hair, it will clip all over the place, and even more so if the world has wind and gravity that can act on it. There are always compromises.

Honestly, this looks pretty good. I also don't mind the sliders cause I think they can help make sure you get every spot. Though it takes me an hour in the sims4 to crate a sim, I'm gonna be in here all day😅

I'd love the option for hunches and slouching, though I have to admit to almost never bothering with walk styles. I might change my mind about using them if they were more realistic than the over the top ones in the Sims 4
I hope there's no clipping! They better fix that quick if we find some. But awkward animations... well, real life has plenty of that, especially with some body parts.
I was really happy to see this even though I'm not really into physical character creation. I feel this is a good indicator that other areas of the game will also be high quality - like the traits system, building mode, and gameplay. Of course all games have their strengths and weaknesses, but I'd say a definite strength for this game will be the character creation.
Everyone complains about how complex it is to have the CCs work properly in Sims. People use the Heck out of CC and Mods in Sims even thought the game is not really pre programmed for those things. Here, they have created the "canvas " for us to use and create whatever we want. If you don't use and cc or mods, you can still make whatever you like.
this has me so curious how randomly generated humans will be; will the limits for the sliders in random generation stay towards the average or will we have humans randomly generated with huge ribs and weird legs? it would be hilarious but so hard to take the game seriously. i'm also very much looking forward to the monstrosities let's players make with this level of freedom
Something I didn't understand is, we are use to polished, set, can't change "toons" = Sims. THIS game, the people are created in the way they are SO Custom CC and all the textures will be easy to "use". Paradox has taken in account the Thousands of skin. Eye. Hair. Clothes. Lips. Eyelashes. Etc that people will probably create and have made it so this game for YEARS will easily accept all them.
I liked this too. And I feel the same about the feet options. I probably cannot make it run with my laptop (or it would be struggling at least) but I am going to buy another one but desktop version as soon as I can, hoping to be able to play LBY too.

Muscle sliders, at least on the woman, aren’t actually changing muscles, they’re also changing bone structure, which will make impossible to make certain body types. It IS nice to be able to change chest cavity size on women. But the shoulder sizes are once again sexist in not allowing women with bigger bones and wider shoulders. Being able to change hand size is nice.
I'm one of those players that feel we NEED a Life sim that isn't so far on the cartoony side but also doesn't shift far into uncanny Valley vibes. The Sims 3 playdoh looks bothers me till this day. lol I love realism looks in my Life sims so I think Life By You is looking for that perfect in-between and I'm here for it! I hope we get to colorwheel the clothes as well. One of my concerns is that I hope they get rid of the drawn-on texture clothing and continue to improve on that.
Yes I agree about the feet, I was hoping we could change the length and width separately, not together! But I presently have a few slider mods in my TS4 game, for widening the female's torso or like they said here, the rib cage, it has always bothered me that we can kind of do that for the males, but not the females, I mean not all women are petite, I mean I'm 5'8, and have a larger frame then some the same height as me! Also love that we can change the size of their hands, which we can't do in TS4, and that also has always bothered me! I mean again, I also have larger hands then a lot of women, since I am taller then average, and I hate that I have to use a mod just to be able to change the size of the hands! I mean we don't even have them for male Sims! Today I watched a great video of Rod Humble playing Life By You, and it was a lot of fun, I mean we get to pick a house, car, job and even how much money they have starting out, before even leaving their " CAS ", it's amazing! Plus, they have real names for not only foods, but drinks, because we also get alcoholic drinks, but are persons can't drive after drinking them, lol! Also we can just remove the censor in game or just keep it, instead of using a mod! I have been holding off pre-ordering the game, because I wanted to see more of the game first, because I am interested in it, but after all the tricks EA/Maxis has pooled over the years, even some before TS4, I am wary of any new Sim like games! But the more I see of this game, the more I want to buy it, I am just glad we will get a chance to play it in early access this September, unlike Paralives, which I am still excited for, but it may be many more years before we even get an early access for it!

"You look at your avatar's eyes during the creation, the rest of the time you look at their butt." That's for RPGs of course, but usually we don't play life sim games zoomed in really close, so body shape still makes up a lot of what we see in daily life.

I don't think either one of them is trying to be a sex simulation but more of a realistic approach to life simulations. The only thing that I can see that might make you think life by you is trying to be a sex simulation is the fact that you can see their naked body but that's it and the only reason they are doing that is because they said they are a European company and they don't see naked bodies as something that needs to be covered up in a life simulation and you have the option to put a blur. But you can't see when they are having sex but they said if you wanted to mod it you could. And paralives also wants you to mod want isn't going to be on the game that you want since they too want a more realistic game.

Maybe its just me then, everyone else seems happy with how the humans look. I'm obviously too fussy. I still think they're ugly af. Yep, the characterisation is great but her face is very masculine, her hair is just wrong and solid but what I dislike more than anything else is the way they stand and walk. Its gta, or Saints Row all over again. I don't think I should've pre ordered this, im not excited about it at all. Im playing sims 3 atm and loving it, I'd forgotten how great it was, I hope so much life by you proves me wrong.
The last video was showing how they progressed and this one is where they are now. I am loving everything I see from Paradox and Life By You. Especially their transparency.
I feel like I would spend forever messing around in Life By You with the sliders and seeing how it would look with the clothes. I get annoyed on how some of the clothes look on sims that are overweight.

I feel like life by you is sims for people who want a more adult realistic version of the sims. Im an adult, but prefer a cartoon version as I think it’s cuter and i dont use the sims as a sexual outlet. I feel like the sims kind of created their art style the way they did to sort of prevent the sexualization of sims as they had a problem with that in previous games. Also why teens look the same as adults to prevent fetishizing teens. May have not been done consciously but i think this does help. I know there are mods to make the sims do sexual things etc but in general it seems like the art style was made in a pixar disney type of way to make it appeal less sexually.
Everything looks great except…I still find the eyes really creepy. I think it is just that the white is far too bright, it needs to be toned right down. I suspect it might be a similar problem with teeth. 🤷🏻♀️
Unpopular opinion: I think they you can adjust way more on the thin scale than on the fatscale. You could go all anorexic on the slider but not what I consider fat on the slider barely even chubby they need to fix that.
If you enjoy spending a chunk of your time in CAS then this game will be up your alley.

All overweight sims look the same and that's just not right. Speaking as a fat woman, I appreciate the sliders to give the correct diversity.

LBY has said there’s not a weight system so you’d have to manually change their size. Either way, I’m really excited to try this game!

Maybe its just me then, everyone else seems happy with how the humans look. I'm obviously too fussy. I still think they're ugly af. Yep, the characterisation is great but her face is very masculine, her hair is just wrong and solid but what I dislike more than anything else is the way they stand and walk. Its gta, or Saints Row all over again. I don't think I should've pre ordered this, im not excited about it at all.

The last video was showing how they progressed and this one is where they are now. I am loving everything I see from Paradox and Life By You. Especially their transparency.
I feel like I would spend forever messing around in Life By You with the sliders and seeing how it would look with the clothes. I get annoyed on how some of the clothes look on sims that are overweight.

No need to feel bad for being negative because I had to agree with you on the characters. Here's hoping they'll be better by early access. They look slightly better already, body wise. The character creator is so good! Can't wait to mess around with it.

I feel like life by you is sims for people who want a more adult realistic version of the sims. Im an adult, but prefer a cartoon version as I think it’s cuter and i dont use the sims as a sexual outlet. I feel like the sims kind of created their art style the way they did to sort of prevent the sexualization of sims as they had a problem with that in previous games. Also why teens look the same as adults to prevent fetishizing teens. May have not been done consciously but i think this does help. I know there are mods to make the sims do sexual things etc but in general it seems like the art style was made in a pixar disney type of way to make it appeal less sexually.
I thought they were called Umans, like Youmans. A combination of "You" and "Human". I could be hearing it wrong though.

I prefer sliders so for me this is better.
Everything looks great except…I still find the eyes really creepy. I think it is just that the white is far too bright, it needs to be toned right down. I suspect it might be a similar problem with teeth. 🤷🏻♀️

Unpopular opinion: I think they you can adjust way more on the thin scale than on the fatscale.
You could go all anorexic on the slider but not what I consider fat on the slider barely even chubby they need to fix that.
