That anchorage looked so brutal! We have only had one experience where the swell caught us like that and it truly is impossible to sleep. Can't imaging what it would be like with so many close boats (and a wreck!) around! Great job y'all!
Hello Bryony and Tony I'm taken with the real nature of your videos ,a good insite for anyone planning a simular trip . Watching your Atlantic crossing heaving the boat to would have helped with your cooking and nursing duties Bryony .
Hi, thank you for watching 😊 And yes, we can't quite recall why we didn't heave to for the nachos... I think we were so tired we didn't even consider it! Instead the cooking turned into a contact sport, as one person has put it. We will remember next time.
Hi, Good afternoon Crew S/V Rhythm 🇬🇧 What a rhythm and Wobble in Martinique, were the Gipsy Kings in full concert? Well, this is how the Caribbean changes its season after July 30, so until November 30 the Lesser Antilles will observe the changes in climate and the approaches of Cyclones, plus some hurricanes. You can make up for this by moving to the Southern Caribbean, Panama, even being in Gunayala you will feel the changes, you must travel to the West of Panama and you will be very well in Bocas del Toro, you can go up to your liking throughout the Western Caribbean, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Guatemala (Río Dulce⭐) Mexico. Until March 21, the Northern and Eastern Caribbean will NOT be very calm, December, January and February are the season of cold fronts (Northern), very rough seas and very strong winds from that direction. P.S. The best place is the South of Cuba ALL YEAR ROUND, a Caribbean dream but I DO NOT RECOMMEND GOING, there is a lot of conflict and NOT VERY NICE events. The Island is in critical condition.
We are currently hiding out in the south Caribbean, and fled even further south before hurricane Beryl hit! We don't want to be caught in anything nasty.
Ah they both had flights/places to be pretty soon after we arrived (Jacky had a sailing weekend back in the UK she had to race back for!)... so they departed quite fast.
You show a Starlink antenna but make phone calls using Iridium. Why not just use your normal phone with wifi calling or WhatsApp? Also, yes, that's why they call it the Boom! Best of luck!
@christophS2468 hi there! We only use the Iridium Go when offshore. The Starlink plan for offshore is different (and more expensive), and it doesn't work/connect well (if at all) to a satellite as soon as it gets a bit rolly. For big offshore passages we always have the Iridium Go set up as an additional comms/safety element, but not when more coastal 😊 in fact not even the Iridium worked well in the bigger seas (messages were possible but phonecalls dropped out every 20 seconds) - there is apparently an additional antenna we can get, which seems like it will be a necessary purchase at some point in the future. Yes, the boom is quite aptly named! Hopefully that mistake will only be made once. Thank you 😊
@@CutterboveSailing There is a setting in the Starlink app that configures the dish in a horizontal position which helps staying connected in roly conditions. You should give it a try and see if it works better for you. In the US, the global roaming plan costs $100 more a month than local roaming and adds 50 GB of on-ocean data on top of the unlimited on-shore data making it a lot cheaper than anything Iridium has to offer but UK prices may be quite different. Wishing you two the best of luck on your big adventure!

Definitely our worst anchorage experience to date, and we obviously escaped lightly compared to some. Boatlife is full of surprises 😄
Thank you.

Very well Done!
Thank you! It was a fun one to edit together and show.

When did your 2 helpers leave the boat?
Ah they both had flights/places to be pretty soon after we arrived (Jacky had a sailing weekend back in the UK she had to race back for!)... so they departed quite fast.
Sail to Trinidad and Tobago
That may well be coming up 😁

sounds like you need a set of marriage savers.
Are they the headsets? If so, we do have some, but always forget to use them!
Not very nice calling Tony a spanner.😉
He's been called worse back in his army days I'm sure 😄
