You have saved the day for me!!! 2 days my car was stuck & after this video I was able to get it running by following all the steps from the key, boost & wire. Thank you very much sir...I'm subscribed from this day forward just in case.
Randy man you are the s*** I got my key out yesterday with your video and I was able to start my car up today using the wires you are freaking awesome thank you for taking the time to record that and I'm definitely subscribing to you I appreciate you thank you so much
Change the crank position sensor cable near the oil filter area underneath your car. Gonna need a star nut socket E8. If the sensor is bad and old from any car wash engine bay or just oil build up it will throw the ECM off. This is the fix for all GM no start problem crank problem to the ECM Engine control module computer components no connection code. Your welcome.
Right on bud .... was losing my mind trying to get the key out....leaving that plastic cap off and have a screw driver with me at all times.... thank you ....😎👍
Thank you for this video! Seems to be a common cts problem.. I have a 2007 with less than 90000 miles. Brand new battery. Very frustrating. I get mine to reset and then a couple months later it will start with the security system/traction control light and key won't come out again. Also have no gas or temp guage but speedometer and tac work. I've talked to other cts owners and theirs won't even start when it happens or they have reduced power. Mine at least starts. Talked to couple people that replaced ecm and having same problem still. Also when you buy new ecm even the supposed preprogrammed ones they still need to be flashed at a dealership. Costing anywhere from 120 to 200 dollars I've found in my area. Crazy!
Sorry guys just seeing this. My daughter friend who's a diagnostic specialist did something on his scanner and got it to reset but wouldn't tell us how. Said it had 30 codes for ecm " mechanics secret" he tells me. yeah just wants to make more money more like it. lol. He wouldn't even tell my regular mechanic how he cleared it.but he also had a really expensive high tech scanner. Don't know if that's the difference? He was punching in stuff on that scanner for a good 5 mins before he got it reset. As far as the key goes I just taped down key release button on shift column to get my key out cause mine started and had power. Ran great for a while but About 6 months later started malfunctioning again. I finally ended up just getting rid of the car and buying a new one with a warranty.. So frustrating cause it's such a nice car. Good luck with yours, hope you can get your issues resolved.
I have a 2004 CTS and while I was driving it just started to fade out like it wasn’t getting power. It ended up just fading out and dying. Next day it started up and I drove it to a friends house a couple miles away. I changed the alternator and put a new battery in it and now it won’t turn over like it should. Not the clicking noise you hear from a bad starter but like it not getting the power. Mind you I have a new battery in it. I’ve heard ignition switch to the fucking relay for the starter. Any other help would be very appreciated. Thank you in advance
There is a fuseable link from the battery to the alternator it’s like a $7 fix if you replace it with a fuseable link of same wattage from autozone. Perplexed the hell out of me on a 2004 and I was able to find one obscure video of a heavy set Asian guy explaining it which saved me
I can’t seem to find it but if you look on the positive terminal of the battery follow the cable just before the alternator there is a little gray or black junction. It’s not much larger diameter than the wire if you pull back the sheathing you can confirm if the link is blown before cutting it out .
Hello Man! I am in my CTS 2004 it is displaying a T and a C With a cross through it. And it illuminated. Also a key 🔐 lock Is illuminating in the locked position. The car drives beautifully all new tires 30,000 miles. It drives like a 747 smoothness. However dude please help me I can’t get the antitheft system to disengage I have pulled out the fuse for the ECM back-and-forth back-and-forth I’ve hit the reset button. Oh the car runs great the computer is working beautifully it’s almost new replace a year ago. Whatever it’s fine that I can leave the key in the battery was $250 but if I leave the key in overnight it runs the battery completely down please help as soon as you can. Thank you
There's a relearn process you can try, turn key forward without starting. And at about 10 minutes of sitting, the lock symbol will flash. Immediately turn off, wait a couple seconds, then right back into the forward position. Newberry trying to start, only turning forward to the aux position. Do this three times asked then after turning off the third time, attempt to start the car
Got the key out got the car to start by putting the wire at the fuse box but that is not fixing the problem have to use the wire every time to start the car so what is the good fix
This is what I used to have to do to my 05 cts but now the battery is dying with in less than an hour with the car and everything shut off and it's crazy and I might need a new ecu but my mechanic doesn't even fully know what's exactly wrong and I know if I take it back to chevy I'll get charged probably $1000s for a simple fix
Same issue, which seems to be a constant issue. Just changed the alternator and am currently charging the battery. It appears to be related to low voltage. Either way, it's ridiculous! My '05 has ~50,000 miles on it and is falling apart.
@@dante04srt ok I've been having a problem where it's hard to get started first time but once started runs fine and starts rest of day no problems but next day hard to start again
Due to the discharge of the battery, the key does not give away. The battery is charged, the car starts. But the key does not give away properly. Tell me what to do ?

Why jump that wire?.. just to start it? can you not just jump the starter relay pins to start it
That’s what I did it works
Could that happen after big cold weather? My batterie died i charged it back but car does exactly this
What is the purple wire for?
