We would absolutely recommend it! A big culture shock from our normal quiet life onboard, but absolutely worth it for all the sights, music, and good food. They know how to put on a hell of a show.
Bonjour à nouveau! Oui, nous nous sommes rencontrés alors qu'il semblait que nous volions notre propre canot 😄 J'espère que vous êtes heureux et que vous allez bien !
I just caught up with a couple months worth of your videos. Massive congratulations on crossing the Atlantic, and it looks like the crew you picked up seemed to be a nice bunch. The Martinique Carnival looks amazing, and very awesome to see some queer representation there too. Especially given a lot of the Caribbean is a bit of a no go for queer folks like myself. To see if at the carnival like this, gives great hope. Looking forward to more great videos.
The carnival was very inclusive in many ways, from queer representation to people with a range of disabilities involved. We felt it was important to us to cover it genuinely as such. It was a fantastic 3 days and we'd fully recommend it!
Had a good chuckle at the dinghy lock bit. I'll risk a couple of comments. Master Locks are rubbish. See if you can find something better. On any decent lock the shackle is pretty much impervious to bolt cutters. A battery angle grinder however 40 seconds tops. Have two or three locks at hand and circulate them and sluice oil through them on the regular that is the only way I've found to keep locks working in the weather. On the subject of bolt cutters, if the reason you have them is to cut the rig in an emergency, find some spare rig wire and try cutting it. Just for comparison, my cutters have 48" handles (Yes over a meter) what I saw in the video are electrical wire cable cutters and not actual bolt cutters.
Advice is always welcome! We did deduce that those locks were a bit of a nightmare... after a few trial and errors😄 We have ordered some different ones and Tony has taken to covering them with silicone oil. Circulating them is a great suggestion though, and we will likely take up doing that ourselves! We borrowed the bolt/cable cutters off some friends who kindly came to the rescue, otherwise we do have a hacksaw and angle grinder.... we would have looked even more like we were stealing our own dinghy! Your bolt cutter sounds like the real deal though - we shall do some research.
Do you have a rough itinerary at all? Scheduled the canal yet? And then in the Pacific directly to the Marquesas or Galapagos first? I am just wondering what the plan is. Looking forward to following along on my laptop.
We have a *very* rough itinerary! To start with it's probably worth me noting that our videos are a little behind real-time... we didn't cross the Atlantic in hurricane season I promise, although it felt like we may have for a while there. It got a bit rough! We will be catching up closer to real-time over the next few months, which is a good feeling. After hurricane season we will head up north for the Bahamas, and then likely down to the ABC islands for next hurricane season. Then we will debate the canal and the Pacific! I'm not sure either of us will forgive ourselves if we miss the Galapagos. Tony is half Chilean so some of Central and South America is on the cards, and then tackling the Pacific and all its incredible islands. I'm fully expecting to fall in love and find it hard to tear myself away from them once there. We appreciate you following along!
Great videos and great boat! There is another way to open padlocks very quickly and with nothing sofisticated. That is with a couple of spanners, using the open end side putting them side by side through the padlock arch and pressing them like scissors. Hard to explain, best is to check in UA-cam. Opening a padlock with a couple of spanners.
A spanner trick sounds like just the low-key (and not drawing attention to ourselves whilst looking like we are stealing our own dinghy) tip that we needed! We will watch and save the video for what feels like an almost inevitable next time. Thank you 😊

@@CutterboveSailing looks really fun...6 months behind real time, is quite a lot lol..but I can imagine everything is a challenge living on a boat!! Enjoying your channel 🤩
We didn't want to miss out showing the beginning of the adventure 😆 but over the next 8 weeks reckon we can make up a fair amount. We are additionally back home for 6 weeks for some weddings/planning of big boat projects and are not doing any filming throughout this time, so that'll help a fair amount!
Great video guys and the carnival looked amazing, we would definitely love to check it out for ourselves at some point! ✨

Great stuff, folks! Keep it up!
Thank you! We laughed and carnivalled our way through the adventures of this episode 😄
Thank you.

ahaha I came here to say this too 😂
It's on the list! Perhaps a Christmas gift to ourselves 😄
Seriously!?!? That’s your takeaway from Carnivale in Martinique?!? 😅
We were anchord on the first row in front of the fort and did not have any problem with the ferrys or cruise ships. 😂
You chose the right spot! We arrived too late to sneak in that close, and paid the price twice daily 😅

Here in South Africa , we make pancakes like that as well .
We think you make them the right way 😁 A bit of lemon juice and sugar on top, and they're perfect.
Nice episode
Thank you! There was a lot going on, and Martinique really put on an awesome show.

Not us I'm afraid! We have been keeping south Caribbean (below the hurricane belt) the last few months.
