  • Do you have an Ender-3 v2 that keeps going out of level (tram)? One moment it works beautifully and the next your first layer looks like garbage? You might have a faulty Z axis limit switch.
    Here's how I fixed mine.
Replacement (right angle) switch from Digikey:
    www.digikey.com/en/products/d...
For Australian viewers, here's is the switch I used from Jaycar:
    www.jaycar.com.au/spdt-125v-3...
You can buy the whole limit switch assembly from places like AliExpress, but I can't vouch for the quality of the switches they use. They might be just as faulty as the original:

That's the exact same issue I'm suffering. Even changed the springs although it seemed illogical that their failure should be so instance. Will take a look at this. Thanks

Glad you mentioned the bl-touch. That is the way to go. Get rid of that switch completely. I have had mine for over 3 years and have only redone the mesh twice. Both times after moving the printer or removing the glass to clean it properly.

Tyvm, Bruce! I was wondering what I could do to fix my identical 3D printer.

This described my issue perfectly with my ender 3 pro, however I've replaced the Z limit switch 3 times without success. I purchased from 3 different venders with 3 different lot numbers and this hasn't helped. I'm going to install a CR Touch this weekend in the hopes this will help. I'm open to suggestions however please be advised that I've:
    1. Made sure the unit is nice and square.
    2. Replaced the the rollers with more expensive versions that have the washer between the bearings.
    3. Adjusted the rollers to ensure they're not too tight or loose.
    4. Added the second Z axis stepper.
    5. tried upgraded springs (including the rubber ones)
    6. Knob locks.
    7. Glass bed
    8. Three different z limit switches.
    9. Made sure sensors, steppers, lead screws etc. were snug and nothing is wobbling around.
I can level the bed three times in a row with no prints in between and STILL get three different results. This is an Ender 3 pro. Just for fun I'm going to upgrade the board to the 4.2.7 silent version, add the v2 screen, and the CR Touch this weekend. In for penny, in for a pound I guess.

Thanks for the video. Really helpful and know I know what to look for if I start having that problem. But I have a problem with mine. It will print good for the first 30 layers and after that. It's lookS like spaghetti .
Just ran into your video. Going to start watching more. But you know what going on with mine.

Do you know if this is the same issue with V1 printers? Would replacing all three switches lead to better prints?

Seems like a design flaw! Limit switches should not be used as a precise stop or limit! They should have used a IR gate switch!

It's a cheap option. The anet A8 also came with a switch. It was one of the first upgrades I did to the printer: replacing it with a magnetic sensor

Cr touch is a scam, i still get bad first layer like 90% of the time. Something the nozzle is to close and sometimes it to far. The ender v2 suck. (It could be that i suck at leveling the bed)

Just because you have been unable to configure your printer successfully doesn't make the CR-Touch a "scam". Many people (myself included) get a perfect first layer every time with their Ender 3 V2 and CR-Touch. There are lots of fantastic self-help videos out there, so keep trying.
